San Diego to Anaheim ? Presuming you’ll be taking the 15 - 91 route ? Going straight up the 5 all you’ll see is tract housing, traffic and those effing Zonie tourists getting in everyone’s way.
15/91 - you could spend a week checking stuff out. If I chose just two it would be TLD & PC . Troys place is super cool and has that insanely trick DMC/ Eddie Hicks YZ85 on show and PC has a great display of all the old championship winning bikes from over the years. Have fun 👊🏻
What’s a zonie tourist?
People from Arizona . They all bag on California but come out here on vacation by the bloody boatload every chance they get. Useless .
Pro Circuit, TLD, Glen Helen (Thursday is normally the day the pro's practice, not sure about SX though) Pala is between SD and Anaheim. Chaparral is fun to check out if you have time to burn. There's a Carlsbad memorial that overlooks where the old track was in Carlsbad, pretty boring (and depressing if you used to race there) but it's something moto orientated if you're looking for stuff to see, and it's close to the 5 freeway. Cahuilla Creek is a cool track to check out, plus there's a hotel and casino a couple miles away, you didn't say how many days or how much time you have to explore ?

You’ll be sitting in traffic no matter what freeway you take from SD to Anaheim. You’ll actually be in an hour or two more of traffic if you go 15-91, sitting at the Temecula immigration checkpoint all the way to hot springs rd. Then sitting on the 91 from main st. Alllllll the way to green river, If you’re lucky. I drive these fucked freeways everyday 😞
Pro Circuit and Chaparral Motorsports. Might as well see Glen Helen, too, since it is right there in that area, too.
I thought I had heard TLD is closed to the public now? Bummer if so because that was a cool shop to go in and see the painters.
None of it is nearly as cool and awesome as out of towners have it blown up in their head to be,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I've never been to any of the socal moto tracks except fox raceway, but I would recommend perris raceway, cahuilla and glen helen. For shops, chaparral, PC, Malcolm Smith, and Langston motorsports. A somewhat popular moto spot is ocotillo wells, which im actually going to this weekend and the weather is in the 80's but it will be much cooler around the time you want to make the trip. If you have a camper, camp at orangland rv park, you pass the stadium on the freeway and it isn't far from there, Keep in mind that california has the worst traffic, so plan aheadd, and maybe bring a few jackets, pants and maybe shorts and long sleeves and short sleeve shirts just in case, The weather is bipolar here, one day it rains, the next its 85 and sunny.
Thanks man! We have a ton of time so I can travel wherever we need to go. TLD and PC are on the list.
I'll definitely add Chaparral to the list and see if we can get up to Glen Helen. 👍
But if you got nothing... anything's up from there.
Hey Chopper...we met at Daytona this year. Hope that TLD is open. I was wondering if Pulp or Whiskey Throttle (TLD) was going to have a show this year.
been to anywhere other than cali lately? lots of useless CA plates infesting the roadways everywhere now driving under the speed limit in the left lane not knowing where they are going driving erratically… not just summers when those from AZ come out to the beach for vacation when it’s 115 degrees, mate!
It’s possible I’m losing my mind but I’m 99.9% certain I wasn’t at Daytona this year.
I looked up TLD and they’ve got store hours listed for their HQ so I think it is still open to the public. Maybe they were just closed to the public during Covid.
Fox HQ in Irvine used to have a retail storefront. Not sure if that exists after private equity came in, but was a very nicely stocked and merchandised store awhile back.
Nah, its cooler and awesomer than that.
I stopped by PC earlier this year with a buddy and asked for a tour the Friday before A2. During the walk through, we asked Schnike some questions, we ended up chatting for a coupe hours and he even took us up top to see Mitchs collection of stuff.
Was freaking awesome.
Useless eh?...Englishman talking shit on Arizonan's and Californians going wherever they fuck they want in their country?
Bit rich.
Lol tract housing? As opposed to the quaint, one of kind housing you find in the IE?
Pit Row
If you are going from SD straight to Anaheim for the SX. 15 fwy to the 91 fwy is NOT the route. Going the preferred route up the 5 fwy you’ll pass many beach towns that have more to see than “tract housing”. If you get out to see moto stuff the 15-91 would do but you’ll hit traffic from Temecula to the 215 split but shouldn’t be terrible that time of year unless it’s Friday or Sunday. You’ll go a little out of the way on that route to get to TLD and PC but it’s cool to see. Chaparral is impressive and from there you are only 15 or so minutes from GH, also awesome to see in person. Cameras don’t do Mt St Helen justice.
Enjoy!
Cool. What you outlined is pretty much what we're gonna do.
Up the 15-215 you’ll pass Temecula Motorsports and Langston. On the 91 you’ll also pass Malcolm Smith if you want to hit more shops.
You could take the 5 North and get off at Beach Cities exit in OC at Dana Point; cruise up the PCH to Laguna Beach, check out TLD store and walk around main beach, have lunch, etc.. Then take PCH up to Newport Beach, maybe cruise Balboa Island or harbor and then stop by 3 Bros Racing. Then can take the 55 towards Anaheim to make A1.
Don't forget the races are starting 2 hours earlier next year.
Not moto but since you're already going to be in San Diego Sunday morning, it's fun to go to Torrey Pines Glider port and watch guys jump off the cliff and fly around with hang gliders and those paraglider parachute things. They serve food on a little patio by the launch point and give tandem rides if you're feeling adventurous...
Just something else to put on your vacation radar.

Not Moto - but the Petersen Automotive Museum is a worthwhile visit. I try to go there each time I'm in / near LA. I'm not really a 'Car Person', but I always enjoy going there.
I see at the moment they've a Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum exhibition on. "Around The World On Two Wheels". Might be some very cool bikes among that, and, there's a Porsche exhibit on, plus, I think a Herbie (the Vee Dub / Love Bug) exhibition on, A Movie Car ( in general) exhibit, Corvette, etc etc ........
GH is worth a look/see. A drive across Crestline doesn't suck.
