Why do so many of you want this to fail so hard? It's sad. 99% of people in this thread don't have a deposit on one...

Why do so many of you want this to fail so hard? It's sad. 99% of people in this thread don't have a deposit on one so why does it matter to you? Does it give you that much of a boner to try and make people feel bad about maybe losing a 100-dollar deposit?

Honestly it's just a example of the general sentiment in this country, "I don't like it so you can't have it".  I don't really like four strokes, I'm a two stroke and electric guy, but you don't see me going into every new 450 thread spewing bullshit about how I hate four strokes and I wish they would all blow up and Honda is a scam and blah blah blah.  It's just weird behavior that people used to grow out of during childhood, but there are now way too many grown ass adults that just can't stay in their own lane and let other people have their fun.  I don't know what the deal is but we can't all operate in that headspace or it's going to be a really miserable existence.

It's becoming clear that Stark is delaying any talk of range and battery life as long as they can because they cannot meet expectations. I suspect they had lofty goals of developing a solution before the bike was released, but time has run out. Dangerous game they are playing. The similarities to Theranos cannot be ignored.

This is just off-base. People here have very legitimate concerns with this company. If it looks like a duck......

Pretty shallow take.
nobody ever tried to say two strokes have to stop being made and that we’re going to force convert everything in the next seven years. That’s the problem. Your statement is beyond apples to oranges.

This thread is going on because of two reasons. Some people are really concerned with the promise/delivery of the bike and its abilities. Some people are very concerned about the forced hyper-speed transition into a technology that we have little to no knowledge or control over being pseudo mandated to us.

What the hell does a smart fridge have to do with an electric dirtbike?  Do you honestly think Anton is just part of some massive ESG driven global conspiracy to take away your gas bikes and force you to be a vegan?  I don't understand the mental gymnastics you're going through to draw that conclusion, the guy has a history of success and I don't see Stark as anything more than that, a business venture.  I don't understand how it's so hard to grasp the difference between a private company offering an innovative product and the government pushing an ESG agenda, last time I checked there weren't any government rebates on a Stark. . .

Shallow,  WTF are you typing on and/or holding in your hand.  Were you this adamant against the digitals  when ma Bell yanked your rotary and only offered buttons?

People also feared the Apple iPhone just a decade and a half ago and look at you now lighting up the internets up with the “digitals are coming for you” but you sure as hell can’t keep your peter tongs off the keyboard.

Like I said. Humans!

It has to do with Chad lying and all the fan boys spewing his lies as facts.

How many times do you guys want me to type it out?

Why does that even bother you?

And why doesn’t it bother you when some fanboy is spewing out the „fact“ that the new RMZ is right around the corner?

Once again, this thread is absolutely unhinged. It’s a bike with a battery in it, chill out. We won’t really know the battery life until it hits our soil and people ride it. Is it encouraging Stark only shows it on a hard pack track? No. But let’s put away the conspiracy theories and just wait until the bike arrives.

There's nothing unhinged about the doubt expressed here

Stark has made mighty claims about their bike being the best MXer ever.

Big claims need to be backed by good evidence and there is none. They need to show a production bike at pro speed for 30 plus 2, and better with a restart and a sight lap. Do that and the scepticism vaporises.

Valid skepticism is warranted concerning refrigerators , sure they masquerade as just for keeping food & drinks cool & fresh, but deep down those appliances aspire for more.

They desire control .. & are not to be trusted.

Ignore them at your own peril

Which is why I find it so curious that you'd want to join that scaredy-cat dude by curling up into a fetal position and huddling with him in a corner. Surely you don't actually think the E-Motocross bike storm will blow over and your ICE-bike kingdom will be restored, do you? If you do, well that's just sad. It ain't happening, bud. To believe that is to believe that snake wouldn't have bitten you if given the chance.

