Thanks, didn’t know he had a 2 year deal with them. Hopefully they develop the bike more and he gets some more top 10 results.

@insider Regarding De Baets and emx250. I am not talking about 'just' a trailer/rig. Hutten has their own fitness area, appartments for the riders, support staff (riding coach, physical coach etc). I wonder what de baets can offer for that

Wilvo loses Yamaha.

So far as I know an other team in the paddock will do the emx250 for Yamaha, not the Baets

Walking round the pits yesterday, someone is getting rich off the new expandable trailers, i think there were 7 in total, 2 for Kawasaki , and 3 for HRC, 2 for Standing Construct.

Adds nothing to the show IMO , especially the HRC ones where its blanked out apart frim 2 ft or so at ground level of the trailers.

One of the HRC ones is hospitality, so yea, it's not visible because being watched eating isn't fun

The newest HRC one is a VIP lounge, and is only going to select MXGPs, where there are important guests attending. This is meant to be private and as such, you can't see in

HRC CzechRepublic %C2%A9hondaracing %40shotbybavo DSC 4811.jpg?VersionId=lmVaThFvuDU

The other one is for the bikes and has the clear strip at the bottom to allow people to see the bikes. Not only are these things easier to setup, they save money on nights of hotel due them being able to arrive later, they give an air-conditioned working environment to the mechanics (or warmed, if its cold outside), they also block a lot of sound and a lot of the wind and rain, making that nicer. So yea, for the people who work in them 18 weekends a year, they are very very appreciated

My comments about de Baets where just to make clear to not judge the book by its cover. No idea what they have in place and who they have on their team for Paturel. I don’t think they are considered to run the EMX 250 team, but it could make sense they will increase their involvement over time. They also operate a large Yamaha dealership and it’s not too far from Genk where Kemea builds a new facility where the whole official Yamaha official supported teams could work from, the EMX programs included. It’s pure speculation but I can imagine Yamaha see the benefit of an operation here that is comparable with what Star does in the US.

not only you can create great synergy, you are also way more in control of the whole chain but it’s also interesting from a costs perspective with sharing staff over every class.

Again it’s all speculation from my side but it would make sense.

I dont doubt that they are great for the team, but for the fans, they suck .

I come from a WRC background, and we used to work out of 6m Hexagonal EZ-UPS , now they transport sectional buildings all over the world, and fan access is poorer as a result.

Sometimes progress , isnt progress.

I saw a Neil Prince Podcast last week, where he said that after they had a mare with their truck or something , they did a British Champs with a van and an EZ-UP and he said he had forgotten how cool it was to get the fans up close again

Not suggesting we can ever go back to that , and i totally get why you have to wine and dine the folk that pay the bills, but its all getting a bit sterile.

Its racing a motorbike round a field, after all.

Especially with  a back drop of half of the grid riding for buttons, and at some races, the other half not even being there.

Fully agree. The guys in charge want this sport to be something it is not.

Imo its another bs story about more value for the sponsors and good for the team. When reality is that it is another cost increase that apparently isnt recouped (where is honda mx2?) just like we saw with more races overseas, no purses, tv on a paid website, entry fees increase, mxgp & mx2 in 1 event, etc etc.

Bottom line with all these flash transporters is more that go the "legit" motocross tracks won't have room for them. Hello 1 off man made circuits in the middle of a road race circuit or car park.

I hear the decision has not been made yet by Yamaha Europe. Maybe at the end of July or first week of august.

I also believe it’s a good kid and is obviously talented but I think his options are slim. He had 2 factory teams before (Husqvarna and Kawasaki) and didn’t show consistency to be justified at Yamaha or any other factory team. With Triumph starting in MX2 and Mikkel that has 1 more year left in the class it could help the team with the development of the 250 and it could help Haarup as well to be in the picture or even transfer to the Triumph 450 bike in 2025. I wonder who is in the race for the second seat.

I think they need to hire Bobby Bruce. It's a British manufacturer and our only British rider who can score points in MX2. Although he does seem to be injured a lot.

Bobby is a great rider and started showing some really speed before his injury. For Brits I think he’s the one that could be around for a while on the MXGP scene. RE Haarup I heard he was really good on a 450 and people/teams were really excited about him. There was a rumour he would go to 450 after leaving Dixon.

Yep, would be cool to see if they pick Bobby up but let's see. It's such a shame we have no one else coming through but that's another story.

I think Triumph will look at the top 5 EMX 250 riders or top 10 MX2 riders, but most there either move up or already have a factory contract for next year. Bruce is a bit the same as Rizzi, good riders but not really what they would look for at Triumph.

You are right, but like I said, a British rider on a British bike would be good, just to give them a chance.

There's yet another thing about the '23 and You're Out - and the 2 Titles and You're Out in MX2 ; Having a rider young enough, that is a good development / set up rider.

Now, there might be some - after all, they can be part of the GPs from , is it 16?, and some could be there from the EMX125 series onwards.

I've no idea of Haarups abilities with regards to those points, but,  he's got  some experience, and that  year  left in MX2. If he actually gets the ride, I wish him well.

There's nothing quite like the absolute  furnace of top level racing, that allows prototypes / new models, to really find , perhaps a final set up, problem, or a cure for problem(s).

I'd be interested to see if Triumph will have a British Series rider(s) - I'm not sure if that is open to prototypes, but if so, it's another avenue for development, besides MX2 and the Production based US series.

I really am happy to see Triumph get into Dirt Bikes - it was quite a surprise when it was announced, and the Bloors don't mess around.

I see No downside to another manufacturer in the  Dirt Bike market, and Racing.

Haarup was on Dixon garage Kawasaki not Factory team I would think and their split caused his bikes not even running properly at earlier rounds this year?

Haarup has been at F&H as well, which is the official Kawasaki MX2 team.

Haarup would be a great signing for Triumph. 7th overall last year, still a year mx2 left. Not sure who better they could get (without spending massive €).

For Haarup i also understand, he will be avictim of the age rule anyway, the odds of him landing a good mxgp ride are very small. Better cash in before his career is over.

Thanks, didn’t know he had a 2 year deal with them. Hopefully they develop the bike more and he gets some more top 10 results.

Can’t make my mind up about Watson. Not sure if he cuts it in MXGP or the Beta is not a developed bike yet. The bike looks really slow of the start. Good job he has a ride for next year or he may have struggled for a deal.

He’s been on 2 factory teams since joining the MXGP class & hasn't really done anything of note. It’s probably a case of him & the Beta.

Yeah his rookie season on yam was ok. He said he had a bad year on the kawi but think this season is worse. Even if he had a proper factory ride the class is that stacked now I think he would struggle to be a top 10 guy.
