Honda Confirms Hunter Lawrence to Campaign CRF450RWE in 2024
Reigning 250SX East and Pro Motocross 250 Champion will move up to Premier Class
TORRANCE, Calif. (October 30, 2023) – Team Honda HRC confirmed today that Hunter Lawrence will move up to the 450 class for the 2024 season, competing in the AMA Supercross, AMA Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross series. The 24-year-old Australian, who last season earned crowns in the 250SX East Region and 250 outdoor series, will campaign the factory Honda CRF450RWE alongside his brother, Jett Lawrence.
A native of Landsborough, Queensland, Australia, Hunter raced Down Under and in Europe before signing with American Honda’s Factory Connection satellite squad for the 2019 season. He was promoted to Team Honda HRC for 2021, and after his first two years with Honda’s factory squad saw him finish second and third in the indoor and outdoor series, respectively, he delivered championships in both series in 2023.
“I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished in my 250 career, but it’s exciting to move up to the premier class for 2024,” Hunter Lawrence said. “I feel like my style is well-suited for the CRF450RWE, and off-season testing has been going well so far. I enjoyed battling with Jett in the 250 class before he moved up, and I’m looking forward to doing that again now that we’re both on the big bike. I’ve got a great team around me, and I can’t wait to get back in action at Anaheim 1.”
“It’s a pleasure to move Hunter up to the CRF450RWE,” added Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Experiential Marketing at American Honda. “Since joining our team three years ago, he has consistently made a positive impact, in terms of results but also for the constructive, optimistic influence that he invariably brings. Last season saw him earn the 250 titles that we all knew he was capable of, but he’s also a very good 450 rider. We look forward to him adding to his success now that he’s in the premier class.”

"Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends."
Butter!
I don’t know who is in marketing at HRC but they are at the top of their game right now. The goodbye to Chase was very classy and the welcome to Hunter to the big bikes is also classic. I’d love to see more banter videos between the two of them through the year, having brothers on the same brand competing against each other is pretty unique and as long as they both stay healthy it could get very interesting.
From the press release:
Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Experiential Marketing at American Honda.
He's doing a fantastic job.
Cool video! The whole HRC team will be fun to watch. Best of luck to the 96 in 2024.
A lot of people sleeping on Hunter it seems? I think your prediction is reasonable, but seems the down voters think it’s wrong. I’d be interested to hear their reasons why.
Give em apples!😆
Looks like Honda wants another SX sweep, stacking the deck!
These two are legit working together to push each other faster and faster.
KTM's 1-2 Chase won't be practicing with with Aldon /Aaron
Yamaha's 1-2 Eli won't have Webb to push him (also probably not fast enough to push him)
Kawasaki's 1-2 Do Jason and Adam practice together?
Suzuki - will Kenny practice with Chase or was that just because he wasn't racing at the time?
The Hunter brothers will be tough to beat.
Hell yeah!! Best intro video ever! So much better than the typical over processed PR..
If Chase struggles you will see him at Aldons. Eli does his on thing in Colorado for the most part and that won't change. I think Adam and Jason test together but Jason does most of his work in NM.
Love it! These two are a marketing dream.......................
great video … a super close second to the TLD Ryder D video but awesome nonetheless. I am hoping for a strong humbling of Jett showing from Huntah in his 450 debut!
Great Vid.
Pit Row
Man I am SOOOO glad I bought tickets to A1 this year. The testosterone is gonna be off the charts.
More than a few have flat said that Hunta is faster than Jett on a 450. It'll be very interesting to see if that's true.
Don't see why that's not possible, Jett has learned from Hunter all along.
Who reckons he can take the fight to Jett?
In SX maybe. MX nobody will beat Jett unless he gets injured.
Quite the opposite to me as far as vids go.
No big deal anyway, as already said, nice change from the usual press release.
This video is not working for me. Just plays the ad.
Another horribly kept secret.., Glad to see the field continue to get stronger. Deep….
I wonder how the first couple of SX race interactions with JA21 and JB51 will go for the Hunter brothers…. Love it!!!
I am not sure it is getting deeper. It is being refreshed for when Tomac, Anderson, Barcia, Roczen, and Webb ride off into the sunset. Hunter is the same age as Chase. I really think the upcoming season will be the two brothers and Chase dominating the podium. I expect Jett or Chase to get the most wins, but you never know what will happen.
Looks comfortable.
To have Hunter sleep on his lounge while Emma and Dazza gave me his bedroom for so many years of coaching and see where they are now is just a continuous dream of my twin boys taking Nats tittles and racing AMA. Best part was passing on my mistake of sending my boys off overseas alone and encouraging them to sell up and never let anyone between them and there kids.
Yup, same here. I won't be surprised at all if he lands with a title in his rookie year. It can happen. And honestly, with how the hrc's bike is looking, I would be as much surprised if he is outside the top 5 in each championship. There will be some so so races, no need to hit the panic button with a top 12, but I think he will be a contender for many podiums, I currently see him (at least) in the group of Roczen, Webb, Anderson, Barcia, Mookie and Ferrandis (if he has a bike...). Maybe a notch off Tomac, Sexton and his bro, but not far off. In all cases, get some pop corn because we are all in for a very nice championship.
