Performance drugs disgust me...in the sports arena.  The entire point of a competition is to determine the best athlete on the day.

There is already a huge gulf between wealthier factory riders and the medical treatments available to the privateers.

They ALL get injured.  Stuff that speeds recovery shouldn't be allowed unless Doc Bodnar gives it to all of them.

Cheating is cheating...it's not the quality of a true competitor.  If you think otherwise...then you don't want to see the best racer...just the best cheater.

In the amateurs, it shouldn’t be done.

It’s worse. I know 5 very prestigious amateurs who took them so they could get stronger for the big bikes. Mini riders started taking them in the mid 80s.

Current prestigious amateurs?

So a stock class and a modified class?

When he went to the Star truck to do his weekly interview with Ferrandis, I can't help but wonder if Lebig sat for a nice chat with the Deegans too?

This was at Washougal, if he’s not on something, I want to know his secret or just good genetics?

Did LeBig accuse them? Cause as far as I'm aware it was Yannig and LeBig refuted him?

Have the pitchforks decided a plea yet? I wouldn’t be surprised if 50% of the field were getting a weekly red blood cell count oxygen boost. Then again, unless they can prove it with evidence….. it doesn’t even matter. Boys will be boys

I've known Brian, and his older brother since I was 11.  Both boys have always been lean, with a strong athletic drive.  Excess body fat on those two didn't stand a chance  all through our childhood/teenage years.  Their Dad was never a large man either......  Again, good genetics.

Deegan sure had some solid lines outside of the track markers. Also the first corner why bunch up when you can go off the track and pin it.

Been that way at Unadilla ever since they took out the huge banners there that prevented that from happening. Time to bring them back.

It's unfair to single out just Deegan, but at the same time I think its a little naïve to think that doping is not happening in our sport.

With the history and connections a lot of riders have to trainers/people with professional cycling backgrounds, I think it's pretty likely some big names have dabbled in stuff over the years, or if not then they probably got the option too.

Yes bike skill, set up and mental strength is huge, but so is the fitness side of it

I'd 100% rather be be proven wrong though. Lets get some test results.

Mx is tough, but it’s a long way off some other sports.

For example Racing 70.3 / 140.6 Ironman it’s very clear how peds would be huge advantage, 2 x 30 min Moto’s with an hour rest should be plenty doable for pro rider with all the backing.

Yeah, it's like why would someone use PEd's if you only need to sprint 100 meters.  Makes no sense.  Yes, I'm being sarcastic.

For those of you who don't know, LeBigUSA.com is a french speaking paying website run by moto reporter Stephan Legrand, a frenchman who lives in Vegas. Each week, Yannig Kervella, french ex-racer and trainer with a reputation of "telling it like it is", former coach to Shimoda, has a one hour last race debriefing podcast, talking with Legrand.

I was kinda shocked at what I heard today, since he starts with a looooong rant "asking questions" about Haiden Deegan. Here are a few highlights I translated.

“How can a 17 year old have his 13th race lap in the 2nd moto faster than his best morning lap and 3 seconds faster than anyone. Nobody understands how he can do that. How is it possible?”

“I hope he’s not taking “orange juice”.”

“The Deegan family has always been cheating, cutting tracks, oversize bikes. When you have a cheating spirit where does it end?”

“I’m a trainer, there’s no magic.”

“Cyclists who are “charged” don’t feel tired.”

“I’m not accusing, I’m asking some questions.”

“It’s very surprising.”

Also calling Deegan names like punk, asshole…

20 minutes of phony gutter innuendo. Just can't believe my ears. Compared to these two, Cooksey and Hopper deserve a Pulitzer.

Sick

I would like to weigh in on that topic. I've been listening to LeBigUSA podcasts for years (with DV and now Kervella) and just like Pulpmx, they are here to talk, ask questions, analyse, debate, and for what? To entertain!

Like Steve, JT, etc, LeBigUSA and his guests do a good job for the french listeners.

While your quotes are correct, I get the impression that your post, and your other responses on this thread, might imply that LeBigUSA and his guests are kind of... impudent. Actually, this is the opposite, even behind a paywall, even in a language Americans couldn't understand, they remain extremely respectful of all riders. You mentioned "punk", "asshole". You know how Kervella talks, he always uses slangs, antiphrasis or expressions that are full of imagery. That's why he is fun to listen to. It's never disrespectful, well, not in my ears.

Three weeks after the "orange juice", here we go again...

Kervella: "He (Deegan) went back at it at the end of the second moto, thanks to the celery soup he's taking".

Lebig: nothing.

As I formerly wrote, you hardly can call what was said a "refutation"...

Most times, I would agree with you.

Repeated innuendo about using PED doesn't seem that funny IMO.

So did Jett and Sexton. We should start a thread about it and really call them out

Yup, I liked what he did in some GPs in the 80's but here Kerv' is more and more looking like a tool ... Aging not well ... And LeBig may need to re frame that before he burn too many bridges.

I want SO much to root for this kid.  I can see with my own eyes that he has serious skills.

I put Dunge as the bar for good clean riding and sportsmanship.  I do realize that's a pretty high bar.

I've also been in the mix (nowhere near their level) but the standards are the same.

He is young...in the spotlight...huge expectations and a famous dad.  That's a lot of pressure.

Personally, I'd rather have KW's legacy of "also ran" than that of a spoiled entitled brat.  (Don't remember anyone shitting on KW because he never gave anyone a reason to).

He will either be a respected champ or hated by half the fans.  He's young...no telling which path he chooses.  No matter what...it's his choice.  He has to live with it.  I'm hoping I can be a lifelong fan cause I dig his talent.
