WSX will go in only one direction, a travelling circus with some races per year with fixed rider team. Kind of like monster trucks. Only way to make some money of the low quality arenas, poor operational management and lack of production capability they seem to suffer from.
If you want to participate in the world championship league, you cant line up with mainly divison/level 3 riders and team. That ain't how it works. Now it has been tainted, and sponsors and other dont want to be associated with b-level stuff and shaky owner situation. Not to mention the low quality footprint it seems to generate whereever it goes
If they can't be on pair with MXGP, AMA nationals or SX, they wont be able to get the world championship lable.
FIM is looking pretty poor for partnering with them and my guess is that they are out in a year or two.
They had one chance, and they did not get it right.

I liked the one that I watched, but I think they need to really market it to elite riders on the tail end of their careers who have some brand equity. They aren't going to get the Jett's and Chases, but as far as selling tickets and expanding markets, you don't necessarily need them (or maybe if you can get them to come in for a cameo appearance here and there.) I like the idea of elite guys being able to extend their career a bit and be ambassadors for the sport without watching them end cold turkey or get pushed further down in AMA SX. Like a 2016 Chad Reed or Marv right now.
I know that's not what the promoters wanted, but I think it could be the niche for that series. Or they could "SMX" the tracks a little and attract some MXGP talent other than French dudes?
People "From the F1 world" tried to get into the European Rallycross when FIA created the "WORLD RALLYCROSS". Tracks and promoters (Hockenheim, Barcelona, Silverstone, COTA, SPa, Instambul, Italy...not to mention all the manufacturers that joined the hype) but after 2 years, seeing there was no actual RoI, they all started to leave, leaving the championship on the grownd without basically nothing. They changed everything to appeal to these big money fellas, lost the likes of the actual fan base, and left. The championship is in such a mess right now, iwth electric cars "because the manufacturers wanted that" (but they left), the traditional tracks (literally the place where the sport BEGAN) are only now starting to come back, but the public is not happy with the "F1 world" product and are not attending... I dont think "F1 people" is the right call for other series.
Anyway... I didnt watched WSX after all... It doesnt look cool IMO. Hope they find a way to become an awesome thing, but right now its just a bad copy of the american series... Its NOT going anywhere with just a copy
Good grief, how different is that from the current MXGP series. Women in third world countries have scored points in MX2, they haven't been able to in WSX....yet.
I am all for it and hope it continues and prospers for the organizers, I for one love more racing to watch at the quietest time of the year.
That's like saying the KTM Junior challenge makes AMA SX look like a joke....
MXGP is mainly MXGP and MX2. Only ones running all ~20 races.
The EMX 2T, 125, 250, Ebikes, Women. They are all considered support classes.
I don't think it's a matter of if, but when, WSX folds.
I'm more curious to see if SMX and all that purse money continues on once the threat of WSX is vanquished. "Gee guys, the money in the new TV contract just wasn't there this time..."
Rally Cross was huge again, until recently, when people , like you say, 'smelled the money' and destroyed it all.
Now its a fucking EV pony show, and nobody cares, let alone the manufacturers.
The sport grew off its own back, had a great set of venues, and some awesome racing as a result, with some great cars .
And now they are shipping cars to race round a fucking car park in Hong Kong .
A lot of top 450 riders are on the back end of their career and a lot of new kids moving up soon.. there's only so many rides available. I think WSX allows top athletes to pursue a longer career, make a bit more money and a chance to travel a little doing what they love with a little less pressure.
but also.. i see more younger kids who hadn't got a factory ride in america or younger ones who need the seat time racing also doing the series.
In no way do i see it passing AMA.. AMA is the top step., overall i see it being a good thing all round and hope to see more riders race a little longer and more people in the industry getting the exposure they deserve.
Heck we could of seen Savatgy, Dean Wilson, Bogle and Colt on the sidelines all this year without a ride

It's not WSX round two, it's not thanks to Adam, and even though it's no bigger than Abu Dhabi, at least it will actually take place!

Cooper Webb was on record this year saying he wanted to do WSX but ktm wouldnt let him because they needed him to race outdoors. Maybe with the new schedule theyre going with next year where its only going to be 4-6 races in the off season after mxgp and ama motocross is over we could see more riders lining up to make some money in the off season.
It definitely was a clusterfuck this year with so many rounds getting cancelled, the conflicting schedule with the established series, and having such long gaps between races, but I have to say that once all of the racing ended this year and it was the off season I started feigning for some sx action to watch. I didnt watch the earlier wsx races because I only had so much time so I watched mx instead, but once the season was over I enjoyed watching the abu dhabi round and the melbourne round. Next year if they just take what they did with those 2 rounds and add 2-4 more races to it I think it would be a success.

WSX didn't have the money to hire both Webb and Roczen anyway. That's the minute we discovered the Mubadala bottomless pit actually had a bottom.

65 and 85 riders turned up from Europe and the USA for the final rd, so many ama pros have shown an interest in next season , especially a few that would love to compete in there own country
