Or I just picked a random manufacturer and posted the results I found. Surely couldn't have just done that, right? Do you think I have any connection to Triumph? I'm just commenting on the internet.

Literally everyone saying "people are losing interest" post zero evidence other than they just think people feel the same way they do. I show an example of there being some level of interest and y'all go "way to cherry pick some data". I think I need to just disassociate from these threads at this point as they're all being taken over by conspiracy theorists. Triumph will succeed if their bike is actually good, not whether their social media roll out was the same as every other brand.

What type of evidence are you looking for?  I don't have hard data since I can't see the statistical data of Triumph's YouTube channel.  But as mentioned above, their latest video, while 2 weeks newer, doesn't have as many views as their first video, and it's unlikely that it's going to trend upwards of over 40K views in the following weeks.  Add to that, people have shown more interest in the Yamaha YZF250F, than in a brand new bike release.

If you step outside the vital world, you will see that on social media that a lot of people are unhappy with them dangling that carrot out there as just a tease. Comment sections are full of people saying they are frustrated and that this is a flop, or outright ridiculing them.  The blurry "spy" pics with people in the background with phones are obviously another poorly orchestrated attempt to garner interest.  Do you think that all these complaints are less representative of a majority voice of disapproval, and that this offers no evidence whatsoever of the idea that this is a marketing flop, and that people are disappointed?

I may have phrased that badly. Vet riders with money to blow on a new brand of bike are typically riding 450’s not 250’s.

In the UK, where the bike is supposedly from, that's the other way around I think. Old dudes all about 250s and 350s.

I appreciate the UK is a tiny market though, so basing things on the US would make way more sense.

Just saying.

Either way, there are some hilarious replies in this thread, many are intentional, some not so much, but still.

There biggest mistake is making a 250 before a 450 or even 350. 250’s are such a small part of the market. They would have an easier time marketing and selling a 450.

In our most recent Vital MX reader survey, more users voted they own a 250, larger percentage than 450. On next bike size to buy, more also voted for a 250 over a 450.

OEM contacts have told me this is reflected in their sales as they’re year-over-year getting closer to selling more smaller bore bikes than larger bore.

Please Triumph make a 350!

A 250 is not enough for hills and sand and a 450 just looses the fun factor.

The 350 is to the 450 the what the 250 two stroke was to the old 500 two strokes.

If they made a good 350... and a off road ver of it (6 speed...etc) they could make a big splash. KYB suspension etc. It would be a smart move!

That is some interesting data.

I wonder what the reasoning behind that is, considering that a 450 takes much less maintenance than a 250.

Is it the unlimited power of the 450 that keeps guys from buying them, or price, or ?

How did 350's fit in to the totals?

All my money would be on weight.

Nothing trumps the weight difference for me.

ML do you know what the total sales of 250 and 450 motocross bikes is in the US or globally?

500 two strokes needed less maintenance than a 250 and people stopped buying those when they became too powerful to be enjoyable for the average consumer. It's why arguing about capacity equivalence with four strokes is a dead end, because we had 500 two strokes and people stopped buying them.

I like my 500, but I can happily ride my 250 all day and have more fun.

Yes the roll out has been long and pretty vague but you all are still talking about the rollout and triumph. Seems like the marketing is working. As far as the talk about borrowing proven tech from KTM I think that’s great. You don’t try and enter a new market with completely new engineering, obviously none of us would put up with that learning curve. What were you expecting front wheeling drive, apple moto play? At least they didn’t tease us with a new bike in 2034. I can’t wait to see this bike too and hope it’s a competitive platform right out of the gate. British racing green plastics might be cool. And if it has the KTM air filter system I’m interested.

Makes sense. Bike are more powerful now than in the past. I’ve finally reached a VET age and I dont feel the need for a 450. I have a riding partner with 4 bikes in the garage. He rides the 250’s the most. Occasionally the 350 if he’s racing wide open terrain. And a KTM 500 that’s ridden once a year on a Colorado BDR trip. I’m content with my 250 2T. I know few people that ride or race 450’s anymore. Mostly 250’s and 350’s

Guys, I hear people are waiting for the promised Tesla stainless joke truck, 4 years on. Stark Varg, 2 years on, and still waiting.  Seem to be accepting it.  Like little kids, really!   Let Triumph do their thing, they've got it nailed.   Bring in a 350, instant winner.

If this is true, the Japanese HAVE to be looking at producing 350s, right??

I am not sure that many people ride a 250f or 450f enough to get into much difference in maintenance before they move on to the next bike. Other than more frequent top end changes (50 vs 100 hours maybe?) I don't think there is a difference in maintenance.

250s (and 450s) keep getting faster too so the gap between the max power most people will use and what a 250f makes is not much if any at this point. If tires and suspension are also improving then people can keep higher roll speeds which also reduces one of the advantages a 450 has over a 250.

It’s been a slow moving trend for years from our data. A little more every year lean 250 or something smaller than 450.

From our most recent readers survey, 36% of readers own a 250, 26.8% own a 450, and 7% own a 350.

For the next bike to buy, readers answered that 28.8% would buy a 250, 9.6% would buy a 350, and 24.4% would buy a 450. There are a bunch of other CC options in that field as well.

This thread delivers…

From people bringing up motocross legacy brands & new model releases (the latest Yamaha YZs)….& then comparing that to Triumph’s on going segment launch…this stuff is funny.

Anyone care to research how many follower Yamaha has in an EXISTING SEGMENT?
(again…LEGACY BRAND)

Like I said…this thread delivers…28 minutes and waiting Laughing
