I'm all for helping your kid in whatever way possible, but after reading through this thread and reading the comments about this guy on Jess' tiktok. This is a bold move to ask for donations and then steal from the same community you're asking for help from.
SMH 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

I don't know how much difference it makes to be "tough on crime" as far as being a deterrent. Good people don't need laws to act good, and bad people don't care about the law. It's more a matter of locking up criminals so they can't keep committing crimes.
'
Deterrents don't work because the morons who commit crimes don't expect to get caught. If they did the states with capital punishment would have a crime rate of 0.

Not trying to hate too much but that motorhome is darn nice. Got the dish out for Satellite viewing opportunities.
Whats the motor home worth. No way can I even afford one of those. I would have to restore and sell as many bikes as that guy stole to afford one. Some of you may take offense to that last comment.
What does that cost each month…… Down scale and tent it like I’m sure hundreds do already. Feel great that you are truly doing it for your son’s moto opportunities.
I agree asking for funds based on what has happened shows possibly some parents totally living outside their means.
Asking for money to off set your poor choices and using your son to pull heart strings is just very wrong.
Bingo, no gyms, no free education, perks. Etc
Man. that's sad. Between this and that mini-dad fight . . . pathetic.
Mx grifters… probably hard to repo a motorhome when it’s moving all the time…
A little off topic but Gatorback theft related -- I'm thinking about going there in January for a vintage race. Not sure if I will camp or stay at a hotel nearby. I seem to remember hearing about bikes being stolen there another time in the not-too-distant past. Has this been an issue other than this guy? I was also considering renting a U-Haul trailer and staying in a hotel - are there hotel areas (Alachuca or Gainesville) that people prefer where they feel okay parking a U Haul overnight? (Assuming it is also locked and preferably backed up to something like a wall or light pole!)
Yup.
I always wonder about people who defend criminals. Why would anyone want a world where theft (or worse) is acceptable? And if you don’t want crime, you have to be willing to punish people who engage in crimes. Even if it makes you uncomfortable.
Last offered thoughts on this debacle….
I think about those individuals who had bikes taken. What was their financial situation. Did they also have a massive motorhome with 2 pop outs at least. How many were actually affected by this one man’s choices. Suggesting the wife knew nothing about what was occurring is silliness. He wasn’t taking those apart during the day I imagine but at night. Why would he need to disassemble bikes at night.
There is no doubt the son knows of his father’s transgressions. Horrible for that young boy to now have to deal with what lays ahead. Other children his age can be viscous and unrestrained in teasing and other. He is marked for sure going forward as the races he may attend will be filled with persons who know.
I have no idea how those parents will even be able to show up at races with this black cloud they created over them. Moto community is too small for this to go unnoticed.
Outside the victims who may have or may not have been reunited with their possessions that son pays a steep price due to no fault of his own.
You make it sound like it’s ok to ‘steal from the rich…’
gtfo
i had my sons $7000 bike stolen two months ago…if you think it doesn’t effect me just because I was able to replace it then dang stay far away from me…
the emotional part of being violated, the idea that someone was on my property where my loved ones sleep, having to explain to my sons that they were still ‘safe’ in their own home…it effects people more than you know.
this family should be banned from top to bottom. The kid knew he wasn’t 4-6 yrs old while riding in those classes…he knew…you can’t tell me he didn’t…so his parents are creating a monster…
no place for any of them. Sorry.
And here we are. The reason this country is in the shape it is.
He could have easily been lying to his family, saying he was just working on it for someone, or maybe that he bought one that needed work, something like that. Odds are the wife's spidey sense would be tingling, but who knows if she was there, or if she even exists. All we know for sure is that someone named Drew Scott Johnson got arrested for grand theft and altering VIN's, oh and half of Vital wants to cut his hands off lol.
No we wouldn’t. You’d have to be a sick fuck to want to watch that.
When we were living in Swaziland in the early 90's (I was a little kid), people used to phone up and give you a list of stuff to leave outside so they didn't have to come in and rob you... Most people knew to do it so as not to catch a machete or have the place, and people, torched after being robbed. Hear it's getting bad over there again, all the best dude 👍
Anyway, fuck this Mini O's guy, sounds like a total waste of oxygen... Feel bad for his kid, little guy has a slim chance of being better than his father, if this is how he's being raised and the example he's being shown by him.
A lot of horrifyingly fucked up sentiments here. I'm all for punishing criminals, but geez, some of you are outright psychopatic sadists.
It’s unfortunate that your main take from my comments is stating I’m okay with stealing from the rich.
You apparently were too consumed with anger directed at me vs the situation I have nothing to do with.
