What the hell are they doing and who decided it was necessary to check decibels after the race? What moran is behind this nonsense?
Probably Mx Sports. They have been making a lot of good decisions for motocross the past few years.
State owned land/OHV area. Remember it’s not like Glen Helen, RedBud and the rest.
They check them straight after the race so that the teams don't swap them out before the race.
Everyone has to pass sound at local races at Hangtown too.

I actually like it. Instead of crossing the line and immediately disappearing into their pits, we get to check their bikes a bit, Semi unobstructed view. Then see them walk around, assess their shape and check their kits.
If it was up to me, there would be a mandatory SUSTAINED wheelie action required AFTER the finish line or you don't get your points.
LOL.
Welcome back DC!
Then make them run up the hill to “cool down” and do a TV interview … what in the wild wild world of sports is this nonsense. Have the mechanic bring the bike down after the riders dismount behind the podium, it’s things like this you wonder what the bad ideas were they threw away to end up on this Grand Plan!
Typical over regulation to appease the neighbouring sedentary population.
Same crap that's shut down small, longstanding airports.
And ratray's practice track.
They don’t trust the teams that much that they can’t just do it at tech inspection? Really?
Doing it literally as they've just passed the line seems crazy 🤦
Almost all motorsports with sound testing, you do it prior to the race as CPR said, and if you win or podium and the vehicle needs additional inspection, fair enough but you're at least allowed to get off the track and get your shit together first.
Makes no sense after a race. I think they do the same thing in GP across the pond.
Raced Road to Mammoth last month and they never checked a single bike..guess the big show is different
Funny thing is in the drone shots there isn't a house around; just open miles of open ground.
I guess it has to do with modern electronics, you can change a lot of things on a bike by plugging it into a computer, sound testing after the finish line tries to avoid that.
MXGP also does the same.
The timing of it is horrible. Like someone said, let the rider get his shit together. Gotta be better processes to accomplish this.
Is that why they where doing it?? Asking because I kept wondering. Makes sense I especially being California
I'm pretty sure sound checks been a thing for a long time. Just haven't caught them doing it immediately after the bike comes of the track..
Maybe with jets they just wanted to test it was even running and not some smooth electric monster or something.. Could hardly hear him luggin the 450 around lol..
Do you get DQed if your muffler is damaged during a moto and you finish with a very loud bike?
Pit Row
This is not new, I have seen this done at a lot of events including supercross, sound regulations are in just about every rule book.
Same with testing fuel after a race.
I sure hope the downvotes you are getting here are in agreement with you.
It was stated etlier, it's an ohv state run recreational area; subject to the regs. It won't be long before the developments get closer to prairie city ohv. Better to comply, and keep it for as long as we can.
