So I take it you never dabbled in the RC game ? Honestly $600 is very reasonable for these.
I made the mistake of getting into racing RC cars with Tanner. I started with a 2WD truck (all electric), then a 4x4 truck, then a 2WD buggy and then a 4x4 buggy… all Kyosho products.
I ended up with about $10K into them all with extra batteries, multi chargers, tools, etc. it’s definitely addicting once you get the hang of it !
We started going to all the different RC tracks around California. Tanner was racing the Expert class and doing pretty well, I was a descent driver, but crashed too much and broke my shot all the time. I sold everything to his buddy and got out of it.
One of our friends (Jared Tebo) has made a living racing them for the last 20 years, he use to race motocross with Tanner and was a solid intermediate before quitting. His sponsors got a little upset when he got hurt riding and couldn’t fly to the races overseas. So he had to give it up for awhile. He dropped out of high school to travel the world racing them. He just announced his retirement a week or so ago and has his own line of hop-up parts (JTP) for the serious racers. Great dude and a member on here as well !

Yeah I’ve got over $1,300 in my Losi buggy. These are a great price at $600. They’re not toys like the old Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael bikes. These are hobby grade RC with tons of technology and full availability of parts.
People that think it’s expensive have no idea what hobby grade RC costs. This is an amazing price for a RTR Losi product.

I did, but only dipped a toe in. Had a Traxxas Slash 2WD and that’s as far as I went. I don’t have the ability to get deep into it haha. I have a customer that’s deep into it and raced constantly. I hear the money he spends and I want zero part of that.

I inherited my late brother's RC collection in '13. I'd reckon there is $10k worth of shit in my garage. those RC's are amazing...and EXPENSIVE. $600 for this bike is pretty standard for a RTR kit. If they made it a DIY kit, you'd end up $1500 into it.
I agree with past RC bikes we have seen so far. There is something about RC bikes at low speed, rubbing on the side thingies, and then speeding up in a wobble as it balances on 2 wheels. I've never been a fan.
BUT... this is different. The stabilization they are using, the work of the good folks of Losi.. today's sensors and batteries are a bit better than say, 10 years ago. This is not like the McGrath or Ricky bike.
I'd say let's give it a chance before thrashing it. I agree for the money an RC car is a proven value, but as far as MOTO is concerned, this seems to be the closest our sport has come in RC form.
Personally, I am not too fond of heavy R/Cs. Planes or land vehicles. Heavy mass equals more wear and repairs and costly crashes. And little kids and pets around never liked being hit by anything weighty. For realism this larger scale is the way to go, but I would love to play with a much smaller version, not a 4 pounds heavy one.
See you in 10 years when we have mind controlled 1/24 scale R/C dirt bikes that can shred on the restaurant table while waiting for the food. Tabletop Wheelie boys, woohoo !
Dang. these guys are doing HARSH flat landing. Looks fun. I wouldn't sweat the broken parts, All of these can be swapped/ repaired.
It would be worse in real life. Broken ankles and wrists on those landings

Fair enough... I will eventually try it. But its the same thing only newer and going to be the same outcome. The gyros that are "making this new version amazing" are just numbing the actual feel you can get from an "analog" 1/10th off road buggy (~$299 RTR on Amainhobbies.com). You can actually whip a real buggy and its half the price. These are like flying a quadcopter on hover mode instead of "full acrobat mode".
I just hope RC racing can get just a little bit of attention into the sport from these "bike sponsors" flooding the video. Traxxas is at every full scale race on the planet and has NEVER given a damn thing to RC Racing. At least this is TLR or Losi and I hope some of the energy goes into RC instead of just taking from it.

I think he’s saying they’ve never been involved in supporting RC racing. Traxxas has its place. They make some really cool trucks and tailor their stuff to make it more accessible to the average Joe. They’re 2 minutes from me and I go to their headquarter’s store pretty frequently.
Traxxas was a big player in racing back in the early 90's (and even had a few factory supported racers in the nitro monster truck class in the mid 00's), not that either are current but their history was based in racing. You could argue that Traxxas RTRs have been a gateway for more people to get into RC racing than any other brand also.
I do get the general point that they aren't directly influencing and investing in race products these days though.

When I got my boys into RCs I didn't want to go the Kit form like my RC 10s and Losi's so got 3 Nitro rustlers and then 3 Nitro Slayer 4x4 pros. Great RTRs and hard to break.
Agreed, we run slash 4x4's for quite a few years now but no real classes for us to enter. Trying to get my son into some 1/8 racing as of late
Exactly that. They are involved in every other sport but the one they profit from.
Imagine Honda selling bikes to all the people of the moto industry (One of the largest bike manufacturers out there) and then not supporting racing those bikes at all. No race sponsorships. No Factory race team. No local teams. No support of local race tracks. No Factory bikes. No Factory support. Nothing. They are just asking for you to buy their products and not providing support to the main industry in any way.
How would that make you guys feel? Would you support Honda after that?

I had a couple Traxxas "TRX-1" 2wd buggies in 89-90. They had long shocks and A Arms and worked great on rough loamy tracks. That and the Stadium truck they had were the only memorable race rigs they ever had. Sad. They have SO much power and could do so much for the sport but they just wont make a race ready vehicle.

Yep, the TRAXXAS are not made for racing but they sure do good just for driving.
I agree. I love my Traxxas XRT, super fun to bash. I also have a Associated b16.4 that I use at my local dirt track (SDRC raceway).
Getting further away from the OG topic. They have pro events at SDRC and it's amazing how fast the pros can drive!

also, i watched a video on the break down of the bike... it makes sense that the price is listed at that.. and, it could be more honestly... This isnt like a regular prebuilt RTR car they sale for RC. This Bike needed a decent battery, receiver and controller, (you get a dx3 spektrum model out of box) i dont even know if there is a car that comes with a radio that nice...
but yeah, so it has some pre-upgraded parts for it to be able to do what its doing and thats okay... i can see tracks doing this as a fullly stock out of box class, changing tires only or something...

I've been in the RC world, on the ground and in the air, for over twenty years....
Why are you so offended by this thing? I get that it's not as analog as a buggy or similar, but it CAN'T be because of how it has to balance. Comparing it and judging it based on out of date tech seems pretty irrelevant. If you've watched the videos you can see this is an entirely different product than any existing RC motorcycle.
Everything is "the same thing only newer"
You don't have to like it, but you are throwing A LOT of hate for a guy who admittedly hasn't had any experience with the product.
