Get in your car or on a plane and get your parts and engine back. Why the hell have you waited 2 years.

Ok well it worked for me so who is the stupid one ?

You live in El Cajon not Oregon, you’re 2.5 hours away. Not quite the same, so I would say you.

edit- cost wise may not be worth the money to travel to get the engine vs buying another one to replace it. Just so we’re on the same page.

Well you’re not in Europe.
it’s was 12 hours of my life to go and get my parts and engine.
it was that important to me.
so if you want your parts and engine I am telling you what you need to do.
mig you don’t take my advice then you will never get your shit back.
it is what it is and it sucks but that is 100% the reality of the situation.

or you can be with out your shit and continue to bitch here.

Listen bud, glad you went and got your shit back. All I’m saying is that you and this fella from Oregon are in two different situations. You live in this piece of shits backyard, he does not.

Ok bud, but if he wants his shit he is gonna have to make the effort to get or don’t .
complaining here after two years and not doing anything about it is foolish.
Cut your losses and move on or get off your ass and go get your shit. All I’m saying.

I seen the MXA article where they used him for a KtM 150 build off against 2 other engine builders. MXA even noted he had fallen on hard times and they were giving him a chance to redeem himself. Unfortunately what MXA failed to note was, the problem was never with magazines or high profile riders, it was/ is with the regular guys that read MXA ….and actually PAY for services….. so… thanks for fixing that MXA ….👌

In case you missed it that’s kinda what everyone in this post is doing, complaining about not getting their shit. Read the room.

I wanted to give you all an update,

Terry has made me whole, I received my $800 today from him, I spoke with him on the phone also,

He acknowledges what he has done and apologized for it, and gave me all of my money back.

He said he is trying to do right with everyone that has gotten burned. I know there’s a bunch of pissed off people on this message board but this is a step in the right direction for Varner motorsports and I hope he continues to make everyone hole.

I will be taking down my reviews of his business at this point

That's good he returned your things.   But here's my experience. He will always lie to you about progress etc. Give you a sob story. He...

That's good he returned your things.

But here's my experience. He will always lie to you about progress etc. Give you a sob story.

He actually called me within ten minutes of my motor arriving after TWO YEARS!  What did I think of it. Did I put it in the frame and ride it yet?

My guess is he knows just what he's doing returning something for a little good will.

He also asked me to take down any negative posts. I told him no way. As I feel everyone else should do.  I get the one guy was burned out dealing with him for a year. It's a huge frustration and time waster.

If he was a turning a new leaf. This thread would be over with.  Yet it's still going on.

"If he was a turning a new leaf. This thread would be over with.  Yet it's still going on."

This last line nails it.

I just looked at Varner's website...Updated this year as per the bottom of the "About" page and still advertising as open for business, yet here we still are reading this thread and new users coming saying their shit has been missing for years (YEARS!!!!) with no end in sight after being completely and deliberately ghosted.

If this jackass really was turning over a new leaf he should have at least contacted everybody now, but months after people saying "oh he's turned a corner", people still hearing crickets.

Ridiculous situation.

Someone go help this guy get his stuff back.

He's in Oregon and needs a hand.

If I was near there, I'd be on it.

Why does this industry seem to attract these types of c*ck gobblers? We had one down here in DFW that owned TH Racing. Found out he actually died a few years ago. But I met his head Tech about 10 years ago and told me the scoop about how the owner was a complete fraud and even showed me how they would twist and pull on the engine bolts with a T-handle wrench to make it look like they actually split the cases and did something to the motor. When in all actuality the motor left the same way it came in.

Would you just let Varner keep it and you chalk it up to experience?

I wouldn't.

Id be on a plane with a couple of 'heavy' mates. Id be coming back with my stuff and tools/goods to the value of my expenses to get out there.

It's not just this industry, but any motorsports and other mechanical "speciality" industries.  If Varner was a good businessman or solid planner, he would have a massive business similar to what XPR, Tom Morgan, Twisted Development, Pro Circuit, Race Tech etc etc.  Terry is clearly terrible at running a business and a thief at this point....not abnormal unfortunately, so do your research.

