Yeah, I get it pretty bad at times when it flares up. Seems to happen during a race. I was turned on to CBD (non-THC) by a company called life leaf. That stuff really has helped me get through the motos especially when it's a 3 moto format.I was at a race using Icee Hot when I was turned on by it. I couldn't believe how well it worked.
Are you positive that it's arthritis?
I had terrible pain in the joints of my fingers. It turned out to be gout.
I took tart cherry concentrate, and it went away in a few weeks.
There may be better supplements.
This one worked for me:

Copper fit gloves, work perfect.
I used to get it real bad, had to give up guitar which I played for 20 years. Turns out it was inflamation from food. Try an anti inflammatory diet for a few weeks, cut out sugar, dairy, gluten and alcohol. It was crazy because it turned out I'm alergic to dairy which is one of my favourite things in the world. Sucks but atleast all the pain in my knees and fingers has gone.
If you truly have arthritis or gout (I have both), your diet plays a huge part in inflammation. For me, processed sugar is my worst enemy.
Go to your Dr and get tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis. RA affects alot of things that snake oil doesn't treat.
I have arthritis in a few fingers. There's really not much you can do about it. All the snake oil (aka CBD) in the world doesn't do anything for arthritis. I constantly stretch my fingers and keep them moving. I extend my fingers and then tighten my grip throughout the day.
Only sensible quote in the thread and can't believe someone would down vote the voice of reason. Must be someone who believes in voodoo over science. If it is diagnosed by a physician as RA, there are a lot of good drugs out there to treat it.
AME oversized full waffle grips.
Everyone else is wrong, he needs good drugs. Got it
I've just gone through this myself, turns out it was my whole right side of my body, particularly the lower neck, the lower neck controls your shoulders down to your hands so first things first is to get your posture in order, I personally used my chiropractor to address this with a lot of yoga/form rolling stretches and massages.
When stretching in my experience whatever hurts needs to be stretched out, keep stretching the pain out you will piss off some tendons in the process but that's just a part of it, for my situation, put in around 50 hours of stretching my shoulder, my tricep tendons, my fore arms to my wrist, hands and fingers, it took a lot of work but I now have full function from my shoulder down, my hands were so bad I had no feeling of hot and cold now I'm 85% there.
There are supplements you can take to help the movement and inflammation to get your nerves and tendons gliding again, Magnesium is a good one, and topical DMSO(instant relief).
This guy can give you an understanding on what's going on with certain pains and how to treat them.
Not everyone, there are a few others that said what I said. As for the other recommendations, the suggestions are all over the place which is a good indication that it may be proven advise. Better to get medical advice from a professional than from a dirt bike forum, but it seems you think otherwise.
This thread comes a day or two after another Vital member posted on another board how his father had to stop playing the guitar because of arthritis in his fingers. He finally got a prescription for Methotrexate and now he is stumming it up again. Methotrexate is a old drug, now off-patent and very cheap. It was great to hear how it made a dramatic change in his life, but I wonder what took him so long.
There is such huge, unfounded, but growing distrust of physicians and science due to all the fake news being posted out there and the snake oil salesman are having a field day. I would worry just as much about putting all these supplements and nutraceuticals in my body as I would a prescription drug as the supplements and nutraceuticals dont face as strict standards for as an FDA approved prescription drug.
I didn't mean that someone "should get medical advice from a dirt bike forum" My viewpoint was soresammy asked a question, and others replied with what worked for them, You said uneasy rider had the "Only sensible quote in the thread" which (to me) came across as disagreeing and discounting the posts where other guys said they tried something and it worked for them. They didn't start a thread trying to push cbd or cherry juice or copper gloves, they just made a simple statement about what worked for them, why would they make that up ? I tried cbd oil, cbd cream, cbd gummies, magnesium, and the copper bracelet thing (not the glove) none of which worked for me, but that doesn't mean it hasn't worked for others, Your post came across as discounting others opinion, calling the remedies that worked for them "Snake oil" The cream I posted a picture of was prescribed by my ortho (the good one). Is that snake oil because it's cheap and not an expensive pill to swallow ? I wouldn't say I have a "distrust of physicians" but after 2 botched surgeries in my life I don't hold every doctor up on a pedestal, I'm more of a get a 2nd and 3rd opinion guy now. And I believe there are other things out there besides "Good drugs" prescribed by physicians who need to feed the big pharm money train. If someone says cbd works for them great, I'm not going to disagree with them. Anyway hope I don't sound too snarky but if someone says cbd or cherry juice or whatever else works for them, who am I to disagree ?
