Isn't Baker's Factory close to there also? I wonder if they will go after him next.
Tell Rattray to PM me and I'll help him shut down the illegals building homes for the Yankees.
In an earlier thread someone posted an aerial picture and baker’s and several other tracks were all in the same shot. Tyla only one targeted so far it appears. I think it said the fine was $25 a day when he was operating so I would have just kept it going. But I assume more involved than that.
I though Florida was all live and let live.

Used to be a pretty good place to live.
The “Villages” probably needs more land for pickle ball courts and line dancing. Really sad, hope Rattray can find a new spot.
Or, he could have followed the guide lines of his zoning permit and then not told the commissioners that "he could do what he wanted on his land" and violate the permit. He did this to himself. here is the story for the ones that don't read the story and then comment without having a clue what was going on.

Ending a year-long battle with Sumter County, the owner of a motor cross racing track at a Center Hill farm has agreed to cease all motor cross activity.
Tyla Rattray, a former professional motor cross racer from South Africa who trains other racers, has signed a stipulated temporary injunction requiring him to close down the private motor cross track on his property near County Road 702.
Before the injunction goes into effect, it must be approved by commissioners, who will take it up at their next regular meeting on Tuesday.
The injunction stipulates that Rattray pay $7,196 to the county, which includes daily fines, attorney’s fees of $5,460 and litigation costs of $564.

Daily fines of $25 for failing to comply with code enforcement orders total $625 after county officials agreed to waive $5,000 in fines.
The agreement came after County Attorney Jennifer Rey last month filed an emergency circuit court motion for the temporary injunction to halt the illegal racing and a hearing was scheduled last Thursday.
At a recent Sumter County workshop meeting, Commissioners Jeffery Bogue said he will support the stipulated temporary injunction even though he doesn’t like waiving the fines.
“These are the type of people who need to be fined,” he said. “It just rankles me that we allow people to thumb their noses at us.”
But other commissioners said waiving the fines is worth the price of stopping all motor cross activity, which has caused dust and noise problems for neighbors.
Rattray’s special use permit was revoked last May due to numerous violations. A special use permit request to reopen the track was denied in October after attorneys for both sides sparred at a county meeting.
Neighbors complained that the track continued to operate without the permit.
Rattray said the track was used by invitation only and limited to six riders at a time.
An enforcement order last fall gave Rattray until Dec. 26 to bring the farm into code compliance. The zoning special master found Rattray in violation after an inspection showed that daily motor cross racing continued.
Baker’s Factory, another motor cross track where professional driver’s train, is nearby.
How hard was just follow rules and track could have stayed open.
Sounds like it all started with the terms of his special use permit. What did it not allow that he did?

He did nothing to comply, and stated such.
Also stated he didn't have to follow their rules.
Like it or not, you should know your audience before you flip them off....
It's not by The Villages. We have a home there. His problem was his neighbors
I thought the same about my county until we tried to get a short term rental permit. It doesn't matter which team is in charge, they will get their cut of everybody's business
Remember when in the United States you could do what you wanted on your own property?!? Well, those days are long gone boys & girls and the power goes to those with the most bank to pay the local and state politicians.
What a waste of money to buy the land and build the tracks. Now that piece of land is useless
Look, I know we're all dirt bike people here...but...people can't just go buying property next to homes and starting businesses that are disrupting with no regard. Maybe for myself or you a training facility next door with ten to fifteen kids riding on it every day wouldn't be too bothersome. However, say your neighbor started a tuning car business on his property and was running a dyno all day with loud cars, that would probably be irritating.
I am surprised no one has blamed FELD yet.
So .. you'd be OK with your neighbor suddenly deciding to start operating a refuse landfill next door ? It's his own property ..
The inability to ever sell your own property because of that would be alright because, you know ; liberty !
I had a small track in my backyard mainly for myself neighbors constantly bitched. Cowards
Pit Row
you can do a lot with your property and get away with it if you're not a dumbass about it.
No his problem was not following the terms of his use permit. The neighbors didn’t like it, and that didn’t help his case, but this all falls back on his actions and failure to follow the rules.
Sth Africans are gunna Sth African
I hope the local kids rip all of the pussy neighbors’ yards apart until the end of time. I also hope a clan of wheelie boys takes residence next door
It's THEIR fucking property!! I'm sorry but I've witnessed too many farming neighbors of mine being hounded by the county and state for smell, noise, and all kind of constant bullshit from neighbors who have moved into a farming community because the crooked county commissioners which happen to all be realtors have extorted the land. I'm the neighbor that no one has to deal with as long as it's not on my property. If you buy a piece of property, then imo it is yours. The new anal American way is "it's ok for your neighbor to do whatever they want on their property as long as I say it's ok"!
The smaller your piece of land is and the closer other homeowners are, the more you need to be open to the idea of compromise. If you own a half-acre and decide to use it as a pig farm during the day and an all-night shooting range once the sun goes down, you won't get far by telling your neighbors, "It's MY fucking property."
Heard Anton Wass was interested in buying the property.
I grew up in a neighboring county (Lake County) in the 80's, and back then there was absolutely nothing in Sumter county. So it just blows my mind that they are bitching about an mx track way out there now. The Villages (which started out as Orange Blossom Gardens in Lady Lake back then) has grown to an unreal size. If a track isn't safe way out there then one isn't safe anywhere.
But his neighbors were the ones complaining and brought the county officials into it.. Actually both statements are correct.
Anyway, my point was that The Villages had nothing to do with it. People need to stop saying they shut him down.
It sounds like he's his own worst enemy.
Rattray obviously didn’t do what he was supposed to, but anyone else notice how they said racing was happening and that racing continued? Now is that just the article writer lacking knowledge of our sport or is that what the neighbors and county are trying to say?
Bummer you have a house there. Thanks for helping take away thousands of acres Florida natives will never get back.
Don’t worry! He just moved here and said he saw a little bit of rural Florida so we have nothing to worry about!
