In order to be homologated they need to have 400 units in dealerships by a certain date.
I think it's 200 by March and the other 200 by June or July.
Rule 1.1 of the rule book is the homologation rule
Me too, despite looking at the older engine frequently in my own old banger 350, I naturally went to the new KTM engine for comparison 😂
I'm not gonna be upset about it and until we see deeper data and details I'm still hopeful.
The Euro MX2 KTMs went well with the old motor.
Of course Triumph can't sell consumer bikes with factory engines or requiring race gas, but it's not a stretch to think they could add to the performance.
Look what Twisted and similar can do with an ECU that lets them alter map files comprehensively, and then add in some porting or machining and choice changes to piston or cam spec or internal gearing... It can absolutely still be a solid package.
But still, nothing ground breaking yet besides maybe the shock tower portion of the frame, but revision of what works is often better than a full redesign.
Also something to think about is that Bobby and Scuba will be VERY familiar with that engine if it is simply the old gen KTM engine...

First interview with the Triumph Factory Team at A1:
Hey Bobby, tell us about your team and the new bike!
Bobby: Well, Scuba, myself and a bunch of retired moto guys were given a few bucks to built up the Triumph Factory Team. Budget was tight and most of it went into marketing, but we managed to find a work shop in England with a pretty good welder that does our frames and we found some replica KTM engines from Asia that are pretty fast. So bikes should be good!
Sorry, couldn’t resist..
So many paste eaters in here knocking a bike they probably couldn't even afford. Personally im delighted someone new is trying to enter our sport. Hope they knock it out the park.
Dude, you sure gave Goldmember and others a ton of crap for pissing on the Stark in the other thread, yet here you are being a douche in the Triumph thread over and over. Goldmember hack your account?
I think there’s a slight difference in me mocking the fact that a renowned company announces a new and innovative mx bike and then presenting a bike with a KTM replica engine from Asia and others spinning conspiracy theories in the Stark threads. But okay, I’m going to dial it down a notch.
And BTW: Goldmember is RobertCoates350 now
Can you list the changes?
Cod pieces? like throwing battered fish at someone in an Irish pub or just what kind of cod pieces are we talking about?
No but I'm sure you could research it and find out. I don't know off the top of my head.
Can anyone confirm the Triumph 250 bore diameter is 81 mm?
Can confirm your a tool.
Wonder if they bought Blake Baggett’s old place, El Chupacabra Ranch, down in Florida? The dirt and scenery look familiar and there’s a ton of infrastructure already built for a moto facility someone with big bucks could take advantage of.
No. They bought Matt Walker's place.
Edit: Matt leases the land to Triumph.
RC : *15 Time SMX Champion*
I'm not, and never ever would dispute RCs genius, and records, but I fear the subsuming of Championships for the sake of marketing.
This year will be the 1st SMX Championship(s).
