I don’t think Kawi will work with DeCoster given that he is a KTM guy and in their eyes KTM screwed them out of a SX title in 2017

Okay, is this the settled reason among the 'tards - that Kawasaki refuses to participate in the MXON because they think DeCoster screwed them out of the 2017 SX title when Marv 'let' Dungey 'bye'?

If this is the case: 1. It's very immature - what a bunch of babies. 2. Take responsibility for your rider's performance - Tomac screwed himself out of a title by his weirdo crashes and slow restarts - notably Rutherford NJ SX.  3. I realise Kawasaki USA is its own entity, but presumably Kawasaki Japan has sway over it?  If so, I also presume Japan also sees MXON as a positive marketing platform and should direct Kawi USA to pull its head in and stop being a bunch of whingers.

1. It has fuck all to do with a SX title in 2017.

2. There are a lot of dependencies from the Kawasaki MXGP team for the US to send riders overseas to race a one off race like this.  Currently, the MX1 team are on the 24 KX450. The US riders are on the 23.  There isn't enough time to get Jason and/or AC prepared, that's the #1 reason why there isn't a Kawasaki MX1 or MX3 rider going.

3. On the 250 or MX2 side, again there are dependencies required from a non-existent GP team.  As I said in a prior post about the des Nations, it would cost a minimum of $50k to send 1 PC rider.  Plus, making sure that there is enough personnel to go during what is considered "off time" where they take vacations, weddings, etc that they put off during the season.

Remember, the des Nations is not a contracted event for the US teams and riders.  This is a business and a race overseas really doesn't benefit the US teams.

If everyone wants a PC Kawasaki on the line at the des Nations, I will start a T-shirt campaign effective immediately and I will get Mitch to send one of his guys(preferably mine) .  We need $50k.  Who's donating?

So you’ll be ok if a bunch of overseas countries decline to send a team to the US in 2025 because there’s no benefit to any foreign team racing in the US?

Also, the $50K cost is what the riders/teams choose it to be.  Could easily go for $10K per rider.

Why do I have to look at global issues? I don't care if it's beneficial to the euro teams.  That is an FIM event, not an AMA one. It's beneficial to those teams to keep Luongo happy.  The AMA teams don't have to.

Again, a spare 2024. Jason nor AC is going to race that thing without testing.  KMC wouldn't allow it either.

You guys are missing the point entirely.  Everyone wants to point to a specific OEM.  It's not a particular OEM at all.  It's a money and time thing, bottom line.

Funny thing, no one bitched when the current MXGP World Champ didn't show up to Red Bud last year.

Back to the most important question....how much can I put you down for to send a Kawi guy??

If you're comparing Slovenia with the USA's depth of talent, you know you're grasping at straws...

This year, the 3rd Slovenian rider is 16yrs old, last year he was 15 and unable to race, thus, no team. But carry on with all your excuses, while Team Chile are on the start gate

AMA is affiliated with the FIM, just like every other national body around the world.  It therefore has the same freedoms of choice and obligations as everyone else.

The main gripe isn’t about whether a particular rider participates; it’s about whether the US sends a team at all.

What's in it for Kawasaki to send a rider to the MXDN?  What's in it for any of the teams?  There doesn't seem to be any juice from the squeeze.

Stop being emotional about it.  It's business. And yes, if the MXGP teams decided to boycott in 2025 bc the US didn't send a team this year, I would be ok with it.  It would suck but it is what it is and I understand.

$10k wouldn't even cover the costs to ship the bikes.  I was given the figure of $27k just to ship 3 bikes and equipment back in 2015 the last time they went to Ernee.

Sure.  But at the end of the day, it's a business decision for them.  I don't like it either but I understand it.

