First post so just gonna dive in head first!
How good actually is Deegan’s performance this year?
Lets put a list together of riders to podium their rookie season in SX overall points, and we can see where he’s at. And I get theres been injuries and people who were injured at the start, but at the end of the day thats the sport, the most points at the end wins, no matter what! That what makes this sport so epic!
Note: intention isn’t just to jump on the bandwagon but to actually get a list together to compare names, get some perspective to the ones that went on to do something and the ones who never really made it.
What time does Deegan race?!
Earliest I can remember is maybe Tomac was in the top 3 his rookie SX year. That's been over 10 years ago.
he's good. your post isn't.
Thats why I brought it up, Im struggling to remember any in recent years and the results online would take ages to figure out unless you knew when everyone debuted

Well shit that’s pretty much exactly what I was looking for, cheers 🤣
Yeah nothing recent comes to mind. Lots of rookie wins and podiums but nothing really consistent. Multiple rookies to gather more than 1 win too their rookie year has happened as well.
Still blows my mind the path AC9's career has taken after his rookie season. Nothing is for sure in this sport.
Stats aside, audiences just know when something is different. Why is Deegan's entry into the Pro class gaining so much more hype than other riders who perhaps scored higher in their first season? Honestly I don't know, but it's something. The fact is, his entry into the pro ranks has been exciting and it's unique compared with others. I don't why, but it is what it is. There is a reason.
Didn't he race a couple of Out Doors last year? How well did he do there?
Because of social media
For sure, plus his family name and status don't hurt, though I appreciate that's the other side of the same coin.
Not taking anything away from him, he's fast and you can't get where he is without hard work and determination.
But saying "I don't know why the fans are so hyped..." is an insane take.
Reason? Youchoob...
You stole 1911's line....
Marketing is what it is. Brian is pretty good at it.

Go there. The first post answers your questions and the others add information.
He is a mediocrity in an elite group, or quite good compared to many other rookies.
Welcome to vital. This is a motocross discussion forum were motocross discussion is not allowed/frowned upon. Try complaining about the broadcast. That’ll get you some thumbs up lol.
Ironman: 34-24 for 31st overall.
Pala 2: 16-10 for 13th overall.
Pit Row
Almost won it. Lost to Tickle by a few points and there was a little bit of shenanigans going on in Vegas.
Yeah im feeling that haha, Been a pretty close follower of the sport for 10 years or so now so was hoping someone could share info on stuff before my time (which they did, cheers!)
seems you just mention his name and get hated on, dorks 😂
At the moment it's hard to judge as he's just growing into his own body at the moment but in SX sample I see him as a Barcia level talent not cream of the crop like RV/ET/Jett etc but that could change next year, I think he still is a better MX rider he should do well in outdoors.
I feel ppl forget so much shit when they are not a fan favourite etc.
Jo shimoda came 3rd in his first sx season.
Seth hammaker got 4th. But he had 1 race win and 3 podiums.
Nate thrasher had 2 wins in his rookie season he was only 18. His final points standing was down in about 7ths but he sat out the final 2 rounds so he wouldn't go over the points threshold that is now gone.
All three of those rookies doing a good as deegan since 2020 and no1 can remember it. Nate and Seth might not have finished top 3 but they both had wins. Deegans best finish is a 3rd. What is more impressive is of your own opinion.
But it's crazy ppl cannot remember this shit and all they can think of is deegan top 3 and jett lead a race and crashed.
I literally have a post stating multiple rookies with a win or multiple wins in their rookie year. I'm sorry you're so angry I forgot about Jo. I must not be a big enough fan of the sport.
YouTube , there has been amateurs a lot lot faster ( not saying he won’t get there he might he might not ) but social media us the difference 👍
With all due respect, your question is stupid as we can only speculate at this point...with that said, please can you ask the same question in 2032?
Edit. First post? Hahahaha...good one...
Thats the point, have some fun with it you bunch of narks. I didn’t realise it had already been brought up but that linked thread is exactly what i was trying to start. Fuck I bet you lot are great fun at parties 🤣🙄
Search Function is forum 101?
I got into motocross 20 years ago because I’m a Haiden Deegan fan
Good one! Spend all day on that one did ya?
🤦♂️🤣
A good first year is fine, but how he continues to learn and improve will be the more telling indicator of his potential.