As if you possess the sole license to express your anger over my comments as if no one else has been stolen from. I lost over twice as much as you did in a burglary of my business where there was no insurance to cover that. Do I get double your anger over thieves?
Pathetic with your over the top anger inferring somehow I was ok with other forms of theft. GTFO??? Really…..
An apology from you is the only way to correct what you wrongfully typed.
Pit Row
While removing hands might deter the handless thief...or slow them down even...I have been to the countries that use this "deterrent". There was always a line of folks waiting for the blade.
I didn't see any deterrent effect. Maybe some victim satisfaction and a lot of sick fucks that enjoyed the cruelty aspect.
I have given up any hope of prison rehabilitation. As long as the gangs run the prisons there is no chance of redemption.
I ain't offering any solutions but I know that public mutilation or hanging will NOT end crime...it don't work like that.
Not to mention the innocent people that are punished, Gonna sew that hand back on when you find out you got the wrong guy?
Of course you're from California. Anyone shit on your sidewalk yet today?
Or you could take the high road and acknowledge what you and I already know...the world is full of people that see life 180 out from ourselves.
Vital is not immune from this phenomenon. But...there are just as many that nod in response to your words...they just aren't as vocal as the contrarions.
Voicing outrage and hate seems to be the flavor of the day.
In the countries where this happens...I suspect the govt pays the super poor to sacrifice their hands/heads if the line of "guilty" gets too thin. The masses get upset if there isn't a full slate of chopping.
Public punishment may scratch an itch for some folks but it never was or will be a deterrent.
Alright, let's ignore the bike theft at Mini-O's and get philosophical, because let's be real this guy isn't the same as a thief who steals a loaf of bread for their hunger. This guy was stealing strictly for personal gain.
BUT if we're saying life is more valuable than property, then why aren't we, as functioning societies, feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, and providing free healthcare? Doing those will prevent far more theft than cutting off hands, but we don't do that either? Why? Is it because you value your hard earned dollar? Why do we not just open the borders and let everyone in if life is so valuable?
And we as a society are already hypocrites in this manner. Megan's Law makes people who have already served punishment go around door to door and profess their crimes, yet a paroled murderer doesn't have to do that. Why?
Again, at the risk of sounding like a barbarian, our society isn't set up to value life. We don't even live in a democracy anymore, just a corporate oligarchy, where Walmart has more power than you or I ever will.
It's funny how people generalize with a single word of "California". What you're talking about is what you'd find in certain parts of LA and SF, which total around 150 square miles. And even then, street poo is a fraction of that. Then there's the other 150,000 square miles of California, which don't really fall into the outsider's vision of "California", and we suffer the same exact same issues that others do.
What you're doing is like referencing Toronto for all of Ontario, which I'm sure you know is absurd. Plus, you're in Canada, so I don't expect you to have respect for our constitution, but for those that do, cutting off people's hands for theft is what idiots do in shithole countries, and we aspire for something better than that here, where we don't let our hate for criminals turn us into criminals.
Sometimes it's embarrassing to be part of the human race. This thread isn't helping that feeling,
As a species............we have room for improvement. Equal parts amazing and horrific.
Keep yer chin up or you'll miss all the good that DOES still exist. The world and the people in it are the same as they've ever been.
You can defend CA, but I wouldn't underestimate the feces problem...

I also don't think barbarism is the solution, but liberal policies of letting people get away with theft under a certain value with ZERO consequences isn't the solution... You are going in the wrong direction for sure. Do I want more prisons? Not really, but the punishments need to increase, not decrease for crimes committed. And if that means more places to lock up, then let's get them built.
Civilized people see humans as intrinsically valuable - that is, valuable in and of themselves, irrespective of their value as a means to another's ends. That's why we shouldn't do things like round up people with nothing material to offer anyone and no family connections and harvest their organs. Our whole system of medical ethics is founded on this principle - not based on actual practices or conventions, but on rational principles. You on the other hand, are committing the naturalistic fallacy: inferring an ought from an is (drawing conclusions about how things ought to be based on how things currently are) because you have no idea how to engage in philosophical reasoning. It's embarrassing.
Even the wrongness of stealing is grounded in the idea that by stealing from someone, you are exploiting them as a mere means to an end without regard for their interests. Persons have their own interests and ends, unlike mere tools that don't care how they are used, That's why the value of persons is not defined by the degree to which they are resources for others. If you don't grant that, then why object to stealing in the first place (other than the brute fact that you don't like it, but why should anyone give a shit about that if persons' interests don't matter?)?
