Great to see 10th-20th place riders finally make some decent money

Interesting this only happened when WSX "poked the bear"

Congrats to all and glad to see some of the best riders in the world take home decent paychecks

Wonder if this will carry on if WSX dies

I think it will continue not matter what happens to WSX, but they need to drop at least two rounds of SX imo. That would benefit everyone, except maybe Feld’s pockets.

I had read somewhere they were dropping an SX round to make it 30 but it seems they didn’t.

The money came from NBC because MX Sports and Feld came together selling the whole season as a package with the creation of the ill worded playoffs by the request of NBC. It was literally new money this year because of that NBC TV deal. It’s a 5 year contract so this will continue for at least another 4 years. How many times do people have to be told this?

What happens if wsx folds?

Who knows, but it's great to see it. That was a massive payout for guys to end the season. I know the programs have been fluffed up, and are pretty long but it was great to have live coverage every week, without having to subscribe to multiple outlets. Aside from the complaints of announcing, poor choices in replays, and rider coverage, I think the production as a whole was pretty damn professional. I think this SMX deal has taken a big step in the right direction.

See 731Chopper's post above.

Regardless of what happens to WSX the SMX playoffs are secured for at least another 4 years.

Some of you should listen to Weege's podcast and understand WSX would not exist without Mx Sports and Feld working together.  The story and narrative is very much backwards.

I have no idea how the deal came together.  I have to believe WSX was a factor.

Bottom line...more riders finally got a decent paycheck.  That's a good thing... right?Tongue

While that may or may not be true, Weege has proven he cannot be trusted as an unbiased source when it comes to anything related to mxsports. I don't blame him, but I don't believe him either.

To the topic, it's awesome NBC kicked in more money for the new deal. There is no question feld/mxsports had more money available for the riders the whole time, but they are in the business of making money! Let just be glad they kicked in more money to the riders off the big new deal instead of pocketing that too.

What has he proven to be biased about?  Listen to the podcast and he is telling the story that you can validate and remember if you were watching in 2020

Remember mavtv?

We don't need a list of examples. He protects his interests and that's fine. He does provide good content that I enjoy but his word is not the gospel when it comes to his employer.

I do and he talks about that as well.  They all owned that and said they were assured it would work and it was a disaster.  MavTV existed because Peacock had one year left with SX and they were building a multi year deal to partner with both series, so MX Sports had to find an alternative and their choice clearly sucked.  Not sure how that makes Weege dishonest.

How many times? At least one more - This is the first time I have heard this. Before hearing this I was speculating Monster Energy put up the money since their revenue is multi-billion dollars annually.

The money has always been there BUT...the big boys WILL always get paid first.  This may be the first time there was enough money in the pot to satisfy the wolves and still give the dogs a bone.

If there's a down side to this SMX dealio...I'm not seeing it.

Why this might be the case, I'd prefer to hear about it from someone who was not a paid employee of both the organizations involved.

Weege and JT's shilling for SMX was demeaning for all involved.

He has become noticeably a company man since he started sucking on SMX's teat.  You cannot be a journalist and a paid employee of those you are supposed to reporting on at the same time. Not that Weege ever was a journalist in any real sense. As with all the 'journalists' in moto, they are simply paid enthusiasts, ex-racers and/or brodowners (or blowdowners).

Not to be overly rude...but fuck you guys.  There is no way for anyone to please everyone.  Sometimes, you gotta "please yourself".  Wedge is cool as fuck.

Not sure why you got downvoted, because the talk at the start was definitely about dropping one MX race this year and one SX race next year. That hasn’t ended up happening though.

You are correct, they dropped the FIM when they decided to work together....but the tin foilers won't believe that...
