Plain and simple, the dude is a legit badass.  I found it partly interesting that he seemed ever so slightly still interested in racing (albeit very slightly haha).

Possibly the best father-son duo in US history...

IMO Josh is the better rider, but Donnie was the better racer.

Hanny has one of the most unique styles in the game. I know there are tons of coulda woulda shouldas but damn could he have racked up some titles if he applied himself earlier in his career. So cool to see him out there being productive and enjoying himself.

That Husky just doesnt have same flow like Honda. He looked so much better on Honda but that is still dream job.

hearing him talk about his youth when he was on flight plan with Jett was crazy. you could see the anger in him talking about what he could achieve if he didn't get caught up in the party and money.

Dude looks soo good on the bike, best style in the modern era imo. Elegant flow, maybe it has something to do with his height? Isn't he like 6'2"?
Has the skills for sure.

Very cool. I have always been a fan of JH. Such good, unique, flowy style. The guy just has so much natural talent on a bike. Kind of funny to say but I agree with everyone in that he did seem to look better on the Honda. But that being said, I think it's cool that he has that role with Husky.

And I believe I read his grandfather (maternal?) was Preston Petty. Before he became famous for his plastic fenders Preston was a super-fast dude in his own right, as well as a factory test rider.

Add him to the list with JLaw, Stroupe, and Izzi of guys with boat loads of talent but not mature enough to handle the success/fame/money etc.

I don’t think he was distracted by the same thing as those guys were 😳

If you ask a kid to draw a fast car, they will draw a red one. That and the ergos on the Honda make everyone look their best.

What is cool is you can tell Hanny still loves to ride. That and the fact that he’s a single father that appears to put in the work to be a good dad, respect.

Josh at 15 raced a yz125 at the Milwaukee AX in the pro class.   He crashed super hard on the 2nd double. It’s on yt.

The partying was in part of a escape . Of being super talented but not being able to handle the pressure of being in the lead with the pack rt on you.  That’s what I saw in 05 on the Ktm at Indy. Pulls a big holeshot on the most powerful bike pulls a small lead. But the pack is rt on him. He couldn’t get away the pack caught him. He looked Super smooth tho.  He cut to the inside on the flat b4 the big double then triple. Washed the front end out. Davi goes on to a easy win.

While your point about him not reaching his potential is true, he is NOT on the same list as the others you mentioned.

Listen to any podcast he's done, he owns up to all the mistakes he's made along the way. He's had his dirty moments on the track, but off the track he's always been a quality dude.

I grew up racing him, he was one of THE cool kids obviously, while I definitely wasn't...but he always had the time to just be a normal kid at the track and would hang out with anyone.

His dad is in that same category.

I'm not comparing their off the track issues in terms of drug abuse, stealing etc. I'm just saying all of them had tons of natural talent that never got put to good use and that's sad.
