Father’s Day is coming soon. Here are some pics of me and my kid. He rides just like his old man, I just hope he ends up faster.
let’s see yours!

Not the best pic, but it’s the only one I have in this phone! My Son & I riding together out at Robbie Reynards facility in Wellston Ok in 2013-ish on our white 2009 YZ’s! (Mine 450/his 250!) this was before he shipped out for military and subsequently injured horribly in a training accident at Fort Sill Okla… tore up from the floor up too! Dislocated ankle, torn Pcl & meniscus right knee, dislocated right hip, two broken ribs w/rib cage separated from sternum, 4 fractured vertebrae, orbital eye socket fracture, chipped teeth, bite the side of his tongue off and finally a violent concussion! He was medically retired and he has had four surgeries through the VA now…he mostly has his life back in order and is moving forward again but regrettably, his MX days are over and he can no longer ride Moto with me! We still enjoy some pavement riding these days, he has a KTM 390 adventure but he is SO busy with his own family now, we rarely get to go out…I sure miss those Dad/Son moto days gone by, he was my best ride buddy for 15 years or so!
Cherish those times with the kids fella’s! You’ll blink and they off to college, the military etc and Dad is left wondering WTFlip happened!!? 🥺 👍❗️
Thankfully he’s into it as much as I am, and watching him progress over the years has been pure enjoyment. He’s getting faster or I’m getting slower I’m not sure which but our time spent together riding is always special. Even the ride to and from the track is time we spend talking about not just riding, but life in general. Good times for sure, enjoy the ride 👍🏻

Forgot to add this to the original post…shows the progression from 3 years ago. I captioned this picture: ‘I’ll show you the way, I’ll lead for today, then I’ll follow you tomorrow…’
Not a pic, but I saw this before I had spent the weekend camping and riding with my boy and it really hit home to cherish the NOW
Awesome pics! I’m joining the club this August and will share updated pics in two or three years 😂
When the biggest competition in your country is your twin brother
Congrats Jesse! Awesome news👍🏻
Enjoying my last few months of being faster than him. I know once he's on an 85 he will have me covered.
Wait, why no shirt for the guy on the left ?
Great pics, wish my kids were into it, but they little interest in riding/racing, now my grandaughter might be another story, she's my garage pal, getting in the way taking off with my tools and a million questions, Love it!
Hey now, just because he’s fixing to pass you doesn’t mean you can just kick him off the track!
Awesome pics and thread!
“We'll get there, we’ll race ‘em when it’s time”
Son is 29, im 60, been riding together 20years and trying for another 20! Im so slow im actually getting better, sad lol. Lot more fun riding now, we just have fun as practice day heros

My son will buzz around a little here or there, but he loves working on bikes with me and coming to my races. Loves watching the pros and going to MX/SX races too. I figure I won’t push him to ride, but will have it available, and if he get the itch, he will have the opportunity. He’s a killer little baseball player and has a fleet of sweet RC cars that he’s amazing at - it’s just so much fun to watch him progress in the things he enjoys, even if many aren’t moto related.
Pit Row
Haha this is my last summer…he will be faster than me next year for sure. I love it.
Didn't get a photo, but at a recent ride day there was a father and son (15ish) ripping the enduro loop and mx tracks on matching 96 RMX250s. They were also taking turns ripping a 1975 kx 125. It was sick
Damn man, sorry to hear about your son's injury. The VA can suck to deal with at times but slowly they are improving.
I get a lot of smack talk coming out of my 13yo and how he can smoke me on the track now. The sad part is if/when I get back on the bike he is going to kick my ass and I know it lol. He can hold his on in A/B practice on a small wheel 85 and only getting faster. I cherish every minute we spend at the track together and know this time we have together is limited.
Thank you BBA!
I’m really enjoying this thread & seeing all of the pics of Dad’s and their little riding bud’s out moto’ing together! It SO reminds me of all the wonderful times I spent with my son! I very much enjoyed the riding, but the time together in the garage, the rides in the moto van to venues all around the midwest and all the other things that “moto” generated for us will always be the best of my memories!
And SERIOUSLY …. cherish every second you have with em because it passes in the blink of an eye! Hell it seems like just a week or two ago that I was teaching him to ride with a clutch on his 65 after moving from 50’s and now he is 30 with children of his own!!!
(And I got a grandson about to turn 1, I’m already watching for a deal on a 50! 🤪)
He has been through some really tough stuff with his service related injuries and being medically retired (against his wishes too!) He appealed the decision but told at appeal hearing it wasn’t a doctor’s decision, but a requirement that injury to the spine precludes an individual from continued service. He has gathered himself up, put himself back together and is making a happy life for himself and his little family and we are very proud of him!
And I would say that while we have heard many horror stories about the VA, so far he has not had any bad experiences with them! The care and treatment he has received during & since his injury has been top notch! We have been pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the how well he has been treated by the VA, but also know that individual results may vary!
We get out and enjoy some adventure style riding when we can and we are hoping/planning to do the Pa. BDR route this summer! 😎 👍❗️
Just Love having the family together
My fave picture. We are likely talking about bike settings and track conditions before he lines up. We've been doing this together since he was 5, and we are like a hand in a glove by this point. He's calm and ready. Trust. Plus he rips now too.
My son and I, his first trophy (started late) and my first win after taking 10 years off
PM sent.
My son on the top me on the bottom. Sorry for the poor quality but these are screen shots of a video of he and I riding together. He loves to rip the 125’s together, can’t wait for him to get back at it. It’s a long story but he didn’t have an interest in dirt bikes until he was in his 20’s, it’s been in front of him all his life but he was more focused on bmx. He’s gotten pretty good on a dirtbike pretty fast and on a 125 at that. He can ride it proper, keeps it singing. We did day in the dirt together a couple years ago. In the 2 stroke race we lined up on the last row and at the start we let everyone get to the second turn before we took off. We rode from start to finish together and even caught and passed a few people. Good Times for sure!
