Anyone have the service manual ?? Flashing orange light - using the app i see Code 8 but owners manual doesn't mention what this is. Once u have a code does it change the fuel and timing (ie, some weird limp mode) isn't flashing now but was curious if i have to clear the code ??

There's a QR code bar on the front of your manual that you should have that will bring you to the complete shop manual like old school yamaha manuals were.

There is no QR code on the front of my manual that i can see. Is it like front page ? Might be some weird Canadian owners manual.  If anyone has it - can u drop box it :-)

Edit - found this site has it https://library.ymcapps.net/library/om/contents/html/10/BHR-2819U-10_02…

Diagnostic code 8 / which is fault code 30 (The vehicle has over turned) .... it starts so something odd going on.

Finally have my brand new 2023 all set up & ready to ride! (Wife had some medical issues that took me away from moto for a bit!) and I had two specific questions on setup… Before I ride it, I wanted to address the following?
1. The issue with water intrusion? I just wondered what everyone is doing to prevent the issue? Sealing up with dielectric grease &/or electric tape? (How & where please?)

2. I have swapped to 14/52 gearing & wanted to make sure the chain slack setup doesn’t need to be any different than what the manual recommends?

I appreciate all the insight in this thread and apologize IF these two questions have already been addressed and I just missed them reading through! 😎 👍❗️

on my 23, when I mounted my IMS tank, they gave me a new bracket to mount the ecu. The bike would start but quit after about 10 seconds. I finally figured it out. It was the ecu mount. it was sideways, so the ecu thought it was upside down. So it would trip the sensor and kill the engine. I remounted it like it was stock and problem solved

Sounds like the roll over sensor is acting up? Not sure on how it is on the 23 but the older gen that sensor was built into the ECU.

ECU needs to be right way or you get that. When I got that code I just put bike on side for while and then back up and code was gone next start up.

Mine starts and hasn't shutdown.......i get the diagnostic code 8 and the orange light flashes....but bike runs.

Edit: I can replicate the problem now - when i spray water on the wire coming out of the gear selector sensor i get the code. Not to see why :-)

I have 2 rides on my torque pack. They are the only ones I run. I had 3 kits in my 19 kx450

I’ve heard suspension needs revalved with the longer swing-arm… what was your experience?

I found it, the push button latch thread. Not sure what the dude was talking about cutting slits in aluminum and crushing something with pliers. I ordered the button I guess it can't be too hard. My cover flew off in practice, the plastic safety strap broke. I was lucky a friend saw it and picked it up I didn't know it was gone. The push button sucks, and will fail allowing your cover to come off again. Here is a link to the Dzus fastener eliminater.

I ordered the push button after reading the post about it the other day and I just got it yesterday. No chance I’m putting that garbage on my bike. It looks cool and would be a sweet addition to a garage queen, but if you plan to ride your dirtbike at all, that turd will for sure fail.

It looks good, I almost did it before my buddies fell off first ride. I just don't think it can hold up to riding honestly.

Yes, and I love it. It is on or off, so if you don't like that you wont like it.

Thanks man! A bolts sounds awesome! Hey sorry for my confusion but it doesn't list a kit for a 2023 YZ 450f just the 450FX and there are 3 bolts. Do I just get the kit and use one bolt?

I ended up running a larger Brembo master. Slightly shorter/harder pull and even more of an on-off feel but I don’t mind it. I didn’t look into it, but there may be a smaller option for the master as well.

Yes sir, all you will use is the square speed nut and the bolt. The other stuff is for the FX model. Remove the speed nut from your 23’ and pop on the new one. Remove the dzus screw from the gas cap cover and boom, you’re done.

Are you sure it has a smaller diameter piston? A smaller piston size means more pressure and a lighter clutch pull

Yep you’re correct, I meant larger.

My pops just picked up a 24. Put a 4.1 slip on and is running T4(Likes running a cleaner fuel compared to pump gas). Seems to be running a tad lean and wants to clean it up a bit. Anyone have a good map for this or know where I can find some? Other than Keefers stuff, I haven't found much for mapping on these.

Thanks! The bolt setup sounds awesome. I have a Twin Air Power Flow kit ordered and Craig Decker has my suspension as of today. 21 or 22 hours on my bike, I hope the motor holds because I am broke. I figured I would do the piston and cam chain at around 40 hours or over the winter. I sure would like to go to 90 hours though. This thread has been awesome thanks to everyone who has shared info.

Youre silly.

You can find rare and abnormal catastrophic failure from any brand on any 450. The bike (when i had it) was incredible.

They need anti theft built into these bikes these days tho.

My bike is amazing, I feel blessed to get to ride something this amazing before I got too old. I am not sure why I am replying to your lame reply but the manual says 12 hours on the piston. The reason behind that has been discussed in detail in this thread. I came up with 40 hours because I don't ride as much in the cold winter and i will be close to 40 hours by then. I would feel comfortable going to 90 hours but a piston and cam chain are pretty cheap and I would like to take a look in there and winter time is a great time to do it. Back on topic man I am excited to ride this thing with ENZO suspension, so far it's been a great experience and my stuff will be back to me tomorrow. A 6 day turn around including shipping days! I'm 215 in street clothes, I had a 6.3 rear spring I had already upgraded too he said that was fine. The stock front spring was too soft, he changed that and also changed the inner fork springs. He added the spring tubes and re-valve of course. I am not sure what rate front spring rate he went too but maybe it will be in the paperwork or I will ask him. I hope to ride it this weekend.
