If the WSX started pulling talent from the MXGP plus the Lawrence brothers from here then the tone from the Aussie and Euro posters would change dramatically.

Why? At least we'd get to see the Lawrence's racing live..

As I've said SX has been pulling talent from the GPs for decades

Let it rip!  Pull Herlings, Prado, and the rest from MXGP along with the AMA talent.  Let’s have a real World Championship.  That’d be something I’d pay to watch.

Yeah sure buuut

One thing some of you guys are struggling to fathom is no one is forcing riders to race the WSX.. The riders that are lining up want to for a number of reasons.. If Herlings, Prado and the rest from MXGP wanted to they would be

AUSX/Paris Invite has been doing a better job at attracting top tier guys to race overseas for a while now.

Are you going to fly to Abu Dhabi to watch them? The WSX isn't racing locally for anybody all year round so how is it different than one off events in your local area that actually attracts big names and crowds?

What local races that feature International level SX riders?

THAT's the exact point. You US-based people have no idea what it's like.

Sure each country has its own top level talent but that's not the show Feld or WSX put on (or propose to in WSX case).

Do you US people go to every round or just your most local and watch the rest on TV, I don't get the argument?

That’s right.  Until the Herlings and Prados switch over then Friese will win your WSX Mains in empty stadiums.  No offense to Friese, I’m a fan. Good luck Jemcee, I really hope you can recruit the MXGP talent.

It ain't me man I'm not even watching! I'm over SX by about Rd 8-9 at the start of the year.. I just think it's silly all the hate it gets mainly from the same people that will constantly talk about SX being the most important and prestigious series in the world then they get all upset and offended when someone else wants a piece of it..

I do like the idea of SX fans around the world getting the chance to see their sport live though

My first point was AUSX has usually had a higher profile rider list than what the WSX is currently advertising. I see Kiwi is in your screen name but as far as I know, there are no New Zealand WSX rounds so the AUSX would seemingly be your local round that would draw international talent.

To expect AMA / Feld kind of attendance in countries that have less population than most US states and considerably fewer dirt bike enthusiasts even than that is ridiculous

The oilers funding this series aren't doing it out of passion, it's a money making venture. When one of the few ways to be profitable in this market is to sell tickets and they are failing that, it is a very valid concern.

To expect a world series in its second building year to be attracting the top, top riders in the world and perform at the level we all are used to with the AMA/Feld SX Series, a series running nearly 50 years, is ridiculous.

Then they shouldn't compete against the two biggest MX markets in the world when it's trying to be a start up venture. Are they the most elite and premier or are they a new idea? You can't pick and choose when it comes to criticism... Either you're the biggest and bestest as you claim or you're just the start up that keep failing on promises.

You said it yourself, you're so close to getting it!! It's ridiculous! But it's the WSX side who has these expectations and they need to achieve them to last. Sure, someone is welcome to try, but go reread your own statements and maybe you'll see the problem. Enjoy it while it lasts, but this is a temporary annoyance unless very rich people decide they'd like to be less rich for the sake of a second rate niche racing series. As you said, ridiculous.

The real question is how long are the investors willing to lose money. As of right now i guarantee wsx is in a very deep hole. In my opinion its going to be short lived if attendance stays like this.

I've never claimed they were the biggest and bestest...but I don't expect them to say "Hey come and see the best 3rd rate SX?MX show on earth (until we convince the others to join our series)" in their marketing either.

Be realistic, how do you promote a race series in any form of marketing or advertising?...you blow it up not down.

I think you are taking things a little too literally.

You should inform SX Global communication team, because that's what they're selling for the second year in a row (with the ticket prices that go with it).

So is dc with nationals it’s called business  , did he drop your ticket prices this year because you had 4 factory guys instead of 10-15?

I never said those were your claims. If you're asking me how do they advertise their series outside of "we're the best" I'd just point at every other off season SX series that has been growing and has been profitable.

