I've a friend that, as they say " F**ked Around and Found Out", who didn't attend to US Citizenship requirements, and now she has great difficulty in even going back to the USA to see her US born children. She did nothing illegal, as such, but she didn't do what was required by the US authorities, over a Long period of time. It's a sad situation for her, but, She, basically, brought it on herself. I can freely go visit her extended family in the US, whenever I want, simply because I follow the rules and requirements of a Sovereign Nation - the USA.
I wish him well in his efforts to remain where he lives, and, has a family. The prospect of being separated from them must be horrendous. He needs to get stuck into the process, though, perhaps he's backed himself into a corner, and it's gone past the point of no return ( so to speak) , as my life long friend has done?

The process of applying for legal immigration is a nightmare and cannot be done without an honest Attorney. Furthermore, the cost invloved using a Attorney is huge and one still has no guarentee of a successful application.
I was in the middle of a application when Covid hit the USA. Managed to get out of Newark, NY on the very last flight to SA. Had I not got that flight out then I would have been stuck in our motohome in Albany.
I've given up due to funds and the grind of the process.
Jarryd should be ok in the long run given he is married to American lady. I don't know the history of his application but I hazard a guess that there is a snag somewhere which a good Attorney can sort out.
Jarryd also has a dollar income for Attorney fees which makes a huge difference.
