I have said this since the beginning. This is not a 9-12 month injury for a world class athlete. He had his surgery at a world class clinic and has access to the best physical therapy. I don’t think the SMX rounds are 1000% out of the question although that would be a huge surprise. I think at minimum he can put in his normal supercross prep though.

Man these guys are unreal. Max Anstie was back on the bike after 4 1/2 months after the same injury.

That's because his wife threatened him.

I asked on here and ML said Friese injured his Achilles in November. Same for Rodbell according to the Racer X injury reports throughout SX. Friese raced WSX a few weeks ago and Rodbell is racing Washougal. So you figure that’s 7ish months back to racing. Tomac injured first week of May? So 7ish months puts us at November? Seems like based on the most recent examples SX isn’t unreasonable. I sure hope so…

Mayo Clinic says recovery is in the four to six month range, so it's possible he could be back on a motorcycle as soon as September.

That definitely appears to be a man rehabbing with a purpose.

Well I was wrong. I said no way he makes A1. He’s wayyyy ahead of schedule if he’s doing that. On Pulp last week someone called in and said they saw him walking without the walking boot on and the hosts, and myself, were like no way. But that caller had to be right if he’s doing this already.

I told you nerds he isn’t done. I think he saw how Dungey retired too early, and he’s like f that. Jett is punching air right now.

I’ll take your bet (cold beverage of your choosing), I think he’s had some serious time with his family and has nothing left to prove. He should be set financially so why risk a more serious injury. Family is everything!

Great to see the Champ putting in the rehab work and getting back to 100%! Hope he races again but even if he retires, all this rehab work will insure his body returns to full functionality for the rest of his life.

Question.  If his Achilles Tendon heals as expected will it be 100% or will it be a weak link that is prone to injury again?

On average, it looks like "The rate of re-rupture of the Achilles tendon after surgical treatment has been reported to be in the order of 1.7–5.6%.". If we factor in that he is a world-class athlete with the best possible treatment, I'd cut that number in half.

TLDR; Tomac is immune to re-rupture :D

I think he'll be doing WSX next year.  He only has to beat Kenny for the championship and the money will be great for SX only.

Tomac is an athlete. Reminds me of a Dungey or O-show, he will be in shape for the rest of his life. No way he was going to just sit on the couch and get fat. Wether he comes back or not, I 100% believe he CAN come back to top level racing if he wants to.
