He only deserved the t-bone after running Justin Cooper off the track in SX (obviously not everyone agrees with that).
If Deegan only did that stuff to Lawrence then it’s fine. Of course we know he won’t …
I think I heard Hunter wasn't happy with Deegan after the moto. And for Hunter to defend Deegan in Detroit, it's pretty ironic.
Barcia has won two supercross 250 titles I believe. For sure has won one.
I dont know if that'll teach him a lesson... Barcia doesn't cross jump people, at least on purpose if my memory serves me right, but whenever people try to "teach him a lesson" they get that lesson thrown back in their face. But maybe Barcia is special in that regard where he doesn't mind and even seems to want to ride rough and have people ride rough with him.
Allegedly Deegan has been doing this his whole career. I would put a lot of blame on his dad for not correcting it when he was a kid.

Is it difficult to have a stewards panel to give penalties like in MotoGP maybe that would help in sx to say it’s a race accident or a dangerous take out just saying
I agree a little with this, but I think Deegan was also lucky it was a very patient Hunter behind him. There would have been many riders in the 250 class either not being that patient, or going for payback.
That was 20 years ago and I’m sure people were up in arms over it. Bubba didn’t have a reputation as a dirty rider either.
Bubba was confident of his skill and abilities. He didn't have to ride dirty. I think Deegan is under a ton of pressure from his Dad and the team to prove that he's "that guy", and he's not sure of himself yet.
I find the idiots bringing up random past occurrences from other riders interesting. Cross jumping is absolutely not acceptable. Brake checking is IMO fair game, but not exactly a smart play with that much time left in the motos. I liked the brake check Hymas put on Ferrandis (or was it AP).
I'm not ready to crucify Deegan for a one time incident. If it becomes a habit, it'll be time for some of these guys to teach a lesson. Most of the issues brought up previously by other riders were one off events. You make a wrong decision in the heat of the moment, learn from it, move on. We'll see if Deegan learns. My guess is he doesn't. But I'll watch and see.
Sorry I had to double check the post, re read it, thinking 3 minutes about it ; I agree with you, the crash with RC was not intentional, and he was not labelled as "dirty". That is about the thing I agree. But to say that JS7 was not dirty ? Are you kidding me ? RC ? Same. They would have killed anyone and even their mum to make a pass. And let us be clear too, it was a Deeg's thread, so lil Deegan is awesome, big fan here, but he is a few miles away from the same zip code as those 2. Even Jett is so far from the same league so far ; Jett is Mr Perfect, but he didn't change the sport yet !
Just to say that all I can remember is these 2 were absolutely sh...... on everyone, they were probably the 2 most dominant guys to throw a leg on a bike (3 with Hannah). These guys were f... BDSMs on the competition when they had the helmet on. They were mental. Each pass in the earlier stage of their career was a nice f u and now we want champs or rookies or whoever to ask the permission to the mechanic if, possibly, he may open the door for someone that may be a little faster. Just remember Tortelli vs. Everts or Tortelli vs. RC too, spectators had to stay a couple meters away from the barriers just in case a bike was flying there. And now we cry for a brake check at 10 mph .... MX/SX is still an extreme sport, do whatever you need to do to win except injuring someone, that is quite the only rule.
I finally got to see what all this hoopla was about..
Much ado Nothing! Kid is young.
All aboard the deegan wagon! lets fucking go!
Dude I usually agree with your takes on here, but this time you lost me at, "a one-time incident." It's already a habit with this kid.
Yeah, Ryan, he's been riding that way since 65s.
People are crazy if they think Brian is going to take him aside for a word not to do that, I think if anything it's the opposite.
You will find nothing but endless excuses for this kid when things go wrong. Always has been, always will be.
You missed a rider who was racing them anddirtier than both, Chad Reed.
That is such a scary view.
Pit Row
JCoop probably needs to thank Deegs for likely stalling Hunter's charge to the lead.
Brian knows how to race and race to win. He knows that isn't the way to race, let alone win.
All you softies saying that Dngr needs to “be taught a lesson”, did it ever cross your mind that with the speed and aggression he’s already showed, that maybe as the season goes on he will be the one doing the “teaching” on the track? Cuz he looks likes he’s only getting better to me
Whip into face is different than cross jump, not saying smart but still...
It's quite entertaining to see how mad it makes the jealous old men like you though.
I am too old and wise to be jealous of much these days. If I so obviously jealous please tell Vital and the whole world exactly what I am supposed to be jealous of. If my dream was to be a pro MX rider it sure as hell wouldn't be The Dangerboy.
you're literally your avatar..
There's a massive amount of irony in your post in this thread, namely the kid riding a wide bike like total spode trying to block the by far faster rider 3 minutes into the moto, and according to you he's only getting better. what he should have done is realized he didn't have the speed, or the lines, or both, and gave way to the faster rider then tucked in and learned from him. Learn where Hunter was faster, learn the better lines, just learn in general. That would have been the mature thing to do and likely would have benefited him more in the long run. Who knows, maybe he tucks in and learns better lines and stays with Hunter and moves forward. But instead the spode road graded with hopes he could block Hunter for 27 more minutes plus 2 laps and didn't learn a damn thing........You might want to get your eyes checked if you think that is an example of "only getting better".
He is only getting better, look at the results, he’s doing a lot more than either Lawrence brother did in their rookie campaigns. I disagree with your point entirely, you very rarely see the whole “let him by and follow his lines” strategy work. I think he should’ve executed the swerve or break check better maybe it would’ve left hunter on the ground, therefore giving DNGR a better chance of making up points. This isn’t fucking soccer or ballet, anything outside of cutting the track and aiming for someone’s leg with your wheel (ex. Barcia on Ferrandis at Budds) is fair game. The kid hasn’t done anything that’s crossed the line yet I only expect more of this kinda thing and I am here for it!
I wouldn't go so far as saying Deegan is doing better than Jett in his first full rookie year, Jett actually went 1-2 at Pala in his first race as a fulltime professional and Jett was younger then than what Deegan is this year as well... again Deegan is bloody talented and will have an amazing career but for me it's the looking behind and worrying who's behind you rather than racing forward...race hard and aggressive all you like but stop with the Mickey mouse crap 5 mins into a moto
Jett won pala in his last race of his rookie season.
But I don't see jett as a good comparison to deegan. Jetts road to pros and 1st season was much different.
Because jett has succeeded in everything ppl expect. For some reason they expect deegan to do it. But how many times in the last 20 years has the up and coming rookie won everything they should? Not often.
I personally see a lot more austin forkner in deegan. Forkners rookie mx season he got 3 overall podiums and a win.
I see you got downvoted for that, but Hunter lost four seconds to Cooper (when he had been gaining previously) while dealing with Deegan. Not saying he would have caught him, but that was a decisive factor in settling for second.
