For those of you who have watched the race or haven't watched it, Eli tore his achilleas, i think we just saw his last race ever. I am going to the first national and I went to the last round of outdoors last year and A1 this year, I will have never met eli. I haven't stopped crying for the last ten minutes. And i turned off the race with less than 3 minutes to go. This season went from amazing to absolutely terrible in two races. Hopefully he recovers well, but this was probably his last race ever.
We probably saw Eli's last race of his career.

You're crying?
Unfortunately you’re probably right, he’s been my favorite rider for the last 8 years and I hate to see it end like this. I had plans to watch him at the SMX Charlotte round guess that’s not happening.
No. AC is.
Yes. Sucks.

Nooo! I’m literally in shock over the last 2 rounds. Gutted to think I potentially just watched ET3 race for the last time. Webb and now this. Moto tragedy.
While I agree that this really really blows and I almost turned it off too, I hope you're crying because you stubbed your toe when you jumped off the couch or something...
Eli can (and may very well be) be done for good, by choice, and he's set for life. He will always be a great in the sport, and finally get to relax if that's the route he takes. He's an animal who has made more money than a dozen of us put together. He'll be ok and he's lucky it wasn't something worse..
Or he comes back and kicks everyone's ass.
If it was any of the other ‘older’ riders out there I’d say hang on a minute….but I’m afraid you might be right with Tomac. He already had one foot out the door when he got reeled back in. This could be the final nail in the coffin.
Don't be too hard on him. I despised RC because he was so dominant (Reed fan then) and when RC reitred I got surprisingly emotional...seriously. I guess it was from watching greatness before me. I aven't felt that way sense, even with guys I have liked like Dungey and now Tomac.
Eli will be on the line in 24.
Edit - I'm just being a optimist and I also think that Tomac will not want to retire like this.
Star has a offer on the table for 24 and it was looking good that Tomac would have excepted one more year.
I really believe we will see him next year.
This was coming down to an epic showdown in Salt Lake. So bummed for Tomac. Seemed like a no big deal section that ended his season and I too would not be surprised if he called it quits. Looking at the interwebs it looks like it can be anywhere from 4 to 9 months for a full recovery. Just a total shit show ending to this season.
probably not
I feel the same way. I wouldn’t blame him one bit if he called it quits. He seemed very calm about it. He’s accomplished enough. I’m amazed it didn’t cause him to crash.
Achilles is a BIG injury. Many athletes were never the same afterwards (Kobe Bryant as an example) and it takes at least a year to come back from.
Unfortunately I too think he's done. Im gutted. Not crying like chachi there but im sad.
what could have been too. Wow thats just too bad.
Just be glad you got to watch one of the greats of the sport in their prime with your own eyes. I didnt get to watch the 70’s or 80’s legends, but I got to watch mcgrath through the 90s then to carmichael, stew, and reed, then into dungey and rv, then now to tomac. I feel extremely greatful for having watched these guys race in person and on tv. Tomac is right up there with the greatest legends of the sport and we got to watch a legend in his prime.
wait google and couch doctors here before an official statement by himself.!
Tomac seemed to have such a laid back and really good attitude all season, I almost feel like he could be okay mentally with losing out on the title itself. I think it’s the bigger picture of how he may possibly retire and what going out with a title vs an injury would have done for him.
But the guy is already a legend and I hate to see him out of the championship and possibly retire from this, but he’s healthy he hasn’t destroyed his body nearly as much as some other guys. Torn Achilles tendon sucks but it’s not a life altering injury or a huge crash, hopefully he can see the blessings in that.
Done.
Go enjoy your money, wife, kids etc.....
Still a legend in the sport.
Broke JS7 SX win record, just in time.
I hate to see him retire this way, but you have to believe it is coming.
Pit Row
The statement came from Jeremy Coker...
Career ending might be a bit drastic at this stage
Didn’t we just get that?
Bummer... Tough injury for anybody to recover from.
Glad I saw Ironman and MXoN in person last year.
This may or may not be Eli's last race. I have no idea. I hope to see him back.
It's really smart how he handled the situation, keeping his leg up, to prevent additional harm.
I hope he races next year.
Whether he does or doesn't, it's been great to be a fan during his era.
Heal up well Eli!
this is my second season as a fan, glad i got to see him win the title last year at fox raceway, i still want to go this year but it won't be the same
I think the opposite. He had some close calls that could have been ended bad this year so I think he knows that it's is time to stop. His body probably start to asking for and probably his wife secretly as well. It's just normal after so many years at the top level. I will missing him bad but life goes on. Enjoy your familly life Eli and thanks for all those beast modes.
end of his career i don't think so
I thought Coker saying "ruptured Achilles" at the A Star medical rig was pretty official, hoping hes wrong but I said the same thing at the watch party I just left. That may have been Elis last race.
Sucks
I hope he rehabs well and can join world SX. Travel the world, have a good work life balance etc
Definitely not a career ending injury but could be when you’re already contemplating retiring
Maybe the time off will make him want to come back or realize he needs to retire. Either way Just happy it’s not a life altering injury