Allow me to clarify my point. As a private track owner who successfully beat back lawsuits by both the E.P.A. and F.E.M.A., I can tell you, by way of actual experience rather than biased opinion, that the Feds give you two options: give an inch, or lose a mile. I gave an inch, and my track survived their assault. Two other private track owners a few minutes away from me didn't budge, and that gave the Feds the opportunity they needed, and they ruined both of them. Bankrupt, tracks gone, broke, busted, helpless, hopeless, penniless. And the bureaucrat that did it to them got promoted, which is exactly what she was seeking when she filed her lawsuits against us in the first place. They're coming for us all, yes, hell I had giant, black, sonar-equipped government  planes circling my property surveilling the piss out of it, for Christ's sake. it was terrifying, yes, but they only win if you give them the OPPORTUNITY, and this confoundingly stupid-ass hope you have that the Varg will fail offers you nothing but the potential for a Pyrrhic Victory.

So then, all you dumbshits reading this need to start your re-education by looking up two things: (1.) Pyrrhic Victory. (2.) the Sackett v. E.P.A. court case. That Supreme Court case is easily the most informative thing you'll ever read about the utterly cutthroat, unflinchingly vicious, nature of our opponent, Uncle Sam. I know the case's particulars by heart, and so should you.

NEXT: I once had to console one of my best friends after someone had just died in his arms. A man had passed on after his bike hit a false neutral on a jump face on a track my friend had just finished building minutes before. He was almost inconsolable. So then, forgive me if I don't share a conviction that the Varg having no gearbox and thus no potential for false neutrals makes it sacrilegious.

NEXT: I once waited for what seemed like forever for a LifeFlight to arrive and carry off a lovely, gifted young racer with multiple internals injuries and broken bones, including a compounded femur that was sticking right out of his pants and into the fresh air, after his top-end seized on a different jump face. So then, forgive me here as well, if I don't share a conviction that the Varg not having a piston to seize ALSO makes it sacrilegious. Never saw that kid again, by the way, as his riding days were done.

NEXT: As someone who has owned his own tracks for decades now, I have naturally met other track owners as well, for it's something of a club. Most guys had private tracks like me, but some some had public ones, and you lilly-fingered keyboard-typing dipshits have NO IDEA the physical and financial struggle they go through to keep this sport alive. It's not like we private owners have it easy, god knows, I probably spend 40 hours working on my track for every fifteen minutes I spend riding it, but we've got it easy COMPARED TO THEM. Of all the owners I've known, maybe one out of five is still in business, with the vast, vast majority of them having lost their tracks due to noise complaints. This horrific, extinction-level noise pollution crisis is a GLOBAL one, governments everywhere are using it as their preferred weapon of choice in shutting down tracks and bankrupting track owners. It's like a knife to them, and your opposition to anything E-related is like a file they get to use to hone that knife to a razor's edge. So once more, forgive me if I don't share your tendency toward genuflection at the sound of a poorly-muffled 450, for I see it for what it is: an assassin coming to kill off something I've loved since I was a little kid. Let there be no doubt here, the Stark Varg is, at least for now, our only counter-assassin.

NEXT: The battery. E-bike technology is the only real hope the sport of motocross has for long-term survival, for reasons I just wrote about (fewer catastrophic injuries, elimination of noise issues) so one more time, forgive me if I appear apathetic about whether the Varg will handle a 30-minute mudder or a 30-plus-2 sand track romp or a dessert run or a GNCC. With all due respect, I don't give a rat's ass about anything but whether it will work on an average motocross loop on an average day for an average rider - and we already know it will, with ease. The only other option we have is more of what we're getting right now, which is fewer and fewer tracks in operation, so don't be a "uselful idiot" (look it up) and make the perfect the enemy of the good.

LAST: If I'm to be candid here, I should mention that I'm playing with house money. Between myself and two good friends, we own a total of 400 acres up here, with almost 100 of them waterfront. There's two tracks now and another in progress, so I have zero fear of not having a place to ride whatever the hell I choose to, whenever the hell I want to. I also have a sports car collection in my barn that's begun to ask for more of my attention, and because I'm 62, slowly switching my hobby over to car racing seems to have gained a little momentum. We'll see. So no, none of this will affect me directly. My dog in the hunt is a newborn kid out there somewhere who will one day hope to be a great motocross racer, because a million years ago I had a Z50 that I rode all-day-every-day in the field next to my house hoping to one day be like Ake Jonsson on his Maico. Plain and simple, I'll be damned if I'll stay silent while that newborn kid's future opportunity to find joy riding in the field next to his house is mindlessly fucked with by all you feckless, conspiracy-theorist, morons.

