It’s ridiculous that the rule is gone and they’re claiming he is still ineligible. The eligibility changed so he is no longer ineligible. Also ridiculous that the team managers are the ones who were given the ability to vote on it.

Triumph needs to put their legal weight behind him.

Kind like how they "don't pay Ams" They would figure out a way around this with ease

THIS.  It should be the same as outdoors where it holds the same rules as 450's.  They already get the same TV coverage and in some cases the racing is better.  make it 17 rounds and open for any pro to qualify.  Don't give the BS about job creation or privateers.  This is the highest level of racing in the world and the Teams would still hire the riders who produce results.

They just wouldn't hire as many of them, thus less jobs.

I don't really see how that's up for debate.

I think they should let him race a 250 in sx since they did change the rule. I also think feel that Savatgy is always whining about something.

Yea same here. I guess he's gotten shafted a few times, but he's always complaining.

With the rule change, which is already not a perfect one, I think it was fair to give these 2 riders a pass. If they were 20 riders it was a different story but adapting to the situation would have been quite fair indeed.

How many jobs are we realistically talking about… 20?

in my opinion they should make the 250 a national title 12-14rounds. The teams can decide which rounds they want the riders to race with a few being required for everyone to race (triple crowns) and final.

Yeah so next time we'll have some guy whining "They did it for Savatgy and McElrath, why wouldn't they do it for me?"...

Well, you could probably cut the Star, Pro Circuit and maybe some other teams in half.  So all those riders, mechanics and probably some other support staff, done.

Then you gotta consider teams that only race one coast like TiLube, AEO, Solitaire etc. etc. are those teams gonna go full time or they just gonna pack it in?

I agree that the 250 class is a little "broken" but I don't know that just shit canning the regional parts of it is the correct answer.

Savatgy had plenty of time in the 250 class, do we really need to change everything to let him back in?

There won't be a next time because the rules have been changed.

They have already changed. No need to change anything. Bewildering to see that the rule that forced him to move up, is no longer a rule, but is still being applied. Even if they let him back down, with the new rule it wont happen again and wont ever be an issue so wtf is the big deal. Personally i think he should be in the 450 class at his age and experience but god damn, AMA is making this way to big of a deal. Just let the 2 eligble guys back in if they want.

I don’t think he should be able to drop back down in either super or motorcross. He did his time in 250’s he’s battled for championships and came close to winning them. Should make him hold off until they release a 450

Let Sethvatgy ride!

Who cares if it's on a 250? These are professionals. If you can't handle the competition, you don't belong in the pro divisions on either size bike.

They should let any rider ride in any class. For a short term you'd have more older riders in the 250 class but the reality is, you always have fast guys coming up. And it would teach them better what to expect when they move up. The racing would be better for the fans. The riders would be better prepared to move up. And lastly most of the guys in last place are not moving up anyway, they become lappers that affect the outcome of the race. So lets replace the last place guys with guys that were not fast enough to stay in the 450 class but fast enough to school the kids. When the kids can kick ass on the old 450 guys they can move up to the fast 450 guys.

Flame away!

I wish they would let him down, and move on from the whole situation. Especially considering he’s on the new bike and team, great way to draw eyes on the project having a name like Joey there for supercross. Riding the 250 in the 450 class just gives vital ammo to shit on the bike, so unless you are very confident probably not the best idea.

He asked for a place based on changing a ruling as to his status as not qualified to drop down.  That's a helluva vote.  To say that the teams already in place have no say in that is ridiculous.

I don't favor the rule given how long so many mid-talents like JS milked that class.  Seems like this should have been sorted before a specific rider became an issue.

90% of fans want to see Joey race

99% want to see a Triumph race

math is simple.  The racing will be better.
