Imagine how impressive that would have been for his tarnished image.

Just like when Hunter pushed his bike back at Southwick? Oh wait.

How does he get free passes?  Half the people seem to despise him; that's hardly a pass.   It's not great look and I imagine someone has said something to him, but of all the things to crucify a rider for not reacting well in the moment a bike fails in a title chase is not the time to get out the cross and nails.

I'm not a big fan of the Deegan camp one way or the other, but this is a nothing burger that people are trying to backfill into their existing for or against stories so they can fight about stuff on this board.

Lol...of course.  And I thought they acted like little babies as well.  At least Deegan IS young enough to get a little slack.  But he needs to be told..."You may have gotten away with that BS as an amateur...now you are earning a man's salary and representing your employer.

Any one of you guys try that shit at work and see what happens.  If you own the company and act that way...I wouldn't work for you.

I never said "I hate him".  I admire skill and maturity.  He's half way thereWink

Would have been cooler if he kicked the bike and walked back to the pits. He took it to far with the helmet slam

So, is Deegan derangement syndrome a thing now? I'm kind of thinking so.

Kicking a bike is like kicking a horse....it just ain't done.  Sorry, I can't/won't condone bad behavior.

If he had pushed the bike off the track, taken off his helmet, and laid in the grass...I'd be giving him crazy props because I know how much he wanted it.  Well...you know what we saw.  He'll get it or he won't.

Yes Deegan carried on like a pork chop...Hunter dropped his bike on the ground and carried on like a fool with Styles.

Even good old "awe shucks" Jetson at the end of Southwick moto 2 went off at one of the Honda crew for not "taking the fucking lid off" his water bottle.

I'm not sure you can get to this level in life and not have just a little bit of prima donna in you.

I had to think about it.  I reckon you're right but the past greats seemed to know that behavior wasn't for public consumption.  We ALL know how to show our ass.  I just don't understand folks admiring childish behavior.

I'd be saying the same thing if ANY rider acted similarly.  I'll say it again...I think Deegan has REAL chops but if he wants full respect...time to man up.

Ya not a great look. Reminded me of tomac at Loretta’s during the Covid outdoors. At least deegan picked the bike back up. A lot of emotion for a 17 year old to see his championship hopes just disappear. I get it.

Brother...I get it.  17 years old and a shit ton of expectations and pressure.  BUT...he obviously wasn't taught or doesn't get the fact that he's in the bigs now.  Perceptions matter.

lol has to be. I've watched this clip so many times trying to figure out how anyone could have any reaction to this at all and there's just nothing there.... he even stopped himself from full on helmet slam. it's either DDS or these guys have never done anything in their life remotely intense or competitive.

This world is filled with people who seem to internally feel bad about their moral ambiguousness in their daily lives, so they point fingers at people they don't know and shout to the world how much better they are than them. That's what I took away from this thread.

Haiden just saw his title hopes crash and burn in an instant. He obviously has put a lot of work in and felt like he could keep things close with Hunter and compete to the last round, and that all died in that moment. Yeah I know, Hunter suffered a mechanical as well, but that's neither here nor there. In that moment, Deegan went from a handful of points down with 5 motos to go, to 30+ points down and dropping below two other guys in points. He got mad and acted out a little. Let's not act like he's some new-generation punk... 90% of teenagers/young men from ANY generation would've acted out in this moment. Sure, Deegan doesn't have the class of a Ryan Dungey or David Bailey, but that's okay. Like others have said, a lot of the legends that everybody on Vital speaks of as if they were gods were just as, if not more, rambunctious than the likes of Haiden Deegan or, frankly, any of the current pro racers.

Everytime I see this sort of thing I remember how many of these guys never had to buy a motorcycle, or helmet, or even tear offs. Someone else has footed the bill their entire life.

No I get it, I was just being a wise ass. Flame away but I chalk it up to immaturity and being competitive. Hopefully he learns from it

How is he getting a free pass being the subject of a thread on VitalMX entitled "Not a great look"? He's literally being called out in the thread title before anyone has even typed a word. lol

Exactly.  Everything we do as kids is a learning experience...if there are consequences.  I do consider him a kid.

I'm gonna forget all about it if he DOES learn from it.  If he's still doing it at 25...then I really don't care if he wins every race between now and then...I'll consider him a douche.

He turns 18 on January 10. For anyone using the term “A grown adult hating on a kid” after that it will be mandatory for them to give themselves an uppercut for each time they use it.

I'll also state that he definitely should be on the MXdN team.  His results pretty much demand it.  BUT,. if shit goes sideways...don't be throwing any tantrums.  We have a rep and being childish ain't part of it.Cool

Please, that is a reaction anyone would have after watching the national title dissolve. I do not believe Deegan was going to win the title, but he had a better chance than anybody else in the class up to that point. Overreaction, maybe. Understandable…definitely !

Anybody thinking less than your post need to check a shrimp .. or his bank account manager .... (yup, 7 digits the season, so 8 digits overall, a national title becomes big quickly over a few seasons)

At 17 I would have taken a spray, coupled with my lighters, and brought fireworks to the party (kidding, but even to a bike I would have called my Ms. I would have disassembled it in 1 hour). Even being happy. Anybody putting 200% of his life into something would do 10 times worse with no camera. Let us stop being stupid, work 10 years for somethings, 80 hours a week, then when you can get it and something happen ; what do you do, really, 100% honest ? Go to the church to light a candle ? Start a war ? What do you really do ?

So the kid is a human (and in my book 200% perfect from what we see at his age), not an animal as he didn't full eat a team mate yet, and honestly it is good news for the competition, that means there may be not a second Jett's wave with a 22-0.

That consequence and resulting better behavior are EXACTLY what I'm hoping for.  I like this kid.  I want him to be an admired champion.

I do realize that what "I" want ain't got anything to with how he handles his career and life.  It's gonna be what it's gonna be.

I'm willing to bet that this isn't even registering with Hunter. He has bigger priorities than what's going on behind him.
