Well if he rides like he did at MoN, they better send it express, cause he'll be gone!!

MXoN is a special race. I'm not saying he won't be in front, but it won't be a walk in the park in my opinion. He also look very skinny right now. I'm waiting to see how he handles a 450 on 24 races.

This topic was clearly started by someone who didn't watch '22 outdoors. Tomac and Sexton raised the bar for speed. Lawrence can't ride a 450 that hard for 30 + 2 like they can. Definitely not right away.

Really?

I hope Jett does well. He's fun to watch, so smooth. It wouldn't surprise me if he wins, or just gets a couple overall wins. I just hope that everybody stays healthy for the entire season and the racing is good. Its been a rough couple weeks with injuries.

It was a joke.  Did you notice the year I put was 2026? I guess I have to work on my delivery. So many threads pop up with people predicting the future  for both of those riders when I keep saying the same thing. Give them a couple seasons( Jett some real time on the 450 and Deegan a season when he is under pressure and has to deal with the pressure of being expected to do well) before you claim they are going to be the next RC.

But with that said , more and more people that have seen Jett riding the 450 keep saying how fast he is on it. So who knows. I hope its try. It could be a really good season. Sucks Tomac  is out. Maybe Hearlings will be able to come over  and offer a plot twist. I doubt it though.

Yes somebody got it! I was trying to be funny and make a joke since there are always so many threads about these 2 guys being the next RC or whatever.

Not saying that its not possible for either of them to be the next RC. Just that it seems early to be making bold claims.

UpTite is not wrong.

I wouldn't say he easily beat Sexton in Open Free Practice.

Jett: 1:59.016
Sexton: 1:59.359
Time Difference: 0.343

He beat a retired Cairoli that admitted he wasn't on the same fitness training/riding program, so I don't think that says much.

I'm a fan, and I'm not discounting Jett because he has the skills to challenge for wins and the championship, but I'm not convinced it'll be the Sexton and Jett show all summer if Dylan shows up fit, and healthy.

Ferrandis won the Open Qualifying Race over both Sexton and Jett.

The results didn't show it, but he was also the fastest guy at the event. IMO, he shouldn't be left out of the conversation for wins and the championship. His starts were pretty good in 2021, and even if they're not up to par this summer, the field is looking thin to the point where any of the top guys who get bad starts should be able to move to the front fairly easily.

Either way, let's hope none of the remaining guys get hurt between SLC and the opener at Pala.

I’m with you on Dylan, but he’s had a lot of time off, and supposedly that concussion during SX was pretty bad. There’s still a chance that affects him during racing, like it did for Stew. We’ll have to see. I would think that he’ll start a little off the pace and build closer toward mid way in the season.

Maybe Dylan has an advantage not doing SX and he has been riding outdoors for longer and will be up to speed right away while the others are getting used to the outdoors? I hope he's OK and able to be 100% and race with whoever ends up outfront!   It suckedd to see him out of it last year and not really have a chance at defending his title. Hardly even got to ride with the #1.

Even James Stewart had to adjust to racing the big dogs after years of waxing the 125 class.

Kawasaki kind of let Stew down by not having a 450 ready when he moved up. I think his rookie season would have went a little better had he not had to ride that 250. He still won SX races but no MX overalls.

Given they are team mates, Have jett and Chase trained/ridden together on the 450s the last few weeks at all? And had a chance to suss each other out? Or are they doing seperate programs at seperate facilities?

Chase rides mostly with Ken at the moto sandbox, so pretty much on different programs, facilities.

Nobody has addressed the elephant in the room yet. If you're Honda and the championship is coming down to Jett and Chase there's no way you let Chase take another #1 plate to KTM, right?

Wonder if history would repeat itself:

From the vault:  In 1990 at Budds Creek, JMB showed up healthy, but was told to move over for Kiedrowski to help with points. JMB said, “No.” So Honda team manager Dave Arnold benched him for the day.

so because it happened in the past with a completely different manager/riders then it will happen again? I doubt it myself

Jett said that he is the same speed as hunter on the 250. But he beats him by about 18 seconds each moto on the 450. And he is a fair bit faster now on the 450.

Even go to 06 man. He only snagged 3 overalls. All 3 in which RC wadded. There is a learning curve in how to race guys that expect to beat you vs racing guys that are just hoping you make a mistake

It all depends on how you want to look at the actual statistics. James scored the most combined points of his career in SX and MX in 2006. Points wise this was his best season of his career. Also seemed to be one of the few seasons he actually stayed healthy for both MX and SX in the same year. He rarely did that.

Is Hunter riding the 450 also in these practice motos?

I recall Jett saying in the Denver post race presser he was ready to move on from the 250 and has increased his speed a fair bit since MXoN.

It’s definitely going to be a 3 way battle, with the dark horse being ac9. God if Hunter was in the 450 or would be a much better year.

I recall Jett saying in the Denver post race presser he was ready to move on from the 250 and has increased his speed a fair bit since MXoN.

No hunter is on the 250 still practising for outdoors. Jett is on the 450. So using hunter as the reference. Jett is saying he is 18seconds quicker in a moto on the 450 compared to the 250.
