So last night they showed that no rookie has ever won the season opener (I believe that’s what they were showing). Correct me if I’m mistaken here, but didn’t 1989 East coast lites winner Damon Bradshaw win the 1990 SX opener at Anaheim? Didn’t Ken Roczen win the 2014 SX season opener. Maybe I missed something here.

They had both had a race in the previous season.
Your correct with both them winning.
But it was neithers debut premier class race.
Bradshaw raced San Diego 89 and came 3.
And roczen raced 4or5 races in the seasons previous to him winning in 2014.
Jett is the only true rookie on debut.
Several other names have been thrown out like windham. And Josh Grant. But all had previously raced in the premier class.
What about Josh grant?
Jett being a rookie is a technicality, SMX and off season races matter.

Smx isn't supercross. And Paris isn't a1.
If you want to come here and say jett raced Paris sx he isn't a rookie. Your a deadset clown.
Name calling over a reflection on a supercross race? Love to be at your house over the holidays.
A 22-0 outdoor season isn’t a true 450 rookie either.
They were talking about a premier class rookie winning their first SX race. Seems a few guys did it in their second race but none had achieved it in their first until now.
Didn't Dungey do it in his second race? He wasn't on the list they showed
He did
The producers should check their research here with us Vitards before they air stuff like that!
Marty Tripes?
Seattle 2008, he did one premier class race.
Dungey raced 3 supercross in the 450cc category before (2008).
Bingo. They’re not talking first 450 race ever. They’re talking 1st ever premier SUPERCROSS race. He raced Mx and smx not SX.
although maybe now people will realize how dumb this “smx” name thing is. It’s literally supercross.
Did they say RC raced 21 races before he won? That cant be right.
1999 when he went to the big bike class he didn't win once and had some bad crashes.
I don't think he won until Daytona 2000 on a big bike.
He was also always an advocate that he wished he would would've stayed in the 125 class for 1 more year before moving up due to his terrible season in 99.
He looked horrible in supercross on an 250 until 2001. It was a big surprise when he came out and beat McGrath straight up. Nobody was really expecting it.
Pit Row
RC struggled his first year and a half. He couldn’t stay on two wheels.
This whole narrative is ridiculous.
The stat they showed was "Starts before first career win in premier class all-time." So Dungey and Grant and Villopoto should have been on the list right? And probably some others I cant think of? Unless Im taking this wrong they totally messed up.
It has less to do with the word rookie and more to do with debut.
AMA supercross is its own entity owned by Feld. A stand alone series. He’s the only person to win on a 450 in his first FELD supercross 450 race.
It would be interesting to see a full list of the stats with RV ,Dungey Ect....every rider who has won and how many races before.
Tortelli won his first and only SX main at the season opener in 96, his only AMA races prior to that were two 125 SX’s and a 250SX in 95. Technically not a rookie, but worth mentioning.
Tortelli won the opener in 1998. Before, he failed to qualify in the 125cc category twice in 1995. And rode his first 250 main event in 1997.
You weren’t at L.A. Coliseum, were you?
Yep
1997-1998: At the LA Coliseum, on Jan. 18, 1997, Sebastien Tortelli finished 7th. One year later, he returned to LA and won a mudder.

Just look up the vault on racer X to check rider results in their first premier class races. It’s a good tool.
Narrative? It’s just a stat - first rider to win his first premier class SX race.
So by all these comments, people are having a really hard time understanding. If RJ Hampshire lines up next year at A1 and wins it.. It wouldn't be his 450 debut. as he raced Daytona last year.
