How was it supposed to be a stacked field? Everyone was there last year and it was a two-rider race almost every weekend. Remove Tomac and add Jett, and you get what we have now. Dylan was solid today and I think he'll continue to improve.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since you've been around here for a while, but in my opinion there is almost zero similarities to what Jett is doing and what RC did. Maybe the numbers are the same, but the style, process, and attitude are entirely different. Like him or hate him, this kid is special and when it's all said and done he'll be another one we'll be saying "I was lucky enough to be able to see him in person."
Jett's podium interview today after the second moto....poor Dylan.
On paper a phenom rookie, the dominant 2021 mx champion, 2022 mx champion and the dude that pushed the 2022 mx champion to the brink should have equated to a good series.
Rc decimated the field but it doesnt matter if you win by an inch of mile, the kid keeps winning...like RC.
Jett is starting out the 450 class way more dominant than RC and James did. We are looking at a possible perfect season in a rookie year. Amazing.

Jett has earned the comparison to RC and JS already. He is that good in my honest opinion.
I didnt think he would be, or maybe didnt want him to be, but 10-10 speaks for itself.
How was this supposed to be a stacked field? Last years champ is out, 2nd place missed time, 3rd place from last year had his first race today, 4th place from last year… he’s gone too. 5th place he ain’t there. 6th place he’s not there either. 7th place, that’s the first guy racing this year that was there last year. 7th place. FYI, 8-9-10 there all out of the series as well.
I agree, he's just doing it in such a different way.
At the start of nationals we had ferrandis, sexton and lawrence. If Sexton doesnt crash and get mono (or honda soesnt want to rig it for jett
) and Ferrandis is anywhere close to full speed then i say that could be a pretty stacked top 3.
We'll just have to agree to disagree man, because "stacked" and "top three" are not the same thing to me.
Least stacked 450 field ever.
I’m a Tomac fan but I’m gonna stamp it. He wouldn’t have anything for Jett. Bring it. You can’t hurt me.
I think Jett would be winning no matter who lined up . He gets out front and trail rides
Yep, he's that good in my opinion too. Weak field my ass. Let's see if #23 has anything for him.
I guess a lot changed the last month of SX. I was probably looking more at what could have been. That said add Tomac and if Ferrandis is close to 100% then thats pretty good field. I Dont remember when Barcia and Anderson got hurt, I think Barcia was only a few weeks before SX was over. But in the last month before mx:
Tomac got hurt
Webb got hurt though he did make it to nationals
Roczen bailed for WSX
Riders liked AC, AP, Anderson, Barcia are good riders when healthy.
If those injuries didnt happen and Roczen shows up thats pretty stacked to me. Sure theres a top tier of guys with 3(1),14, 18, 23 and sometimes 94. But the others can mix it up with them too.
Head to head. You would have to think tomac could beat jett atleast 50% of the time.
But the way jett has been starting you would think he would have a comfortable points lead.
Until recently the best 3 starters would be chase, rozcen and ac. Other then 1 moto they have had nothing for jett. Tomac has been a lot better on the yz.
Jett said he saw Ferrandis coming and wicked it up and easily pulled away. He will be a front runner next year too, no matter who comes back.
RC would have distroyed Jett . Just like he did ever other rider. I see Jett as RV ,RD, Reed ,ET, Kenny, speed . How close was Reed ever near RC .
Pit Row
Before practice at Pala, I was joking with some friends and said "Jett is going 1-1 today and will have the red plate for the next 6 years!" Turns out, he might. He is that good.
A healthy Herlings is the only rider in the world that could change Jett`s historic mx run this year.
Why did Webb not line up for Red Bud?
I'm ok with Jett's phenomenal performance so far and I'm silenty hoping that he get it done...what we are witnessing don't come often.
The racing behind him has been pretty good so far. I also have never taken much notice of Masterpool but damn, he is still young and as a privateer mixing it up with the factory dudes I've become a fan. He is earning a factory ride in my opinion.
Each and every year is different and I like it. I'm passionate about dirtbikes...mx and sx. It's a pleasure watching Jett pick his way around these iconic American tracks and we all know how brutal Southwick is. Really looking forward to watching Jett ride sand.
Regardless of who is out with injuries we cannot discount the dudes who are still lining up. The grind and hussle to be there on the gate ain't easy and to survive two 35 minute motos in summer Is something that is often overlooked by us forum specialists...couchmunchers or whatever you call yourself.
We are lucky to have this series. One day it may all be gone. Live and Appreciate the moment!
It be nice to watch him come thru the pack …..but that doesn’t even happen
That’s the thing that’s either very impressive or very scary depending on your point of view.
Outdoors I agree about RC. Indoors he didn’t destroy anyone but he found a way to win.
I’m an Aussie and as big a fan of Reed as anyone for not only his achievements but putting Australia on the map in world MX/SX. Having said that, I consider Jett a step above Reed so far in his career.
I’ll add this though - Reed battled RC through the peak of his career and did well. Obviously a good SX rider but much better outdoors than his achievements suggest. If you take RC out of the 2000’s and put him in any other decade you could take a bunch of titles off the best of those eras. RV and RD for example might only have a few titles between them, and conversely Reed and Stewart would probably have at least one more outdoor title each and 1-2 more indoor titles.
It’s an interesting debate though - when you have a dominate rider is it because they are that much better than anyone or is it because the opponents are not great?
RC “destroyed” guys plenty indoors especially pre Reed and Stewart. You don’t win 13 straight by only finding ways to win and you don’t win 9 of the last 10 a year later with out destroying the competition quite a few times. Lapped up to 3rd at Daytona 03. He did plenty of destroying from 2001 thru Daytona 03.
If you take RC out of the picture, Windham would have four premier titles and Reed would have extra four as well. Interestingly Stewart would have no additional titles.
The only people that can stop Jett, is some unknown woman😂 and Et3. But hes not here at the moment….
It’s funny at this stage of the championship, with what we’ve seen, that people are still finding excuses why Jett isn’t that good.
At this point, they know they have nothing for him. Why risk injury pushing to keep up?
They all need to be ready for the playoff, which has a huge purse. IMO, the playoff is just as responsible for this summer's abysmal effort from factory riders as Jett's dominating performance.
The way that Monster Girl was looking at him on the podium...
