He was so solid last season in SX.

Hasn't there already been some talk of this? Lopes used a clause to get out of the extension with Club after getting a late offer from Star. And having already committed to Club. In my opinion it was disrespectful of Lopes to do that the way it sounds like he did it.

I'm sure somebody will chime in who is better at condensing the story and details down, that can give a fuller version of what happened than I can.

He has to do what’s best for him. Always know that your employer don’t give a shit about you. They will replace you the second you leave no matter the circumstances.

You think he should have passed on the opportunity to go to Star to help ClubMx out?

Yeah I was kind of surprised to see he left Club. He was definitely well liked there by staff and riders and I figured he’d stick around. Cant say I blame him for taking the opportunity. Hes gonna have to do outdoors now though

Ahh guess I should’ve read the details of the contract. A bit unusual for that kind of deal in the 250 class, especially for a factory team (or at least the team running the factory program)

Any idea if it was Lopes who negotiated that or Star? I know Lopes isn’t really a fan of outdoors

Ahh well when it doesn't work out with Star, Club won't sign him up again.

Right. I believe he's 24-25? On one hand, shoot your shot with Star because hey its STAR. On the other hand, like you said, you just burned a bridge and do you really have the talent to burn bridges? Probably not

Will club still be a 250 effort or will they ride 450's in 2024.

It's a bummer but Haas(owner/manager??) should be super proud. I'm pretty sure he started the team to help out guys who went to club who had the talent but couldn't find a ride. Seems like he accomplished what his original intentions were no matter how bittersweet it is.

I would assume it's Enzo who wanted a SX-only deal.

Right, can’t imagine Club is going to open a spot for him if this doesn’t work out. But stranger things have happened…

C'mon, Star or Club for a 250 guy?

No brainer......congrats to Enzo. Hope he kills it.

Not only will the bike be better but to have a full training camp alongside Tomac, Webb, Deegan, & Smith will be the biggest game changer for him going into next season.

The little things he’ll pick up from observing them day in and day out will make him so much faster.

Definitely expecting his first W in 2024.

I think this is spot on. Riding with faster guys will allow Lopes to gain a bit more speed. Will be an interesting year to watch him.

My word is my word! When I say i will do something i do! You can count on me!....

Ummmmm, hold on,... my agent Don King( That Aussie who thinks he looks cool in a Dodger cap) has been reading my Clubmx contract and it says i can welch on my word if Star wants me.

*SIGH*

Enzo took off half of May, June, July, August, September and half of October then decides to ride for Star?

Oh well. Best of luck Enzo...you thought it was fun living in Phils shadow, ...wait till you get to hang with that Youtube kid.

Lots of speculation here but there’s been more than a few guys signed that have had a shot at the factory gig and were released from their contracts. Since we’re speculating, my guess is he made this move with Haas being disappointed but ok with it. May never get this shot again and everyone knows it.

So he fulfilled the terms of his contract that Club agreed to when they signed him but he is a Dbag for signing with Star. There is a reason they are called vitards.

Big fan of what Club do and how they do it and also the folks involved.

Enzo did great last year, I'm sure that was a good result for both him and the team. If an offer from a factory team materialises, how can you expect a professional athlete, in a sport with such a small window to succeed and such a high chance of injury or bad luck, not to take that shot?

Hopefully someone else needing a break and some solid equipment and support can try and put themselves on the map on that Club bike now?

Can't wait to see what Lopez can do with the Star Yamaha.

Yeah no way club are going to be upset with him for taking this opportunity. If they are any sort of decent human beings they will be delighted for him.

Rumors are Club is not happy. This podcast with Enzo further explains the rumors (link below). He said he unfollowed Club on socials and that he “hopes he can go by their pit area again one day”. I can understand being upset your top rider is leaving for a better team but to not be happy for someone you supported is just odd too me. No offense to Club but they’re a team that should be a stepping stone for riders to showcase their skills in an effort to get a factory ride but they’re not on the same level as a factory team. Hope this doesn’t tarnish their relationship with Yamaha :/

I would like to hear Club's side of the story.

Club had a legit chance at a WSX Podium with Lopes.

It was a supercross-only deal at Star – the Enzo seat was pitched as indoors only to another rider as well.
