It's not just about qualifying, he would have qualified with just his soupy results. To me the only reason he went outdoors was about seeding.
This is really bizzare. Before missing red bud, Cooper was looking like a pretty serious threat to be going into SMX as the #1 seed.
Suprising that he would be willing to give up the #1, and more suprising that KTM would be willing to let go of their best shot at a SMX title.

I am neither a Webb fan or hater... I like having him out there and appreciate his ability to close out races and apply pressure at just the right time.
But I also don't think he was anywhere near his best on a Yamaha 450... Granted, that wasn't a Star bike.
I get this flashback when I think of him on a blue 450...

If Webb is going back to blue, I can't imagine he would do so unless the bike is working for him. Clearly the old pre-Star 450 was not (for anyone).

Coop was a concussion and 2 rounds away from being a 3X 450sx champ. Actually most upset that barcia got hurt when he did would have liked to see him get it.
Moranz is coming back outdoors on a KTM, put him on Webb's bike for the remaining rounds and SMX.

Webb hasn't been able to replicate the 250 success he had outdoors since moving up to the 450, so I wouldn't say it's the bike.
