Coming back from injury and haven't rode in a few months, I have a 22 crf250r, and need to get the suspension set up , any recommendations for tuners experienced and good with this Showa stuff? Thanks
Graeme brough or FC is where I would go. FC will likely be very expensive
Graeme Brough you won’t regret your choice
Thanks guys, does anyone know how I get in contact with him?? I tried dming him on Instagram
FC. you'll have everything back is less than a week.

Who?
Talk to Johny at Art of War. He was the suspension guy at JGR and they ran Showa on the Suzukis.

She sounds hideous
But what is she wearing?
Showa Jake. You’re probably to young.
I had great luck with Race Tech on my 2022 KX450. I’m very happy with it.
I think I know who you're talking about. He works customer service at Race Tech these days.
Is his business still open? Dont hear much about people using his stuff. The guys at REP are great. Im sure they can get ya dialed in
He also has been to Showa Japan for testing as well. He is super knowledgeable and excellent at his trade.

Factory connection. I had them do my Honda 250. It’s awesome, get the linkage too.

Any suspension turner is only as good as the feedback you provide. Your base setup is important info; where are your clickers, what's your race and static sag, what's your riding style, and previous mods, etc. What's your skill level (honestly), what's keeping you from going faster (hard flat landings, shutter bumps, accel/braking bumps, whoops, turns, stability, etc), why (bottoming, harshness, etc), what end (front/rear/both) and when (single hits, multiple hits, corner entry/exit, on the gas/off, etc). It's never going to be perfect in all conditions as a bike you feel is "comfortable" (softer damping/springs) will not feel as "controllable" (heavier damping/springs) at speed. It's a compromise. So you gotta tell the tuner what's more important to YOU, comfort or control.
Only then can they evaluate your spring rates, whether the bikes jacking or packing and at what end, and the best strategy between base valving, mid valving, springs and oil level to eliminate the issue/s. If they know anything about fluid dynamics and what to tweak and how much, they should get you close.
Art of War gets my vote.
AHM Factory Services.
But I agree with Mark911, any reputable tuner is only going to be as good as the info you give them. I’ve seen and riden suspension from big name and reputable tuners that has been way off, because the owners perception of how and what they ride is different then what the suspension was tuned for.
Any recommendations on a good Showa tuner local to socal? I know there’s a lot.

Factory Connection all the way. I’ve always liked their stuff the most. They get it close and you tweak everything in. Easy to work with and they get the shit done quickly.
I'm in the middle of installing FC rebuilt suspension on my son's CR250R. They were great to work with, and I can't wait to get it broken in and dialed with him at the track in a few weeks. Considering all of the positive feedback, I'm sure we made the right choice.
Compared to the 2021, the 2022/2023 (I own both bikes) the forks are really not fun to ride. So much so I currently have 2021 stock suspension on the 2023 and really like it.
Whomever tested and approved the setting in what are essentially the same forks must own a suspension business...
In all seriousness, Factory Connection has gone as far as custom machining pistons for the fork. Maybe someone here has ridden that setup and can report back on it..
I just got my 2023 revalve back in the mail today and hope that I can put the 2021 stuff back on the 2021 machine.
Clicks suspension.
He's probably responsible for manufacturing of more forks/shocks then anyone mentioned. He worked with Paul Tuner, Mike McAndrews (founder of FC), Bob Fox, Steve Simmons etc... running R&D labs at various companies, Fox Shocks and Rock Shox etc... Knows more about this stuff from the ground up then pretty much anyone doing re-valve work. It will also be way less then FC.

Super expensive to swap over some shims.
I have had good luck with Precision Concepts on my KX450. I race AMA West Hare Scrambles, Open A and they nailed a pretty good setup on the first try. Only had to adjust the clickers very slightly. Great hold up, no deflection in rocks, and I can still charge big g-outs and singles to flat without worrying about blowing through the stroke or bottoming. Their team races the WORC's and NGPC series on kawi's with Showa suspension so they have tons of testing data.
