Just like back in the day with the Grand National Championship. It’s about time they joined both series to crown 2 champions. Haiden Deegan is the best 250 rider of 2023 and Jett Lawrence is the best 450 rider of 2023. I can’t wait to see next year both of them defend their titles.
im confused..? Deegan won 1 out of 3 titles and now labeled best 250 rider for the year?
World Championship Series!!!!!!!
Sounds like bait. Or, you're really chortling someone's balls.
Money is good and it's nice to see more racing. That's about it. Beyond that, SMX is the "World Supercross" title (the old one with 2 Canada rounds) of today.

False
Nobody thinks Haiden is best 250 rider of 2023. And if Hunter thought SMX was the premier title he would have gutted it out and rode the final.
I guess with the east and west SX divisions this maybe holds bragging rights of beating all of the riders combined? I’m still not sure what to think of the prestige. Is it like winning Paris Supercross because they pay for all the best riders to be there? Either way all of the top 250 competition was at these races, and Haiden came out on top.
Time to get rid of the east/west 250 classes and just races the entire series.
Are you kidding? He couldn't even walk. That doesn't mean HD is the best 250 rider. But he is one of the best right now. And if the other riders can't stay healthy, that's on them.
No it isn't. The double and triple points format kills it.
I’m going to confirm what we all already know. The most important #1 plate given out was the LCQ #1 plate to Phil.
Its just not in their contracts yet. If this thing continues with the success like this year, they’ll start adding SMX into their contracts.
No way, it makes it better it gives more riders a chance, just like Jordan Smith last night had a chance from 5th in the standings. But they do need to add points to each Moto going forward.
IF they are going to join the 2 series. The points should not be cumulative. You should earn your points in either SX or MX. And it should be first, top 10 riders from each series. Of course you'll have overlap so you won't get 20 riders doing that, then you start doing top 15 (or however far down the list you have to go) riders from each series until you fill the gate. You're not truly joining the 2 series if you penalize people for not running one of the series.

That’s a good idea
Yeah, no.
so if Jordan Smith won, he is the best 250 rider of 2023?
$500k / $1M = premier
Pit Row
That’s what the guys have been getting for 250 and 450 title bonuses for years now.
Let’s recognize SMX for what it was: the best thing to happen to SX and MX in years. The playoff formula worked. The tracks were interesting. Nothing predictable happened (Jett Or Hunter runaway). Racing came down to the last Moto. What was conceived as a counter to WSX IMO was a runaway hit as WSX hit the pause button. #winning
No, I don’t think it should also be eligible for a single digit number for a three race series. It’s already too crowded if Chase and the Lawrence bros take single digits.
Should SMX be the ONLY place single digits are available? Maybe in the future but not now.
Hunter's a tough dude, but if you watched his interview with Will last night, he wasn't gutting anything out. That poor bastard was in some serious pain.
Michael, do you know if Jett and Deegan also got bonuses from the teams for winning SMX?
A world championship title is more prestigious than a regional or national title. It says it in the name!
Deegan and Lawrence are the best in the world! Chase and Hunter are only the best in the States.
So now it’s $1M and $2M..
But that is the entire point. With no offense to Jordan Smith, he came damn close to winning it all last night, and to be honest his year was mediocre at best. If he doesn’t get taken out early in the race he quite possibly have won the title, I certainly would not say he was the best 250 rider of 2023. Obviously you are happy for Deegan, and the kid has been impressive and consistent, but he won one of 6 races total. Calling him the best 250 rider of the year is a stretch.
Sounds like that’s the rub. Mfgs weren’t paying out huge bonuses to do the 3 bonus rounds, so the promoter had to step in and sign the check just to get anyone to show up.
As far as I know, no. That's why the purse and Championship funds had to be so big, the teams weren't going to cover it.
It is the premier off season race after MXdN.
The inaugural 450 SMX champ did not contest one single 450 SX race. Think about that.
If its meant to be a combined championship, that should not be possible.
It's not.
It's a dash for cash mini series in the end of the season.
Post a reply to: Like it or not SMX is now the premier title.
