i was Donald Uptons mechanic that year.. in 99 he rode hondas.. that suzuki was a barrowed bike, I was at that rm cup with him but wasnt wrenching for him. The guy who let him use the rm did the wrenching. And as you can see his seat fell off. I told the guy that he sucks and cost don alot of money becuz he wouldnt let me take care of the bike.

Yeah that bike was totally falling apart.. I've had that happen a couple times and it sucks. Nothing more uncomfortable than sitting on a sub frame..

Anyone think that if TP was a little more focused on moto that he would have been a greater racer than RC?

I doubt it simply because he seemed to be sort of injury prone. Although a lot of those injuries were brought on from play riding and freestyle comps. RC was not only the GOAT but he was also the most durable of all time which is huge when racking up the titles.

The best part of that comp was when he launched in the bay...It's amazing to think about how much they've progressed since then. The announcers all "Look at that extension on the cliff hanger, His butt is 3ft off the seat!!! " lol

Yet he couldn't pass Tedesco and managed to wad it up. Everyone in the stands saw that one coming. We were betting on what lap. Best ever. Nope, no way.

There is a difference between best 'rider', 'motocrosser', and 'fastest' guy. Being the first doesn't mean the best either. Travis is no doubt an incredibly skilled moto pilot. Fastest?, not quite, Best?, arguable, could go for that one. I think the world trials champs are actually the 'best' moto riders in the world. Like Rossi and David Knight are best in their discipline, which they could 'crossover' pretty well I'm sure. But I dont think 'speed' or 'daring' mean 'best rider'. I think technically trials wins for 'best rider'.
