AMA OnlyFans Ban

Looks like the "Logan Karnow" rule has been implemented. Similar to Chad Reed's CBD ban, seems like if a small percentage of people have a problem with a sponsor, the AMA wants to shut it down. As someone who doesn't know the various factors they account for when making these decisions, it still seems like a bad look for the AMA.

Dirt bike lover is worse than TMZ.

Guy created his own interpretation to start a rumor. Karnow even called him out basically saying all is well.

So stupid. They prevented Reed and Wilson from their own sponsors (CBD) and then went ahead and got CBDMD as their exclusive sponsor for themselves.

"Come see Rd 14 of Monster Energy Supercross sponsored by OnlyFans!"

If you read the rule…you could apply some of their “banned depictions rules” to a lot of what we see from models, images and even fans that are roaming the pits. Laughing

Until the AMA starts paying privateers enough to at least make it from round to round, they should be more understanding that someone needs to make money besides them and Feld. Maybe at A1, all the privateers will stand up and tell  the AMA and Feld to pack sand. Oh wait, The AMA doesn't allow any type union or the ability to unite together. Tough to put on a good show with only factory riders and no heats filled with riders.

Well talk about typical AMA ambiguity,

“Social Media Platform sponsors must not promote adult content within the platform”

“All riders on a team with a Social Media Platform sponsorship that allows adult content must be 18 years of age or older”

First it says must not promote adult content, than it says riders just have to be over 18

Social Media Platforms that allow adult content within the platform must have processes in place that do not allow access to adult content to anyone under the age of 18.

onlyfans requires age verification for over 18 content

The way I understand this is that the platform cannot promote the adult content on their platform but if they allow it on the platform without promoting it, the riders and teams with the sponsor must be 18+

I understand that.

You can’t have a sport that actively involves children have pornographic sponsors, guys. Asides from the ethics of it, there could be legal consequences as well that no reasonable company is going to risk.

It's funny to envision millionaire group A with a bunch of scantily clad womenz peddling diabetes/cancer drinks pointing the moral finger at brokeass group B for having non-profane words printed on vinyl stickers on a dirt bike.

Onlyfans doesn't allow underage persons on their platform, because last time I checked you need a credit card to create a account (even to watch the free pages).

Also the two promotion bodies and the government body (AMA), need to calm down on rejecting sponsors...

As long as there are more "respectable" sponsors available I'd prefer they keep the sport more family friendly.  I don't judge folks for this stuff but I'd consider it "adult" type content.  This sport lives and dies by generational love and support.  Let the kids be kids till they grow up.

Im not trying to be a fuddy duddy but kids don't need to "grow" up too fast.  Let 'em have a childhood.Blush

Regardless of whether you think this rule is good or bad, isn’t it ridiculously late to implement a new rule regarding sponsorship opportunities 2 weeks before the season starts?  Insane!!

Not disagreeing with you but...

Onlyfans is a content provider with a subset of their content being what is commonly known as "pornography". Their initial content was mainly for "C-list" celebrity interactions for birthdays (if I remember correctly), etc. and it morphed into what it is now.

Comcast/Xfinity/Peacock is a content provider with a subset of their content being "pornography". Their initial programming was to provide local programming and MUZAK like services, then started carrying HBO in the late 70s.  Later on it morphed into offering "pornography" channels, movies, and on-demand "pornography".

They are both content providers with "pornography" as a subset of their products.  They are competitors.  One sponsors a rider, the other the entire SX/MX/SMX series.

Where do we go from here?

("pornography" is in quotes because it's hard to define but "we all know it when we see it")

You can't accurately say that only fans is porn, though you can say that there is porn on only fans. Kind of like how youtube isn't a murder site, but you can find murders on youtube.

You’re thinking of Cameo being the app for c list celebrities.

A lot of the people in here arguing the semantics of Only Fans and pornography need to read the actual statement and not the fake news title of this thread. Only Fans isn’t banned. “Content creators” whose content is pornography is not allowed. If your Only Fans sponsor is a nutritionist showing you how to eat and shop, have at it. If your sponsor is a platform whose content is adult content, i.e. Porn Hub, it’s not allowed.

It just makes me sad to live in a country where only fans can thrive. Not because it's porn, but because it means there's enough people who are stupid enough to pay for it on the internet.
