Why the disdain for Jett

No option for haters gonna hate?

Maybe I’m wrong but I see very little if any disdain for Jett himself. Seems some people have grown tired of the constant media coverage he and his brother receive but I think that’s to be expected.

Should add a pole option “because of posters that make poll choices like those listed above”

You must be new to the Internet. It’s a wild and magical place that has a long and storied tradition of allowing people to express disdain and malcontent for no good reason.

I don't know a single person that doesn't like Jett, in fact most love the kid.  I think you are right.  Its the constant media suck off job that turns people off (and possibly some Jett fans that are a little over the top).  But Jett himself is great and I'm just not seeing the hate.  He's great for the sport similar to Stew, RC, Reed, Eli, RD, RV, Herlings, and a whole string of past great riders.

I tend to root for the underdog. I voted for " hes a teenager with hot chicks" however

Jorge and pops pretty much sum it up. Also, the problem is the interment, if you don’t root for the guy you must me a hater… 

I’m on the sexton train, why? Because he’s a tall rider, so am I. He’s from Illinois, so am I. He seems hard on on himself when he makes mistakes, so am I. His riding style is great in my opinion. Are those silly reasons to root for him? Maybe but I don’t care what others think. 
 

Jett is awesome and potentially one of the greats from what he has shown so far. I’m a fan of their family’s story for sure, but disdain for Jett?  No, some just happen to root for the other guy and his super fans can’t except that. 
 

What do you mean “hater”?

No one “hates” Jett. I think he attracts a lot of younger, sensitive fans who think a little criticism or a downvote causes their feelings to be hurt. 

I have no idea how anyone could not like him or his brother. That he is one of the most talented riders I’ve ever seen makes him even more likable. He’s not cocky, rude or annoying. He races clean and is as smooth as anyone I’ve ever seen. He seems to be loving life and I wish him nothing but the best. 
 

I just wish he’d lower the price of those donuts 

First it’s RC, then it’s RV, then it’s RD, then it’s ET, and now it’s Jett. Why do you feel like everyone has distain for all these great riders!? Move on dude and stop obsessing about everyone’s opinion! 

I think it's very hard not to like Jett. Just what you want in a superstar Mx rider .he seems very grounded. No big ego . And fun . I think people have a problem is when the super fans come out and say he will be as good as and win as much as RC . people either forget or weren't around to see RC . But untill Jett starts winning 450 title after title it's an insane comparison.  Imo outdoor s dunge /ET / RV were all fairly close . Then you had Reed who was the same speed as dunge/RV in 11.  Now go back and look at how far RC use to be ahead of Reed  , that's how insanely fast RC was .  I d put Jett to have the same career as RV/RD /ET /Reed . But imo the only one who could hang with RC was an out of Control stew and that was rare enough outdoor s .

The media over-saturation of both brothers is beyond ridiculous.    It's as if no one else is racing. 

Lol, those all seem like perfectly reasonable reasons for a rider to resonate with you. 

I also have a soft spot for the only Illinois guy in the field (that I know of)

I think it is a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts; the Lawrence's put a lot of effort into marketing themselves, they're both very strong racers, and it makes the promoters jobs easy to give them a ton of attention. The over saturation turns into fatigue for a lot of the die hard fans. Same thing is happening with Deegan. 

I think it's a nice switch up from the days of the rather milquetoast guys that give canned answers and don't really put themselves out there too much and a lot of other riders are taking notice, nearly every top guy is putting themselves out there more and more, with Bam TV, ACs new podcast, Pless embracing his yee-haw personality, etc etc. I think the Lawrence's and Deegans are leading the way and others are catching on. Overall a net positive for the future of the sport, in my opinion.

For me specifically its the overall Hype on the guy… yes he kicked the fields ass, yes it was very awesome.

but the superfans rub me the wrong way. I know a dude who’s been screaming 24/0 already.. and discredits all other riders even, RC’s titles and James outdoor speed and the fact those are the only two in history to go 24/0 so far. 

jett is really great, but this is the beginning to see what he really turns into. (The fans, have him on moto mt rushmore already, and he hasn't earned that yet)

Jett’s parents had to eat bad food so Jett and his brother could eat healthy food !

It’s because he speaks a foreign language!! 

I’m a bit bewildered by people saying they don’t see the disdain for Jett? It’s only been in these very pages for a couple of years.

The reasons: 1. The hype. 2. He’s not American. 3. The hype.

Because he’s not American.

This could not be further from the truth.  At the races that I've attended, Jett had some of the loudest cheers.  Americans love the Hunter brothers, and if there is any disdain, I suspect it is towards the Lawrence fans themselves and not towards Jett. 

Any time there is a next level rider, there are a certain subset of their fans that are intolerable.

I've already seen fans claiming he will break RC and McGrath's records, that he would have smoked Eli Tomac, etc.  When this happens, there seems to be an almost equally ridiculous counter effect where others will underplay Jett's talent or achievements.  But both groups tend to be in the minority, and if you attend a race you will see that the Hunter brothers are very popular.  Their talents on a bike are undeniable, and highly respected by Americans.