Yes, I do need to take their claims literally when it's directly competing with the two largest motocross series in the world. Notice how none of the AX, AUSX, overseas SX races are criticized like this? It's because they aren't actively saying "yeah nah, we're actually better than them. Trust us."

I'm all for competition but that doesn't mean nothing can be criticized. They've been fumbling this thing so badly.

Pfft.

Just wait until Vancouver if dismal looking crowds are your thing.  If it still happens.

As a Brit I have mixed feelings about this event and was borderline on going this year since it was announced.

I've previously flown out to Paris for a long weekend to watch the SX there and had a great time visiting the city in the off season. Then last year bought the tickets on the day of release, drove 4 hours and spent the night in Cardiff, had a great time and was super pumped to see Eli and Ken racing supercross in person, in winter in the off season.

But then this year it was announced that there would be a race in the middle of summer in Birmingham which even though it's closer to my house to be honest I had no interest in visiting, when there's a choice in visiting a city I don't really like to miss any chance of riding I just couldn't justify going.

I ended up going away in the van for two nights and getting 6 hours of seat time on the bike, I think I made the right choice

Stadium may not have been full, but those that were there looked like they were having a great time. Good on em.

That makes zero sense. Go ahead and make it a hate on American’s for some reason.  But I am more referring to that saying that has been going around this sport and the NHL.  Always trying to grow but when does it stop. Isn’t it just great how it is?

It's probably been covered and discussed before but I don't know why WSX doesn't run three rounds through November into the first week of December. No clashes, and would help AMA Supercross riders get ready for the upcoming season.

Because it would mean running indoors and the only places in the UK where it could take place are all higher capacity venues where the empty seats would be even more obvious.

Plus it wouldn't change anything. Hosting a race in December wouldn't magically mean people could now afford to go. If anything it would be worse just before Christmas.

I didn't strictly mean the UK, but the Millenium Stadium was a great choice last year and has a roof.

Have you ever watched the Qatar motogp or old mxgp rounds? They were the most empty races you ever saw, more spectators at and 8th grade track meet.

You added the “R” to motocross…rendering any further opinions from you moot.

Oh, and the AMA is ours, because the first “A” stands for American…not that they do us any good anyway. Too busy protecting the right of HD riders everywhere to have loud pipes and a pudding bowl helmet.

Actually, it's not ridiculous if you plan to succeed unless success is a second tier series of off season races.  You can't fake it until you make it when you are competing against established product.  You've got one chance to make a first impression, less with fans than with the riders and OEMS, and they failed that.

The value of any series aspiring to the pinnacle is the talent.   That is monopolized by the OEMs for the most part (Oh, but Kenny!!!!).  If you don't swing in with large bags of cash to swing that to you out of the gate you are screwed in this sport.  WSX did not declare war in a real way, but puffed, and then created scheduling conflicts that dictated they would not get top talent and got the talent who did not have the opportunity to make more money racing AMA races or FIM motocross.

That is a neutral assessment.  I am more than happy to watch any race taking place anywhere with any good riders.  I don't want another financial war between competitors, and to some extent the current structure has been a sweet spot for getting races in different parts of the world.   This is a small sport even in motorsports and there are not unlimited resources to prime it.

At the price they are paying teams, ken roczen, shipping costs, stadium costs, track building cost, labor, tv costs etc all while they are giving tickets awayk how can you not clearly see they are losing money big time right now.

The real question is how long are the investors willing to lose money. As of right now i guarantee wsx is in a very deep hole. In my opinion its going to be short lived if attendance stays like this.

What happened to your boy Tony Cochran? You know the guy that was president of WSX...The guy that brought in the Abu Dabi investors? That's right it was never ( or very very quietly) announced that he split with WSX and Bailey last March....it remains to be seen how that affects the investment....I sure as hell wouldn't say that it's a safe bet that they stay involved for 5yrs if they're not making a profit...
