Kinda hope it’s postponed. That’s the weekend I turn 60 and I’m hoping to do a private ride day at Washougal to celebrate.

Mammoth would be crazy difficult on snirt, though. I'd imagine 90% of the pack would pile up in that right-hander at the bottom of the downhill.

Snowy dirt. Snirt.

I read that in a 1980s-era MXA. Cool

EDIT: I raced in it once, too - at Sunrise in Adelanto. Snirt straight up SUCKS as far as I'm concerned! It's more slippery than mud, and cold AF.

We use that term in the winter when the snowmobile trails get bare and you get a mix Wink

I heard the same from a friend who’s son is racing it. Sounds like no final decision was made but they’re considering it

The later date will def affect the kids races since most schools are back by then

You can sign up when registration opens, but classes fill up quick.

Of course they’ll be skiing in June. Any avg year they go to at least July 4th. There’s nothing like racing mammoth MX and skiing in the same day. I’ve seen years with way less snow barely get it ready in time.  I def wouldn’t plan for the scheduled weekend but as pointed out you wont hear anything until after all the qualifiers are run. I miss the days of having to camp out on a pc to sign up within 30 mins before classes sell out or before that waiting to get the entry in cycle news to fax back. Even tho I won the very first AMA Mammoth championship plate in 2013 IMO the race has never been the same since the AMA and Monster took it over.

a few people pulling trailers down low ok the pits had to get some help getting out, because the mud/ soft dirt, but they really do a great job getting the water out.

we used to go up and ride the track a month or so before the race, before they started locking the gates. We even hit permission to turn on the valve and use the hoses to water the track. It was still beat up from previous years races, but it was great practice. I think they stopped that around ‘99 or 2000.

Those were the days!  We used to go up a week or 3 early to jet / fish. One year I pulled into the track about 1am. Took a backward lap in my truck up the downhill and parked it on the inside if the farthest turn rolled out went to sleep on the ground and woke up to an epic day of solo mammoth moto. Hoses were working - we thought we’d do that every year 😂

Actually, I’ve signed up twice in the last 6 years without doing any qualifiers, but the 50+ expert didn’t sell out when I signed up.

The old days of getting in by being first to sign up was a pain in the ass, I don’t miss that ! Lol

No doubt… I have some great memories of those days. Although I never thought of driving my truck on the track. Lol

That PC sign up was tricky. I used to post up at the exact second with 2 laptops and a desktop and signup multiple people. One year I wasn’t able to do everybody and my bro had to race 40 Int instead of 50 exp. The next year with The Rode To Mammoth qualifiers he double classed it and went up with the number 1 red plate and first gate pick for all his motos which helped because he pulled 4 holeshots on a 5 year old bike for both 50 exp and 40 Int. He found out it was much easier to double class the qualifiers than the actual event. He did it but was spread to thin to win either and gave up every holeshot

My mother in law was trying to reschedule her trip yesterday to watch my son and I race and she emailed info@mammoth or whatever the general info email is and that’s what they told her. We were at the qualifier at dt1 last weekend though and didn’t hear any firm dates so take it for what it is.

Traditionally the largest class, 250C, currently has only 62 qualified riders listed on the 2X website. I believe 80 is the cap and with only 2 RTM qualifiers left I doubt anyone actually needs to qualify this year.

If you get in come up on the hill and say hi, I'm one of the announcers.

I'm usually perched up there all week....it's awesome.

My dad would ski on the 4th of July in Mammoth like 30 years ago. Snow on the mountain this late in the year isn't unheard of

Well, today's practice at Hangtown was canceled due to the huge .25" of rain they got overnight. Sheesh. It was a little greasy at 0830 but heck that's what we ride in the PNW all the time.

I guess tomorrow we get a few laps to familiarize then drop the gate. Layout looks like a hold-over from last weekend's OTMX races - pretty basic and simple with no real risk. Conditions tomorrow should be outstanding with the light rain today.

on the brighter side Im staying a week in July with my whole family. Rather than hiking and mountain biking we can go snowboarding! crazy to think that when I booked last year.

Same here.  Was up a week ago and it was fun. Lots of snow.

I was watching the last snocross race of the season last weekend and the track got down to dirt in some areas. The announcer said the track conditions was a mix of snow/dirt and referred to it as snirt.

That is funny 😄
