Again, Coop was only in contention due to Chase Crashing at almost every round and Eli crashing at round 4 or 5 last year. The ONLY reason. It wasn’t because he was super fast. And you are right. That last two seasons before this one I said he wouldn’t win another one. Eli won in 2022, Chase 2023 and I will guarantee you Webb will finish 5th or worse in 2024. He’s 5 races in on the YZ and hasn’t been anywhere NEAR the front.

Well your record would indicate you will most likely be wrong again, but who knows? It’s hilarious how you guys are so sure of it year after year and he is still in the mix every season.

I don’t HATE Webb. I just don’t think he trains as hard OFF the bike as the other top guys. He’s a super smart and crafty rider, but he is not great in the whoops and I don’t think that YZ allows him to corner the way his KTM did. KTM’s are super light in the front compared to the YZ, Kawi and Honda.

Coop trains extremely hard off the bike, he’s just naturally a short, chunky dude. Have you seen how his dad is built? The dude is going to be fat as fuck after retirement if he doesn’t stay on top of his fitness.

That’s what is so interesting about you guys hating on him relentlessly. He’s not as gifted physically as Chase, Eli or Jett. He’s not as naturally gifted on a bike as those guys. He’s been an underdog his whole career and has exceeded all expectations. Every year he’s a factory 450 rider making millions of dollars winning races is a bonus. He was in AC’s shadow his whole amateur career and look at the record books now.

Can you honestly say you expected him to get a 450SX title? Give the man some damn respect.

He wasn’t chubby when he was winning titles with Aldon. Then in 2022 he came in to the season fat and nowhere near the front. Mid season realizes he needed to go back to Aldon.

And yes, after seeing him destroy everyone in 2015-2016 in the West and then the outdoor title, I did expect to see him up front. He’s never looked as good as he did in 2019. He came in to that season FULL of confidence. I think the latter years the pressure has gotten to him. Not necessarily at one particular race, but throughout the SX season.

Honestly answer this question. When have you ever seen a recent 450SX champ THIS far off the pace? He has not looked good on the YZ at all. 5 gate drops and hasn’t been anywhere near the leaders.

One thing thats definitely noticeable is hes like 20 pounds heavier than last year. I dont think having to lose a lot of weight is the best way to be building strength for the next year. Hes going to be running a calorie defecit and burning fat and you cant burn fat and build muscle at the same time. Hes definitely behind the ball on his fitness. That being said webbs a crafty mf and could figure it out.

Being 'crafty' was enough in the past, but it's nowhere near enough against Jett.  Add to this the fact that he's out of shape (again) and now 28-years-old.  Compared to Jett he looks fat, slow and old, well, not just 'looks' but is.

Keeps winning? He didn’t win a single race last year in SX that Chase or Eli didn’t crash in. A total of 2 wins. Webb looked awful in SMX. He’s been riding and training with STAR team every day. The Lawrence brothers dropped him 13 seconds in 10 minutes. If it had been a 20 min main he would have been 25-30 seconds behind. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

You’ve gone out of your way to talk shit on Coop for the last 2-3 screen names you’ve have, of course you’re going to overlook the fact he was in contention to win the championship. Of course he’s not as fast, but there’s more to winning races and championships and Coop is the perfect example of it. 2x 450 champ. Don’t forget it. I know it burns you.

Of course he could have won the last supercross championship and you could say he was in 'contention' due to the points gap through most of the season, but the stats on how many wins it usually takes to win an SX championship would say otherwise.  Anderson won with 4, but you could argue he was mostly taking podiums to manage the championship, and Dungey won with 3 during one of Tomac's weirdo years. Apart from these, the average amount of wins needed since 2011 is 7.

2011. RV. Six wins.

2012. RV. 9 wins.

2013. RV. 10 wins.

2014. RV. 7 wins.

2015. Dunge. 8 wins.

2016. Dunge. 9 wins.

2017. Dunge. 3 wins.

2018. Anderson. 4 wins.

2019. Webb. 7 wins.

2020. Tomac. 7 wins.

2021. Webb. 8 wins.

2022. Tomac. 7 wins.

2023. Sexton. 6 wins.

Do you work for the firm doing Webb's PR?