Yeah, you know who you are.

Red bellied waterbsnakes are not water moccasins and not venemous. The flat pattern and small head on that snake make me think it's not a water moccasin.

Plus if he's in Ohio, water moccasins don't live anywhere near there (if he's actually in Sandusky, no venemous snakes whatsoever.)

This is a water moccasin, walked past 20+ that day. Don't step on them and you're fine. Or I guess ride over them on a Varg. There, now we're on topic.

Ok, now that we've covered snake ID, where will page 50 end up? Differentiating mountain lion/coyote tracks? Spaghetti recipes? Upright weld techniques?

If I'm doing a plain vertical fillet of any type, I always have the best results hopping straight over the gap and letting the metal fill in on it's own. Whenever I spend too much time in the center i end up with a big belly and poor penetration.

Anyways, if you all cannot draw parallels between government overstep and electrification, enjoy your next 20 years is all I'll say lol. Especially you californians. The fridge meme is just for laughs. No need to be so rigid.

He's not from Ohio, hes from the south.

Most non-venomous snakes are more aggressive than venomous ones, usually they hide back. The thing is alot of venomous snakes like to establish a den and stay there forever. If that den is in an area where people normally travel it's real easy to step on them and get a bite their camoflage is amazing. Best relocation technique involves a big rock. That being said, the more aggressive non-venomous snakes will usually drive the venomous ones out of the area. If a snake has a small straight head let it be.

Big claims need to be backed by good evidence and there is none. They need to show a production bike at pro speed for 30 plus 2, and better with a restart and a sight lap. Do that and the scepticism vaporises.

People are talking about refrigerators spying on them on behalf of the government

If you recall, the idea that your Alexa/Ring Camera/Phone/TV was "spying" on you was considered a baseless conspiracy theory some years ago.  Now it's accepted as fact.  Why is it hard to believe that a Samsung smart refrigerator doesn't have the same functionality as one of their TVs?  On its face, that meme is pretty far-fetched, but it is closer to reality than most would want to believe.

With regards to the Stark, I'm still optimistic that they can put out a decent bike.  As I said before, I'd consider it a success if it is more "Alta 2.0" than their claims of being this century's CR250M.  Over promise and under deliver is kind of the name of the game in the mobility startup world, and Stark is right in line with the other companies (for better or for worse).

Ok, now that we've covered snake ID, where will page 50 end up? Differentiating mountain lion/coyote tracks? Spaghetti recipes? Upright weld techniques?

The logical next step is debating the kWh per waterwheel turn vs. the backyard crude distillation column's bpd output to see which makes one more free.

No need to be so rigid.

lol what a fine bunch of banned users.

It's so weird that people find enjoyment in getting banned and creating username after username on a small niche motocross forum just so they can post weird shit. It's pretty damn sad.

This is a water moccasin, walked past 20+ that day. Don't step on them and you're fine. Or I guess ride over them on a Varg. There, now we're on topic.

It is crazy how well camouflaged they can be, that same area I almost stepped on a baby water moccasin in a leaf pile, took a picture of it, and still had a hard time finding it in the picture. Another time I saw a copperhead bedded down in some grass next to a rock outcropping, went to get a closer look at it (in spite of my fiance telling me to stay back) and while looking at the one snake I saw, I saw a northern water snake and 3 more copperheads within 5 feet of me. I slooowly backtracked my ass out of there.

So how long til we actually get to find out how long a Varg will last? Should I order one direct or wait til they get to dealers, will there be a dealer markup?

We call them water moccasins. The correct name is cottonmouth.

From the photo it looks like what we call a chicken snake.

For what it's worth I've been bit by a chicken snake.

Thing was hiding under a pallet of bricks ten feet away from a deck I'm building. If the neighbors didn't have a blind dog that walks in the yard I would have left him alone.

This is what a DeWalt battery did to my parents garage last night.