That's your opinion and that's fine, I'm of belief that nobody is deficient in pharmaceutical drugs, it's not unreasonable to treating the cause rather than treating symptoms, just my opinion.
I have severe osteoarthritis in my hand after two ligament reconstruction surgeries this is what my certified hand therapist recommends but she also said CBDs with THC has work for some of her patients also compression gloves everybody's different.
Arthrosis in the ac joint and bicep tendonitis same arm/ shoulder (old collar bone injury). Never hurt until one day at the gym back in March. Age 39...I'll live.
Pit Row
Yeah had it bad starting about 30years ago. Mountain biking in the days of primitive suspension.
Knuckles painful/inflamed/swollen. Couldn't get wedding ring on anymore.
YMMV but, Began taking 1 normal aspirin per day. With meal. No immediate effect but in about 6 months, realized 'hey my fingers don't hurt anymore'. Could get my ring on no problem. I still take baby aspirin for maintenance. 60yo now and problem is minimal.
Beware warning, if you are a bleeder, aspirin thins so watch out.
A couple things to point out.
Doctors work with the tools in their toolbox. Until the internet, where people could do research, those tools were mainly drugs and surgery. And as of the 1980's, out of 1000's of hours a doctor spent in school and in the books, only 4 hours was spent on nutrition. Seriously, 4 hours. Hopefully that's changed.
In my opinion, the majority do a great job with those tools, and are sincerely trying to help us get well.
But, they don't have every tool available, and they can't answer the question "How do I stay well?".
I'm far more into fixing the cause of a health issue, then treating the symptoms.
The tart cherry helps with gout. It did for me twice. Each time, it took about 3 weeks. It has something to do with your gallbladder, which is where gout originates. It dealt with the cause, not the symptom. This is a far better solution to me, than to using pain medicine as a first choice. If I can't fix the cause, whether through natural means, or through doctors, then yes, I'm all for treating the symptoms.
Drugs are loosely regulated. If you've ever read the clinical trials, and how the cherry pick what data and how to present it.
What is closely regulated is quality of manufacturing. What it says on the bottle is in it, is in it.
Supplements are not regulated in that manner. However, most all of the major supplement brands at this point are owned by pharmaceutical companies, so the lack of quality for name brand supplements is an old claim. 40 years ago, this was an issue. You had to be more careful.
The difference is that no one is going to get harmed by the side effects of tart cherry capsules, or the vast majority of supplements without taking mega-doses. People do get harmed by the side effects of drugs. Supplements, or homeopathic remedies can have side effects too, but they're in completely different leagues. To worry about supplements more than the side effects (or effects) of drugs is unreasonable.
I say go to the doctor and get checked for RA, and if at all possible, figure out what's causing the problem. Then ask what the options are, and do some of your own research.
Yes, there is snake oil out there. Unfortunately, some of it also has the FDA stamp of approval, only to be recalled once too many people are harmed or killed by them.
Doctors are great and to be respected, but they aren't gods and shouldn't be treated as such.
Crazy thing I recently found out is that Flomax has an effect on joint pain for me. I am over 50 was on Flomax for awhile. My joints hurt bad, especially my hand and fingers. I stopped Flomax b/c I forgot to get a refill and got busy with work and my joints started to feel better. I still have arthritis pain here and there but it is manageable with NSAIDS. The pain when on Flomax was almost debilitating at times.
I was diagnosed with RA, and came to realize that several other meds that I had been taking for years were likely masking the symptoms of it. I`m not fond of jumping on big pharma meds, but RA, which affects the extremities (fingers, wrists, feet...etc), can also cause pulmonary problems and other issues if left untreated. I tried Methotrexate and Leflunomide, but had to switch to Enbrel finally to get the symptoms under control. Diets can 100% decrease the flare ups, but much like gout, if left untreated will wreck your joints as you get older. If CBD or natural remedies help you, that's great, but some of us require much more aggressive treatment for relief. A blood test can tell you for certain if you have the antibodies for arthritis, and if not, pursue other avenues.
My 2 front brake fingers have arthritis. When it is flaring up I use Voltaren . Higher blood sugar seems affect it and make it flare.
All of the possible side effects, and the fact that you are to stop taking any other anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen, asprin, Tylenol, and any prescription) make it a hard "no thanks" from me. Read the information provided with the Voltaren.
Lol I did not stop my daily regiment of Advil and Aleve and somehow I survived
