They held a race once a year in the common just outside Mildenhall RAFB UK. Beck Row specifically. I lived in the GI filled low rent houses that abutted the common.
Track was laid out with some banners and stakes on virgin grass. Slick as snot on a doorknob until the soil was exposed...then it became the most glorious traction I have ever ridden. The old 400 was on rails. I still love the memory of that place.

Knobby Hill in Hortonville IN. Dick and Roberta were the the owners and the track had elevation changes and ripped deep...not sand like everywhere else. Held pro ams where locals took the wins over big time sx racers. Open practice 7 days a week and told to take a few slow laps to see where the cows were. Yes I had a few close calls.

Hmmm, I don't remember you being there with me but you nailed most of my experiences. You did miss the great pubs, seeing AC/DC 3 times and playing foosball with Angus, riding the Isle of Mann course, and grabbing one of those British beauties to take home.
I guess you could say I grabbed life by the tits and never let go but it's more like Forrest Gump. If I kicked it tonight...I ain't got any complaints.
I've tried but can't decide which one was best. I liked 'em all! The motivation was somewhere else.
Martin Mx in Martin, Michigan.
Outstanding track prep on a consistent basis, paired with a flowy layout. The track starts off very loamy in the early motos and forms some amazing ruts throughout the day. On the best days, the lines will change each time out.
If I lived closer, I would be there once a week.

Hah! The cows! Knobby Hill was the best, raced the Indiana State race there in 82... loved that track. I actually know someone who hit a cow there...
Hidden Valley in Rome City Indiana back in the late 70's early 1980 was awesome as well...
Austin, Manitoba, circa 1987, heavy rain the previous day on a groomed sand track that got as deep as Lommel when it was dry. The promoter didn't seem that big on smoothing out the bumps most of the time -- the sand whoops along the back straight by the railway were regularly 4-5 feet tall at least. But this day, most of the track was smooth as silk with tons of traction. Took out my CR80, first practice of the day, and put down first tracks pretty much pinned the whole time. Rear wheel steering on that wet sand, power-sliding everywhere, quite a sensation and one I'll never forget.
Local track in Halle east of Holland named De Kappenbulten. GP caliber track that has no GP but should host one. Nut sure if it’s well known. Has a tabletop jump thats named after Mike Healey. On prime conditions that track is so cool. Its wide, has nice sections and is psysically very demanding
It’s a gas over there. Still remember my 1st trip. So stoked for you and how you grabbed The British Experience by the horns and ran with it.

Kahoka MX in Kahoka, Missouri was my all time favorite track. Got to race on it twice during AMA National Hare Scrambles.
Any track Guy Cooper built was always super fun; be it Cooperland, the MX tracks at "the 500" or his personal tracks, various arenacross and mx tracks around central Oklahoma.
When I was going for my pro license I raced at Mt Carroll and that track was really fun. My conditioning was NOT prepared for that race, but I went anyways.
Low Country mx in Hardeeville sc was simply amazing all time favorite

Hidden valley in Rome City? Been racing Indiana since 91, but never heard any stories of it. What was this track like?

Fernley NV isn't anyone's idea of a great track however I had great rides there and enjoyed every minute.
Washougal WA is wicked as hell unless you have control of the throttle and have spun some laps there, but it's tough to find a prettier stop, or more excitement in anticipation....I am always stoked to be on my way to Washougal.
Mankato MN on a Saturday when rain passed through on a Thursday - so much fun.
Millville when I was in shape and well rested -- been a few years.
All of this said, Lakewood CO is the best track I've ridden.
Castle Rock, CO was the worst --for dust. Red Bud - for ruts --- ruts all the way around, it was 2 miles of ruts, with parking around it, that was 15 years ago - never returned, maybe should shoot over there.
I heard Fernley is coming back soon! Which would be good, because I need redemption...

Sandhill ranch back in 1982 was my favorite. Old school with off cambers and loamy. Saturday Saddleback was also good.

I agree on Parker valley, but I am a little biased.
Castillo Ranch was really fun every time I rode there.
Frozen Ocean track in upstate NY. I haven’t been there in years but the place was amazing years ago.
Lake Whitney and Sand hills ranch.
Plymouth, CA. Original Hangtown track.
Foxhills. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m a hard pack fan and being a kid watching my hero’s ride round there in the 90’s make every lap feel that much special.
plus there is no feeling like riding towards the big drop off, being 4foot from the edge and still only being able to see sky. Feels like you’re jumping into the middle of the earth!
Spent many Wednesdays at Smith Road Raceway, also close by is Sunset Ramblers in Galion. Maybe not the best track ever but very fun. I think I'm realizing that every track that I rode is my favorite. Sandusky Valley in Tiffin ranks high as well.

Having moved around a bit in the past 6 years I started making a list of all the tracks I've ridden. Currently I'm at 94 tracks and hoping to break 100 before the end of the year.
My top 3 tracks would be, and all for the same reason, flow and dirt/sand:
1. Midwest Extreme Park, Merwin, MO
2. Florida Tracks and Trails (closed), Punta Gorda, FL
3. Leisure Time MX, Medaryville, IN
As a Washington guy, I vote for LACR, followed closely by Cahuilla.
