I've purchased a 6D helmet but i'm finding goggles are now pinching my nose. I have never had any trouble before with other helmets.
The goggles i've tried are 100% Strata 2, Leatt 4.5, Leatt 6.5 and Fox main.
Does anyone else have this trouble or recommend a set of goggles that fit properly in the helmet
Using Scott prospects with no problems
I have had the same problem with Bell and had to find a smaller goggle to get rid of it. I bought a 6D but I think the problem is I have been buying to large of a helmet so it sits lower on my head so goggles are pushing down on my nose. I am going to buy a Medium liner to see if that fixes it.
6D is definitely the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned. In fact, I literally have a new spare and visors because I like them so much. I had the same problem when wearing 100% goggles as well pushing down on my nose, and I need all of the help breathing as I can get so I had to switch. The problem I found, 100% (and some others) have a lot of rise to the goggle frame above the eyebrow area. So the top of the goggle ends up rubbing the helmet padding pushing down on your nose. I ended up switching goggles to Oakley (Front Line in my case) which were a bit more spendy, but had just enough less rise to keep the goggle from pushing on my nose bridge.
This ☝️.
6D and Scott = ✅
6D and 100% = no bueno
…and I love the 100% with my Shoei evo.

I'm using a 6D and 100% Armega's and they fit perfect for me. I'll also use the Scott Prospects occasionally, but they tend to put pressure down on my nose so I prefer the 100%'s.
6D and EKS brand goggles. I can also use the Oakley O-Frames, but not the pricey ones.
I currently wear a 6D ATR-2 and a Bell Flex. The goggles I have found that I like the best that do not pinch my nose are Oakley Airbrakes and Fox Vues. I do have a 100% Armega and EKS Lucid and they do not fit my face nearly as well at the others mentioned but I do not believe the helment has anything to do with that.
Do you have the pinching problem if wearing the goggle with no helmet?
Have used 100% armega and oakley airbrakes with no problems..
This. It's personal and subjective. It's all about how particular helmets sit on your head and whether or not they push down on the goggles. Answers are going to be all over the map in this thread because everyone is different.
I've even had helmets that were fine early on but later in the day when the pads got soaked with sweat and started sagging they pushed the goggles down on my nose. Or as the helmet got older and the pads got more broken in.
I use spy’s with my 6D’S without any issues I felt FLY helmets were hard to use different brands though
I use Flow Vision with my 6D, I have to angle them in but once they are on no issues on my end. Cheers
I’m having this issue with Astars SM10 helmet and 100% Armega. Any recs?
Get the Fly carbon helmet. I love Astar products but the helmet is junk. Cracked it after one hard crash and knocked me out. Had much harder crashes in the Fly and never saw stars.
I have a 6D ATR-2 and Oakley Airbrakes, fit is great.
The goggles don't pinch without the helmet and fit fine with my old alpinestars helmet. It seems the forehead part of the helmet pushes the goggles down which then pinches my nose.
goggles are too fuckin big these days. I have good luck with Oakley o frames in my 6d atr 1 and atr 2. 100% armada or whatever the fuck theyre called don't pinch in the atr2 but its def close. Id rather ride with shit in my pants than a goggle pinched nose.
Same here. I’ve been wearing 6D for many years with the 100% Armegas and have no issues. Have a pair of Oakley air brakes that fit well too.

More info on this.... Shoei sells optional size inner liners and cheek pads to customize the fit of the helmet. Recently my VFX-Evo's have been pushing my goggles down, especially as the liners get sweaty and/or older after it's been washed a bunch of times. The helmet would actually get loose to the point I'd find myself using my shoulders over jumps to push back up on it to get my goggles off my nose. I'd been trying to get some of the optional liners but they always seemed to be out of stock. Recently, Shoei-USA (Helmet House) has had them in stock so I got some of the +3mm liners. Total game changer. It makes the helmet sit up just a little higher on my head and resists sweat sagging better. Before, I had to wear the Scott Fury's as the Prospects were just too big and made it worse. Now I can wear the Prospects with no prob. They sit correctly on my face now.
More info. Some of you may not be aware, Scott just updated the Prospect to the Prospect 2.0. Of course Scott mentions all the cool new features but nothing about the fit of the goggle. I tried a pair this weekend and they actually fit a fair bit different. The main difference is the nose opening is absolutely huge compared to the last gen Prospects. Way more room for guys with a large schnoz. The goggle also feels like it stis just a hair higher on the face and has less tendency to sag and push down on the nose.
Comparison of Prospect (blue) and Prospect 2.0(red)
The New Alpinestars Supertech Goggles work well with the SM 8 and SM10 helmets. I have been wearing Scot prospects until I got a pair of the Alpinestars to try. I still plan on buying some Prospect 2's to rty out before I go all in on the Supertechs. But they so far have been great. They have 2 pieces that go between the strap and frame that angle the goggle back a little and put more of the pressure from pulling the strap tight focused towards the forehead. The foam feels a little stiffer than my Prospects, but softer than the Armega .
Worth trying them. Any Parts Unlimited dealer can get them for you if they do not have them in stock.
I got some to try and I thought they would be difficult to sell. Since most of my customers are pretty set in the brands of goggles they wear. Most being Vet riders that have years of spares . And 100% being everywhere and so easy to get tear offs for. But I've gotten more positive feedback on the set I got for myself ,from customers than I expected .