That's exactly the problem. You should look at the global issues, not just the local ones. Do you think it's beneficial for European teams to go across the Atlantic to compete in a one-off race? And yet, as I stated, they were there. Last year Coldenhoff, Renaux, Seewer and Geerts for example raced on a Star Yamaha at RedBud instead of their usual bikes at the GP's. I don't see why this couldn't work out vice versa, for, let's say, Anderson. Evans isn't selected, so there's a spare factory Kawasaki waiting in the shed.

If the US motocross industry collectively doesn’t give two shits about the MXoN just be frank and say so.  Don’t make excuses like it’s too expensive, or there’s no return on investment.

Does it suck that we aren't sending a team?  Yes.  Racing in the US and the GP's will continue on. And even better for the GP loyalists, they can claim the US was scared to send a team. HAHAHA

I get it people are pissed. Trust me, I'm not happy about it.

You seemed certain a couple of months ago that there was plenty of money around to send a team.

Are you ?,you seemed concerned about the usa $$ alot.  All of a sudden you are a expert on here after vanishing until getting on the lawrence bandwagon.  There is plenty $$ to spend if they choose to spend it , why do you care, not your choice or $$.  Are you even going to the mxon? How much did you donate ?

When was the last time the AMA did anything for you? I have never seen them pay any insurance policy for an injury or anything else, just another sanctioning body like FIM. I hear these podcaster dudes just playing the blame game instead of solving a problem - if they would start reaching out to us common people and start a legit funding source and a plan to get some riders to represent (which I think would be easy to find 3 guys) we could be proud of a team and get this done! Team manager? hell any Dad or Mom that raised a racer could do that!

Funny thing, no one bitched when the current MXGP World Champ didn't show up to Red Bud last year.

Back to the most important question....how much can I put you down for to send a Kawi guy??

"It's a money and time thing, bottom line."

I call bullshit, it's not a money thing, US riders would be representing the AMA, it would take 1-2% of the AMA's cash to send a US team...

Why do I have to look at global issues? I don't care if it's beneficial to the euro teams.  That is an FIM event, not an AMA one. It's beneficial to those teams to keep Luongo happy.  The AMA teams don't have to.

Slovenia never sent a team to the US, or Brazil, or Australia... Do you really want to compare the resources of the AMA with the AMZS?

^^^ This ^^^

Not going to soothe any butt-hurt folks. I don't like it, either. But I completely understand it.

Has he?  I haven’t followed much for a few years.  If that’s the case then my opinion of him is slightly less than it otherwise would have been, for whatever that is worth.

Nonetheless we are discussing teams not sending riders, not riders choosing not to go.

And Vialle.

In reverse guys like Lars van Berkel, Tanel Leok, Harri Kullas, Jakub Terešák, Stephen Rubini, John Adamson, Charlie Putnam, Gert Krestinov, Adrien Malaval, Jörgen-Matthias Talviku, Mathias Jørgensen (a guy who still has a working job in Denmark), Ethan Lane and Joel Rizzi made the trip to the USA to race one or more National rounds. Be it with their regular teams from Europe or as a true privateer. Meanwhile Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Mexico, Chile, Puerto Rico and Latin America are sending teams.

But hey, what do they know?

"tRAvellIng To EUroPE iS eXpenSIVe". Well, duh.

It’s been awhile but I don’t remember this much uproar in 2004 when we failed to send the two winningest riders of all time.

Needs a new guy .

Looking on the bright side, it means that we wont have to trek to the US any time soon for the MXoN, if you dont come, you shouldnt host .

The fact that the MXGP season gets fucked about for 3 circus races, and then you still dont send a team... sums it all up

'World Champions of What'.     Indeed.

Lmao. Yes let’s pick a fight with the biggest motocross market in the world and NOT host an event in that country where we each time we’ve visited we’ve made a shit ton of money.

calm down.

Doesnt matter ,he turned it down.   Guess he isnt a very good countryman either. According to you, add wilson musquin ferrandis to the. List. . Maybe you should research before getting on the bandwagon

Dungey turned it down in 15,16. RC and Bubba turned it down. It happens.
