Man, is anyone else getting a weird vibe from Matthes’ shows recently. Kinda getting a “I’m over it vibe.” The whole deal with the privateer manager idea, seemed like a joke. However, there was a point where it seemed he might be speaking the truth when talking about needing to get away from journalism. Then the Ironman review show he seemed bitter. Just curious if someone got on his ass, or he is just over it, or tired of the comments. Anyhow, maybe not, I did miss-read the dosage on some eddie’s I ate earlier, so might be doing the “way over analyzing thing.”

I’m sure he has good days and he has bad days, just like many of us with our job.
Haven't listened yet, but could just be end of season burnout? I know I feel that way and all I have to do is sit on the couch and watch races.
I think you're doing the “way over analyzing thing.” Steve has said he's getting out of journalism and the sport every year for years now; it's just a joke. Don't gotta love him or even listen to him but seeing a thread started after each podcast he creates recently is getting a bit dramatic.
Man, I seem to have really stepped out of my bounds here. Perhaps you can point me in the direction of the proper form to discuss the sport and industry. Better yet I will just ensure that I submit all future topics and comments to you prior to posting for approval. Last, I appreciate your guidance and willingness to assist the vital community in becoming a stronger, more intelligent community.

Jet lag….
Did I once say you shouldn't have posted this? I was quoting you when you said "I did miss-read the dosage on some eddie’s I ate earlier, so might be doing the “way over analyzing thing.”
I'll be sure to double check the rule book on what I can or can't comment on in the future I guess. Sorry I engaged in your discussion.
I would assume it was hard to get into it for a race you didnt attend and championship wrapped up after race 1 of 4. Not much left to say about how great Jetts undefeated season went or the what ifs for the 250 class.
Speaking of Jett lag, is he still on the no fly list with the Lawrence brothers? I remember Steve mentioning something about them not interviewing with him.
Jesus, I was giving you a compliment and acknowledging the need for your approval. That in itself is a huge compliment considering the responsibility assumed by a post approver. At no time did I state or insinuate that your post was in violation of any rules. In fact, I clearly thanked you for your kindness and your personal quest to better the Vital experience.
Best,
“I might be over analyzing this”
”yeah, I think you might be”
“Wow! What are you, the forum police? Sorry I didn’t seek your approval before posting this thread!”
Bro, you gave us option A and option B. I said it might be option B and you are having a mental breakdown. Maybe eat less “eddie’s” next time if you aren’t capable of somebody picking option B.
mid life crisis. no judgment. prob needs to take a year off while the Jett train is making things boring(ish) anyways and go ride his e-bike in squamish. maybe his chick wants to swing and he doesn't or something. who knows. he's been grinding for a minute. i wish i had his enthusiasm and ability to talk that much.
STFU
They were in the pulp show tonight
I always enjoy the review shows. There was plenty of good info in the Ironman one. Always a good listen IMO
Sensitive much?
There was about a 15 min period in the first bit of the episode where I thought JT fell asleep. But for all these guys what's there to talk about when Jett wins every race, and theres like 5-6 factory riders and they aren't even all healthy.
Im here for the banter and funny stories between the 3 of them anyways, I dont need to hear about lap times or how some guy who finished barely in the points did.
They called into Pulp last night
I like Matthes stuff, but as I’ve said before the older shows were way better. This reminds me of an old Lagwagon song, Know it all.
“For the underground
'Til the alternative becomes
The popular sound
The bands are good
'Til they make enough cash
To eat food and get a pad
Then they're sold out
And their music is cliché
Because talent's exclusive
To bands without pay”

Just wrapped up the Ironman review show. Steve sounds a little tired from the travel but nothing out of the ordinary. The "this is why we in the media get things wrong" rant really hit home for me. I experience this on a near-weekly basis where I'll ask a question, and get an answer from a rider or team. Then Steve or someone else asks a week later and gets a totally different answer. Makes it very hard to relay reliable info when the answers change so much ha.
I'm an every week listener and thought it was fine?
He's mentioned a hurt elbow that kept him from riding the v-mxdn and probably kept him off the mountain bike too. Having a nagging injury that keeps you from the few things uou actually like doing will put you in a bad mood. He does seem to be in midlife crisis mode though, happens to the best of us.
Man when Steve calls it quits it’ll be a massive loss for the sport. Nothing better
If I win the lotto I’ll do him a favor and buy pulp then shut it down!
Agree. The amount of content he puts out that is high quality, no bullshit, that is actually entertaining is uncontested, bar none. There isn't a single source of moto media that even holds a candle to the amount of shit steve puts out, not to mention the off shoots he has done and the other pods that are apart of the network (Reraceables, keefer inc testing, etc).
