Lol. Sure, you can look stuff up like this and have your own opinions about it, and the whopping 10 reviews that are on there. But I went to Palmdale high school, grew up in Palmdale and still live in the area. I enjoyed Palmdale high school, had no issues. Also still work in the area at Plant 42. Anywhere you live you can find all the garbage you listed but it's not as bad as you make it out to be..LACR is one of the funnest tracks in SoCal. 40 minute drive will put you in cal city where you can free ride the desert or hit the track. I ride the hills of Palmdale all the time, illegal sure. But Palmdale has some of the best riding terrain around. Sucks housing development has ruined most of it.

Gotcha. He started off at Northrop and last year left for Lockheed. He was working some crazy Friday, Saturday and Sunday night graveyard shift at Northrop.

Honestly Matt I know you are talented I’d find another company to work for. That area is shit to live in. It’s like south central LA was in the 80s. Mainly because all the south central people have been forced out of LA because it’s cheap compared to gentrified LA.

I work for the government so the pay is rad, it’s actually a job transfer. I’ll be doing air traffic out there but the pay is better is the only reason I’m considering it. I can commute 45 minutes no problem. Probably end up homeschooling the kids so that’s not a problem. I’m tired of only riding for 6 months. I wanna give my boys an opportunity to ride as much as they want. It’s tough up here.

Yeah the 3/10's shift, work 3 days and get paid for 4. Has it's benefits I guess but I could never work just weekends. I'm sure it was nice having Monday-Thursday off

There are tracks and unlimited desert riding in the area, but you couldn’t pay me to live in Palmdale/Lancaster.  Not only do you have the meth heads (and chefs), but as South Central continues to gentrify and get more expensive they are exporting the gang bangers to the high desert.  You ought to spend some time in the area for a few days before making a decision.  Ad to that, the climate is like living on the moon.  Never ending wind and miserably hot summers.  Nice place to visit (with a dirt bike), but I wouldn’t want to live there.  Put private school in the budget.

Yeah it is really windy in ca. even the La area. High winds too .  I,ve been all Ovr ca. I think the weather & basically being there is really miserable. If you grew up in the desert those people seem to like the state.  Things you don’t think about like the extremely dry air & every inch of the west looks the same, no water like lakes or rivers. I can’t stand being in the dry air . The dirt is like moon dust. Why would you want to ride in it ? I get along with people everywhere. But you hv to jump start ca. people a little more to get them up & going, laughing or working.  There super chill. Lack of good looking women big time.

We gotta figure out how to meet up one of these days man. I ride the hills of LH/LE when we get rain and all the tracks on the other side of the hill also.

Definitely look into Acton/Agua Dulce area, Leona Valley, Lake Hughes/Lake Elizabeth as well. You can ride right out of the house in any of those areas while still being within 1-2 hours of pretty much every track in SoCal.

Don’t move there it’s indescribably awful. You’d be better off selling your bikes, buying surfboards and moving to Carlsbad.
The people here ( Carlsbad ) are borderline civilized unlike the  Palmdale/ Lancaster area,
it’s like “MadMax beyond the Thunderdome” up there .

I’d probably have to live in Lancaster or Palmdale. Just looking at what’s available for homes. So I would be driving to places and tracks to ride. Which isn’t a big deal. I have to drive far now. How are the tracks for kids? 50cc or 85cc kids? I would be looking for just a spot for me and the kids to just ride in a turn track for practice out in the desert

You want to be on the west side of the 14 freeway. Quartz Hill and their schools might be your best bet.

Cap is not wrong, anything west of the 14 is better than the east side. If the budget allows I say the Agua Dulce/Acton area is the sweet spot and as was mentioned there is zero traffic going up to the valley from there (and back home in the afternoon). That being said, the only thing that really bumps me about living in the Palmdale/Lancaster area is the wind, that shit can be relentless.

I think it is a good Moto area.

Id HIGHLY recommend Agua Dulce / Acton. About 20 Miles south of Palmdale. Not sure what kind of commute that would be for you but look into it. I moved there just under a year ago and absolutely love it. Im about 30 mins from LACR, an hour from glen helen (My fav), hour 20 from CCMX, hour 30 from perris, hour 30 from KCRP and Honalulu hills And lots of good desert riding and desert tracks.

theres also a handfull more of 2+ hour away good tracks I go to not as often. Cahuilla creek, Pala

Nothing against palmdale, but Acton area is certainly worth checking out. only 7k ish population and pretty concentrated with motocross riders. If your going to be coming to Palmdale area feel free to hit me up and i can tell / show you where to check out!!

Yeah it sucks for riding up here in the PNW in the winter. But, honestly I'd rather have to deal with that than moving anywhere in CA.

I worked in Acton for a while and completely forgot all about it. Unless it's changed, there is really not really much there in the way of convenience. No quick trip to an Auto Zone, Ace Hardware or a grocery store. Maybe that is the attraction of living in Acton. It's a world of difference from the west side of Palmdale and Lancaster.

You've been all over Ca. and couldn't find a lake or river? California is a big state, you needed to try a little harder.

We didn’t have lakes in our state , we built them. I have a neighbor at my lake spot that lives in Lake Elizabeth and works at Locheed Martin in Palmdale. He doesn’t ride but has good trails from his house. This is near Bakersfield 7E8FD187-2048-423F-B29B-D3E1B3B69187

That's the appeal of Acton/Agua Dulce, Lake Hughes/Elizabeth. More of a country style type of living with ranches around and where your neighbors always look out for each other. It's not for everyone though and I get that.

there is not a lot, no doubting that. From where I live in acton we have an ace hardware, acton market (that has everything Youd get at any grocery store), fast food places gas stations and good local restaurants and bars, bank, post office, salon and more all within a 5 minute drive. then right down the grade (15 minutes) you have santa clarita that has the home depot, trader joes, auto parts stores etc.

for me it has everything i need for the most part, plus to get to all of these places within 5 mins, we are talking not a single stop light. One stop sign to get to all of these places.

Plus, you can get a pretty decent house on 5-20 acres for less than a condo in ventura county where i moved from. Most of CA matter of fact.

Acton has grown some. There's an Ace Hardware and now has 2 small markets to shop at.

No offense to anyone that does not live near the ocean in CA, but for the money it costs to live in here you best be near the ocean or somewhere that it is amazing. If I had to live in the area you are talking about I would live in a different state.

Didn’t think Lancaster/Palmdale was that bad in my times there, but I am not from Ca. and believe that most of Ca. is great in comparison.

The crime and idiots running the show on the west side of the mountains of both OR and WA ruin it for most of us. I assume you already know that though

It's been, holy shit, 20 years since I worked there. I remember Acton market, they had good sandwiches. Where is the bar? The streets used to get rolled up at 7 back then, except for Acton Rehab. We were there all the time.

Lol this is the most San Diego comment I've ever seen.  I live inland and its great.  I've gone snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, and capped it off with a night time moto session at Perris all in the same day, if you play your cards right its a great place to be, even if you aren't next to the ocean.  There are also 4 lakes within 30 minutes from me.  OP, don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I have this in my comment: "or somewhere that it is amazing"

And for the record I moved here from Ventura and I liked it better in Ventura than SD.

It doesn't sound too bad where you are:

California, United States

In Canyon Lake, the summers are hot, arid, and clear and the winters are long, cold, and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 41°F to 88°F and is rarely below 34°F or above 96°F.
