A friend of mine Anthony Vicencio recently started his own podcast that gives a lot of in depth insight into various aspects the sport, from riders to mechanics to suspension techs and more.  In the latest episode he had myself and Austin Cantalini, the owner of Electro & Co, on to talk about how our experience as been with our Stark Vargs so far, as well as dive into the technical side of electric bikes a bit to help get people up to speed on what’s going on in the space.  If you want to go deeper than a surface level discussion and really get down to the technical side of this revolution, this will be a good listen.

For those who don’t know Anthony has been following the full circuit as a tire changer for Dunlop and race support manager for Motion Pro for many years now, and has a lot of really good technical insight as well as general knowledge you won’t get from traditional Moto media from working directly with almost off the teams in the pits.  I highly recommend checking out the other episodes, but for the E-bike curious (or even apprehensive) this will be grounded and realistic discussion about what it all means and where things are going.  The first few minutes are a little bit of an introduction to what E&C is and moving to the new location, then after that the E-bike discussion begins.

(Also if you aren't a Spotify person, just search AV Podcast on any of the popular platforms and you'll find it there as well.)

Do you have any insight on who was racing an e-bike this past Saturday at the Reno EnduroX?  😜😜😜. Looked good out there.

I’m glad the bike looked good because the rider definitely dropped the ball Laughing.  It was a great day overall though, we proved the YZ-EMX prototype could handle endurocross with flying colors and I’m feeling really good about this kit now, still doing fine tuning on some parts and creating BOMs/build instructions but I think we can make our release date of early next year.

Electro and Co have great products, but I wish they had a phone number to contact them.

Have you been riding your Varg in Endurocross as well? If so, what has that been like?

Having an open phone number to contact is a much bigger logistical challenge then people realize, in order to make that work you essentially need to have someone available to answer all day for potentially any length of time, and right now that just isn’t possible.  The most effective way to provide support to customers currently is through email and we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

I chose to ride the EMX over the Varg, mainly because the EMX is about 25lbs lighter.  On a motocross track that isn’t really as big of a deal, but in Endurocross where it’s so low speed and requires a lot of rider input the weight makes a huge difference in rider fatigue.  I’m curious to see how Taddy does on his, I’m wondering if maybe they will build a special battery that is half sized (internally, I’m sure they will use the same case on the outside) for him to drop the weight significantly, the races are so short that it would not be a problem.

So you don’t like e bikes but click in an e bike thread???

much easier to just scroll past and not get yourself all worked up “for the love of vital”

So is it safe to say that he is not, in fact, looking to learn more about E-bikes?

So moto discussion can only be about specific no electric motocross bikes…?

it’s a moto bike discussion in the moto section.

why not have seperate forums for all bike types and size, maybe seperate forums for each brand of bike only? If you talk Tomacs bike in the moto forum and not in the Yamaha forum then you should go directly to jail.

moto is moto discussion. Whether it’s 2, 4, e or your smooth brained moto discussion.  It’s all valid in the moto section.

"Looking to learn more about E-bikes?"

 Absolutely not.

Except if it's a tutorial to start their auto-combustion.

If ya want to learn about E bikes just post on a forum with guys that pretty much only ride ICE bikes.  Makes about as much sense as a fart in a space suit.

It won't be too long before "e-bikes in their own thread" will be like "4-strokes having their own nationals."

You're welcome.

Dozens of Stark Varg propaganda threads already covered approximatley 843% of what I want/need to know about kitchen appliances on wheels.

Seems like all you ever do here is talk shit. Every WSX thread you’re there being miserable, every Stark thread you’re there being miserable. Is there anything you don’t hate? Are you ever positive? I feel sorry for you, living in your constant negativity like it’s a cancer.

The only people that have strong negative views of E bikes are the people who have never ridden one. I have yet to find anyone that has ridden a Stark and complained. Anyone that asks, I let ride my Varg. It never fails, riders are always blown away at how good it is.

Hate to break the news but in 10 years most of our sport will use electric motocrossers. Enjoy the good times while they last. Us old farts had to deal with 4-strokes in the early 00's, ya'll get to deal with battery powered motocross bikes today.

Good luck at the races!

A friend of mine has one on the way, they offered me a ride when it gets here. I am super excited. I own two 2-strokes and a 4-stroke. Once the tech stabilizes and we see more involvment from the big 6, I'm 100% in.

It's time to just change "VitalMX" to  "Varg-n-JETT-MX".

As to the comment of 10 years out, the sport will be all electric.   You'll have at least one fan who will be gone if that happens.     No racing sounds, no smells....no excitement....just the clacking of the chain and vrrrrrr.....vrrrrrr.....vrrrrr.  Hard pass.     I can watch drone racing for the same effect and without the chain clacking.    But I don't watch drone racing....I wonder why.

As is playing out in the real world, electric cars are NOT taking off...people are realizing they are not viable.

I'm in my 60s now and I first started following moto at the age of nine, so I've spent more than half a century watching - in real-time - the sport evolve. You can give the following comment whatever credibility you might choose to, but I've seen so many changes for the worse I've stopped counting them. I've watched the sport become out-of-reach financially for guys who love it the most, I've watched bikes become so capable the only thing that ever breaks is the people riding them, I've watched people get taken out and injured in PRACTICE sessions by nit-witted punks who thought it was funny, I've been far too high up in the air off jumps that were far too big looking down knowing in a few seconds I'll be headed to the emergency room (again), I've watched little tiny kids be ordered by their red-faced, raging fathers to clear 80-foot triples - or else - etcetera, etcetera - BUT - a new bike that allows a person to create a simple, fun-to-ride race-track in their backyard without the neighbors complaining will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, be one of those things I'll find troubling. The sport itself necessitated this evolution by way of its long-list of short-sighted choices - and all the downvotes in the world won't put a dent in that fact.

Not far behind you and agree 100%. I hate how politicized everything is today. Fuck dude, let people discover and love motocross on their own terms. It doesn't matter if they want a FE 450 or a cutting edge Stark ffs just be happy more people are coming into our sport.

Being dicks about electric motocross bikes isn't helping out the sport we all know and love.

Both Stark and WSX are probably the worst liars this business have seen in ages.

If you enjoy their crap dressed in flashy marketing bs, I sincerely pity you.
