Roczen said he had no interest in racing outdoors, but watching the 1st moto of Colorado he decided it was time to race and made a call between motos. What do you think the 1st moto trigger? Watching Jett drag everyone again? Weak field? Masterpool making his boy AC look silly? Griffin told him to do it? Wife gave permission finally?
He's obviously not a big fan of outdoors. Something triggered him.

I would like to think that it has something to do with the same reason we all started racing to begin with….the competitive desire!
When did he say he had no desire to race outdoors? When he signed with WSX, he said he wanted to do a few outdoor races to get points for SMX.

Given Kenny’s win last year at Thunder Valley, the 450 entrants and their 2022 performance, I am surprised he didn’t show up there.

I don't know or care why he's racing..... I'm just stoked that we'll see him back out there. Part of me ( most of me actually ) hopes he's more prepared than what most people think. Nice highlight for the weekend for me.
Well played sir. Haters are gonna hate, but they seem to forget Ken has 2 450 titles.
Not denying he was good at outdoor motocross at one point but he literally said he signed the WSX deal because his body cant handle doing outdoors anymore.
That is exactly why he can choose what rounds he wants to compete at, when he feels ready to compete. He deserves respect given all the injuries he's overcome, and especially his previous success in MX. I hope he podiums.

He wants to race this weekend for the same reason I do. Except I pay to do it…..always have. I feel sorry for these guys when they hang it up at 35, then get bagged on for lining up at Chicken Licks or Loretta’s or wherever just cause they wanna get a gate drop in. To slow or over the Nats but too fast to race anywhere else without getting bagged on….that’s gotta suck. Ya gotta wait till your 50 when your really slow then race the Vet Worlds and Mammoth
Look at his general performance over the last 3 season. Comes in hot does good at the 1st couple. Then fades off and has a random good race normally Unadilla.
His issue isn't a mx round. Its 24 35min motor in about 14 weeks. He gets worn down as the season goes on.
Looking for easy (perceived) money, no set-up time gives him an excuse which helps his confidence. But who really know but Ken and his Missus.