The boxes open and are very similar to the 100% Armega box. So Its easy to open and take them out without damaging the packaging. Swapping lenses is insanely easy. I started to make a comparison video and while filming close up shots of the lens release ,I popped the lens out by mistake. Not something that can happen while wearing them. But super easy to do when holding them and looking at them in Your hands.
I have a 6D that I do not wear because the Alpienstars fits me much better, so I'm not sure how they would work in the 6D. I don't have the newest one . I want to try an ATR-3 at some point too. But I would try some of the Supertechs. Try them on at a local dealer, or if a buddy has some. They are a really nice goggle.
FWIW, I have never owned or worn any 6D helmets. But I recently had an ATR-2 and ATR-3 side by side to compare. They both felt exactly the same on my head as far as fit goes. The 6D rep told me they did not really aim to alter the fit much on the ATR-3 but that some guys with round shaped heads that experienced temple pressure in the 2 have said they do not in the 3. I just ordered an ATR-3 so we'll see how I like it shortly.
I'll still try one out at some point. I wore Shoei's for years. I never got the newest Shoei . I started selling the Aplinestars helmets and tried one on and have not worn anything since. I did grab a solid black 6d Atr-2 when they had a sale . I never really gave it a fair chance . I tried it on one time and put it on the shelf to sell.
The way the EPS is in the newest generation of SM10 (2024+) might have changed the way it fits enough that the 6D would fit me better. I have not tried the newest SM10 yet either. But all of them that I have sold have fit tighter than the earlier version. They got rid of the little pockets that a speaker could fit into . I have not noticed any other changes to the EPS . I should take another look at the 2 side by side. But that little bit of extra EPS seems to have made the helmet tighter to the point I've had customers go up a size. People that wear a medium have gone to a Large. So far I have not had to have anybody go up from a Large to an XL. But customers have said the large felt a little tighter. I had a few people that needed the +5mm cheek pads to get the 2023 and olderSM8/SM10 to fit well. So far with the new helmet nobody has needed to get the + pads.
I got the new SM10 and started riding in it last week. I think the tighter fit thing is that the cheek pads are a fair bit larger now. They actually swap directly with the old cheek pads though so if you prefer more room around your ear and have the old one you can just swap them. Also there is the little bumper thing for collar bone impact that you can remove as its sandwiched between the cheekpad and the EPS. Now that I've worn it a bit I don't thing it really fits any smaller than the previous gen, its more the larger cheek pads that just cover more of your face that makes it a little tougher to get on and off and provide a more secure feel.
I've got a new generation XL here. Those are the same as the XXL except for the liners right? I noticed the cheek pads of the XL liner looked a bit thicker than the 2XL liner. But they were not the same size so I figured most of it was that. I was thinking of trying my 2XL liner in the new XL. And seeing how it fit. I don't have a lot of customers that wear a 2XL so I have not had one of the new generations here to try yet. I've sold a bunch of Medium and Large SM10's so far.
I've been busy so I have not really had a chance to try it out and could really use a hair cut right now so its gonna be a little tight anyway, I'll give them a try and see how it feels. My regular helmet is on the snug side with all the extra hair.
in my opinion this is 100% a helmet fitment issue not a goggle issue. For 6 years i wore a shoei helmet and i dealt with goggles pinching my nose. i thought for sure it was the shape of my face so i dealt with it. Last year i switch to a TLD helmet, and my GOD, no more pinched nostrils. I wasted 6 years of my life with a pinched nose and ill fitting goggles simply because my Shoei didnt fit my head correctly. comparing the two helmets, the shoei sat much lower on my head, covering more of my forehead and ultimately pushing the goggles down.
It's the combo of the helmet and goggle and how they sit on each individual's head. Very subjective. You should have tried the optional +3mm liner for the Shoei. I recently was experiencing the exact same thing as you with my Shoei. I could tell it was from the helmet sitting too low and it would get worse as the pads got older and more clapped out and worse in each day as they got more sweat soaked. I got the +3mm liner and it was a total game changer. Made the helmet sit just enough higher to keep the goggles off my nose.
Thread revival because I can’t deal with this anymore lol. I’ve tried kids goggles wife’s goggles other people’s goggles. I cannot find anything that won’t squish my nose damn near shut wearing my 6D.
EAmoto you still happy with the TLD ?
Googles are too big. I got a sweet deal on a Fly Formula or whatever it was with Bluetooth/dial up if you hit the ground. It pushed my 100% goggles down on my noise bad. Old school Scott main’s not as much but still some. Had to send it back and bought another Bell. Even with a Bell which fits me the best I still have a little pressure on my nose. I just have to live with it.
I’m a XXL guy. I was a long time Shoei guy, but switched to Bell when the Moto9 came out. When the Moto10 came out, it didn’t fit my head and rubbed my forehead bad. Went to the 6D ATR-2 and have been very happy with fitment. I use 100% Goggles too… Have an ATR-3 now and could not be happier. Very light, which is huge for my bad neck. I don’t get out often, because of my neck issues, but I wouldn’t be able to ride with anything else at this point.
I tried on the A-Stars helmets and they didn’t agree with my head shape.
I don’t know how I ever rode with anything old Shoei Vfxr or an old Arai helmet. They are very heavy and hard on the neck.
