Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
The bolt that holds the front number board on is nearly rounded off too.
So where is the other one? I always thought 85's came 2 per crate!
But really, some of the smaller models do.
That’s what I was thinking too
And furtermore, where is the tyvek cover of the crate goddamit!

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
BAT has revised the listing....But still.
Regardless of the other details, the seller says that he hasn't touched it since purchase. But then he says he added the husky tiedowns... I don't see any other crate strapping holding the bike, so did it just come loose in the crate? I don't think so. I certainly doubt any collector would cut factory or dealer crate strapping. Kind of makes me think the seller has found a crate himself and put the bike in it to increase value.
Rotor has some decent scoring from the brake pads.
Looks to me like the repo man paid the customer a visit because the dealer realized they weren't gonna get funded, bad paperwork or something. Maybe theft recovery. Honda lends their own money, no banks involved. And they've got plenty of it!
Notice the lack of bubble wrap.
This is the funnest thread ever!
The condition of the chain and countershaft sprocket tell the tale. That bike has been ridden for several miles, at least.
That crate looks just like the crates that kawaski used.
If i remember right the kx85 came whit wheels on , but there is a bracket from crate to handlebar mount.
I have seen straps used in crates , but all ways on pegs or frame
IMO that bike has more than a few hours on it. Under the plastics there is wear. There is a major difference in value between a brand new crated bike and a used one. There’s even a huge gap between a not ridden bike and a ridden one regardless of the crate. Someone who was in possession of that bike cleaned it up and put it in the crate to add value and lie to a buyer. If it was not the seller on bring a trailer, he definitely knew about it, has seen the bike up close and knows it’s flaws. He further admits to having other bikes in crates so he can’t claim he doesn’t see discrepancies. From his defensive responses he may be the one trying to get over on a buyer
The schmutz on the cases is a killa.
That doesn't happen in a ride around the lot.
Austrian bikes are held down with tie downs in wood crates
Looking at the job done on the cylinder nut, Cletus has had the cylinder off as well at some stage.
You are wrong. That cylinder was installed in the factory on Saki friday.
Man, I'd leave that bike alone. It's hard to tell how many hours are actually on it. Also, those CR85's are the worst 85 you can own. Unless you had one when younger and want wall art I'd pass on that thing.
Pit Row
Very surprised that bring a trailer has not removed his ad or the guys bid who spoke the truth on the bike
So many obvious signs this bike has been ridden.. and more than just a little bit. That amount of wear on the shifter does not happen in a few parking lot rips.
The needle gets me the most. Clearly someone swapped in the spare lean needle and you can even see the carb cap screws boogered up from when they did it.
Note the clever wording in the ad. It doesn’t say that it has never been removed from the crate, only that it has not been removed since purchased from the dealer. One of his comments says much the same.
This 2006 Honda CR85R was purchased as a leftover from a dealership in 2009 by the seller and has remained in its shipping crate since their acquisition.
Wouldn’t a “left over” be indicative of a new bike? Maybe “demo” would be more appropriate.
Exactly. It is well-established in the vehicle sales arena that "left-over" means a new, unused, unridden, never titled, registered or sold to a customer unit that still remains in dealer inventory when the following model year units are also in stock. They are being misleading by the continued use of the term left-over.
"Misrepresented" seems most accurate.
I still think the title of the listing is somewhat misleading. Although it no longer states the bike is "new", in the context of a dirt bike, "in crate", still implies that it's new and untouched.
Luckily it's evident from the comments that its not a new bike and its not even the original crate. There's a lot to be learned from the comments on Bat. If you're thinking of buying a used vehicle, even if you don't bid on Bat, its helpful to go read the comments of an auction for the model you're looking at.
Not even the right crate. Bike has obviously been ridden. Great bike for someone wanting a "new" 2006. But its not a "new in the crate" bike.
The little spring clamp that's supposed to hold the fuel line onto the petcock is dead center in the middle of the hose, oopsie
We should ask for a compression test 🤣
Noticed that.
Someone was clearly doing enough testing that they left it like that until they got it right, then forgot about it.
Been there.
No sir, you are wrong. Sake is spelled S-A-K-E.
Post a reply to: Big debate on bring a trailer about whether or not a "new in crate CR85R" is in fact "new in crate"