It's the equivalent to hiring a contractor for your home repairs or upgrades.  If they guy does not have a legit website, reviews, referrals, spotty on communication, and then shows up late in a Toyota Corolla with a ladder bungee corded to the roof.....you may want to find someone else.

A friend of mine got taken by them.  Paid around $4500 for TH Racing to build a couple of TC125 engines.  The "porting" in one looked like it was done with a chisel and the stuffing done by a blind 2 year old.  Charged him $500 per engine for ceramic bearing kits but when tore down both engines had stock bearings.  Both engines had bolts come loose within the first couple of hours.  The guy that ordered the work done didn't know anything about engine building, sadly.  I have pics of all there shitty work it took me hours to fix.............

Varner recieved engine and parts in september 2019 - the bike was set up to run the EMX 125cc class in 2020 but it is still unused in my garage..

He has your Mugen engine with a srs head yet , that’s messed up.  I ordered a few srs things including the head. Then the USA importer went out of buisness.

If it was an option for me to go down there I would. It's probably a 20 hour drive 1 way and I'm not currently able to drive and I rarely get more then 1 day a week off. I saw in earlier posts people who were close were offering to get people's stuff back. I figured it might be worth a couple hundred dollars for someone to go get it. I read multiple posts where people said he would not give people any problems when they showed up to get there stuff so I didn't think I'd be putting someone at risk.

Also, I wasn't complaining just sharing my experience. He told me he'd be able to get it in soon when other shops were saying 4-6 months before I could even send it in. He did the thing where he sent pictures of Alessi's YZ engine and another rc valve 250 engine and said that I would be stoked. And this was after he had me send back about $1000 worth of parts because he only wanted to use oem parts. I know I should've done more research but I had read multiple articles and people saying he was the best when it came to the honda RC valve engine and his quote was pretty reasonable.

He's going in the Midwest VMX Hall of Fame this year. Anybody missing engines can come visit him in Illinois.

From the Midwest VMX facebook page...

John Woody Graves

December 17, 2022

Good afternoon Everyone! We have a lot on our plate for announcements and plans for 2023 as I spoke of in the last post..

We are proud to announce the date for this year’s Midwest Vintage motocross/ Jack Morgan Hall Of Fame inductions, as September 23&24th at Byron Motosports Park ! This will be a reunion of all the past inductees.

We are proud to announce

The 2023 Hall of Fame inductees ….

The Professor Gary Bailey !

And the one and only Terry Varner!

We have a lot planned and will get the details as we go forward.. these two have a lot of history here in the Midwest, Terry is a native from Libertyville before taking his unbeatable engine building to the west coast..

And so many of us have had the pleasure (and sore fingers) of taking the Gary Bailey Motocross schools at Byron, Lake Geneva.. and more!

We are hoping to have Friday night (the 22nd ) to have a bench racing / stories session as we get this done… there’s so much to hear and ask about.. This is another one of those opportunities of a lifetime..

One that happens once in a great while..

Plan on being a part of it! I’d love nothing more than to fill Motosports park to the brim with the best people in the world .. and celebrate all the great people who made the Midwest what it is..

More and more to come!!

Thanks for your support, Woody&Birgit — with Birgit Graves.

Allot of people from all over the PNW drive down to Glen Helen for different races. Maybe ask around at local tracks whos making the trip and arrange for them to get your stuff. This is a terrible thing this guy is doing. Some of my older bikes are like family members. Id lose my shit if something like this happened to me. He must be the luckiest guy to somehow avoid fucking over the wrong guy.

You talking about the fat mouth idiot that thought his 65 rider was going to be a factory rider ? 🤣

Man, I've been biting my lip.

MB, you already know how much shit I had to deal with him.

The thing I tried at VC is, you can be cool, and whatever, but the guy at the finish line, who IS race control decides.

Probably made fans and enemies that way, but we don't have 10 people like SCCA where I learned my trade, but after 15 years of success, I'd say I did OK.
