Anyone service the air filter yet on the 24? Wondering on ease and if it seems to seal well?

Up to 2.8 hours on the 2024. Things I've learned so far. 2018 acerbis plastic skid plate fits with trimming/modding. The exhaust has two separate wire screens in it that I removed and helps a lot with bottom end power. There's a rubber plug under the battery tray that can be removed to get more air to the air box. For the mapping the bike feels rich. I went -2% leaner on fuel 30% throttle up and across the whole rpm range. Ig timing went up 2% advanced 30% throttle and up. For the chassis it turns way better than previous years. The forks kinda of suffer from the same feel as previous years (tends to dive and feel harsh) and for the shock it has very good feel with minor adjustments. Only negative is the air filter I hope it continues to seal to the airbox rim to keep dirt out.

What is negative about the air filter?  I thought it was supposed to be easier to access?

The filter can easily be distorted on the cage and causing it to have gaps around the sealing edge. It's super easy to access just needs a better quality foam filter.

What springrate does the 24 come with?

Does the rear spring from 23 fit or is it a different spring on the new bike?

They changed the linkage/shock right?

5.5kg on the shock.  .51kg for the forks.  I don't know if the 23 will swap, the linkage is much different because the shock has been relocated for the intake tract.

23 forks fit the front caliper bolts right up. The 24 triple clamps are the same part number/offset as the 23 too. The shock and linkage are completely different lengths.

That's surprising that the Nissan caliper and Brembo caliper carriers both fit. That's cool that Kawasaki did that. I'm suprised so many parts swap over with how different the 24 looks.

One thing no one has mentioned is the rear hub is much different, old wheels will fit but it’s a new design.

If someone wants to upgrade to Brembo on a showa fork, the new kawi hanger should work. Might work on some kayaba forks also.

I haven’t found an aftermarket filter available yet and Kawi filters aren’t available yet. How easily did the insert in the muffler come out?

11/14/2023 4:45pm

Spent some more time on mine this afternoon.  What I have learned is that it is very smooth.  I had to get used to letting it rev.  It will pull 2nd gear so far that my mind tells me to shift to 3rd about half way through second.  Once I got that figured out, you can let second pull and there is no need to shift into third in any of the corners I rode. I feel like 1 tooth on the rear would help, but I probably just need to let 2nd do its job and shift less.

Chassis is almost perfect in my opinion.  I am a die hard Suzuki guy, so I like a bike to carve.  The 24 KX is stable, and carves.  The suspension is extremely good for stock...both front and rear.

There is an annoying chain rattle at low RPM under load that I need to get rid of and then I think she is good to go.

Also, need to learn how to make mapping changes.

I had to take the core out of the muffler. There's two rings spot welded to the core. I just pulled the wire screens off the rings with long needle nose pliers until all of it came off. Took about an hour to do. Hopefully twin air comes out with a nice filter and cage kit soon🙏

It feels awesome.  The ergonomics are perfect for me. 6' tall 170 lbs.  Also, yes.......a new bike always feels awesome.  Let me know if you have any specifics you are looking for.

Brembo have offered front brake setups for Jap bikes for some years. Take a look at their website.

So the frame is very similar to 19-23? They didn't mess it up?

It's has all the same characteristics as the old frame but feels more nimble in the turns. The 24 can get into the inside lines way easier and still feels very stable in the straights. The ergo's feel very similar as well.

Hopefully in about an hour MXA will post their video and give us everything they hate about it and then some, per usual. I already know they're gonna rip Kawasaki for the weight.

Well, that and the fact that it isn’t orange.

Put 1.6 hours on a 24’ today at GH. If you ride a 2019 - 2023 KX450 now, don’t feel like you necessarily have to have one…But it will be a great replacement once your current ride times out! As a current KX450 owner, most impressed with the even smoother ergos, easy to ride nature, mapping suite, and awesome brakes (240 mm was wayyyy better once the rain came than the 250 mm design and the Brembo front is bliss for heavy front brake users like myself).

After watching the mxa video I’m curious about this rear break. They complained about fade. I love the rear on my 19-23 gen kx450 and I’m a heavy breaker so hopefully the break isn’t an issue.

are you a media guy?  Either way you are one of the lucky few that got to be there today.

how was the main?  It was super rough yesterday afternoon - 1.6 h on that track with stock suspension is a beat down for sure.
