Life is precious...I'm sad, but thankful that his suffering is over.  He had such a hard life, and a lot of people in his family let him down.  May he RIP.....

Heartbreaking news! However, it does feel somewhat bittersweet. We raced the same areas around the same times. It hurt seeing and reading his posts at times. However, there is one thing that is not up for debate and will always remain true, James could ride a fucking motorcycle!

Thanks for the memories James Marshall!

I’m grew up racing with James. I would see him and his dad in their purple box van every weekend for years. I’m sorry to hear of his passing but I know his pain has ended. Godspeed JM

Damn this really sucks to hear. Godspeed brother, I hope you're up there burning laps and finally able to do what we love so much again.

Any news on what happened? I know he was dealing with some operations, think he had a sore that went really bad but seemed like things were looking up. We just lost Scottie a little over a year ago, hope it wasn't the same situation but either way we lost another brother and it's terrible. It's hard to explain to people what life in a chair is like and have them fully understand the physical and emotional/mental toll it takes.  Rest easy my friend.

Absolutely gutted.  James was a true friend and a good man. He will be missed by many.  Ride in peace, 452.  If anyone hears updates on funeral arrangements, please share.

Rest easy my man! Such a bad ass that many of us looked up to, even though we were the same age. Always remember in 04 when y’all came to visit me and ride in Florida, we were all getting ready to go out and party and you were like “I have to get in bed I have to be up early for my run” I was like wth? How could a guy not Wana go hang with a bunch of chicks??  Dude was so locked in the last couple years man, always wondered what could have been had San Diego not happened… 452✊🏻

This was a crazy but amazing story.

Outlaw, VMac Tracks (Vernon Mckiddie) and Jeff Dement all got Fresh RMZ250s in like 05 or 06, and they just got bikes for Maestro Suzuki. They were all shredding (with other local pros) during the week at the then Highlands Mx. James came ripping around a 180 right hander, I snagged a pro photographers camera (friend of mine sleeping at the wheel) and snagged this shot. It wasn't until he posted it that I realized he was looking over. At this time, This scrub was huge! I felt so badly I barely missed him outta focus but was proud through the years to get this shot. I literally became a better rider by watching slowmo of him cornering at local tracks, and when he was beating factory guys in heat races, it'd changed my perception of being a 5 year 80 beginner rider, to a pro license holder. He was an inspiration to all riders, parents, injured riders, Cancer patients; he served us all for 17 years after injury. That's incredible. Put him in the AMA Hall of Fame.

I haven’t talked to him in a while. But like some said, in a way likely for the best. It’s hard to say and see it some times. His suffering is over. Gotta look for the light sometimes.