Most of what you say is either false or the kind of stuff Webb constantly says as part of his own narrative.  I've already said this earlier in the thread but Webb was never a 'chunky dude' until recently.  Look at pics of him as a kid, teenager, on 250s and most of his 450 career he's not been fat.  He's only been fat the last 3 or so years when he's not working with Aldon. I disagree he's been an underdog his whole career. He was a top amateur and apart from having to go with Star when he first went pro, he has always had top level rides.  Sure, he got beaten by AC but so did everyone.  Finally comparing AC against Webb is pretty unfair considering AC has been battling physical problems which seriously curtail what he can do.

None of this is to say Webb is not an amazing rider.  He's in the elite of the elite and world class.  But there are people ahead of him who are even better.

I’m talking in a season bud. 1 race means nothing if you can’t be in it the whole series. He is always right there throughout a season.

As someone mentioned earlier, last SX season he was in 2nd place in the points and gaining steam until he took the shot to his head.

You may be right, but who knows.

I know he didn't have the speed but he was doing a lot of cool little things Kenny and the Lawrences were and looks good on the bike. I don't think he'll win next season, but I won't count him out because he's Cooper Webb. I'd be happy to see him get another championship.

Still getting back into the swing of things with the Yam, he's still an elite level dude and if anyone can tough it out and capitalise on opportunities it's him, but even if he's 6th or 9th come next season he's still a bad dude on a bike.

Nah I'm not buying that as an excuse. The reason why???

All the ama guys are there for the same reason. Jo, Kenny and the Lawrence's. None of them are going to take huge risks for a meaningless off season race. They all have the same to gain or lose. So that puts them all back on an even playing field and coop is still getting waxed.

Also I've herd the excuse webb is on a new bike.

But he has prob had more time on that bike then the Lawrence's have on a 450 at sx. It's literally the Lawrence's debut 450 sx races. So come a1 those boys could potentially learn more a lot then webb. Another nonsense excuse.

I noticed in the Paris presser footage, Webb looks a little chunky. I also noticed this back when he left Aldon and went with Byrne for the start of 2022. Aldon's riders always seem so damn lean, almost sickly looking. Not sure what is better, super lean or having some fat stores on you, but it is so noticeable when people jump on and off Aldon's program.

Yaa I thought Webb was lookin a lil thickkk too lol

Well he’s got a lot of ground to make up.  KTM released him from his contract back in early July; that was over four months ago.  He raced most of SX and the first four rounds of MX so he was race fit at the time.

Didn't do much at SMX and now two months later is still, in relative terms, a long way back.

Exactly.

Times have changed. Look at eli for instance.

His sx career hasn't exactly been spectacular. He has 2 titles. But chips away and consistently wins 5-8 races every year but has raced longer then the generations before him. Now he has 50+ wins and isn't that far off. So using eli as the yard stick. A modern rider only has to be slightly better then eli and they will eventually pass McGrath.

Its going to take is 6-7 wins a year for 10-12 seasons. If tomac was winning 450sx races at 20-23 he would be right there in terms of wins with the king. So I don't think it's that unfathomable.

Seems he is just same speed with his new Star Yamaha as was with KTM. 5min short mains he was 20 sec back so that will be lap down on full main event. I dont see new Yamaha working that great at whoops so where better speed would come as his KTM wasnt too bad turning. His crafty days he used to holeshot race and keep pack behind on tight arena cross track as Roger asked series to cut woops down. Now track are more open and whoops are back in game so with starting 5-6 for Webb isnt working.

Time for Webb to start looking for some fast food jobs. He'll have more success flipping burgers than keeping up with these boys.

Besides it looks like that's his diet now days anyways. Win/win situation for Cooper "Never Sniff a Championship again" Webb.

Obviously this one off race in Paris doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme, and he’s got time to get faster and in better shape…however, that bike doesn’t look good at all to me, seems like it’s riding him compared to the other 3 he’s racing, who look light as a feather on their setups. He never looked good on the yz450 in the past, some peoples style just works better on certain manufacturers. Webbs strength has been his ability to cut down in corners and get faster as the SX track breaks down. Idk I have my doubts we’re going to see him at that 2021 level again on a blue bike.
