Anybody have any updates of the riders involved in the open Pro start crash? it was one of the worst I've seen! Absolutely brutal!

From MXA:

”Unfortunately in the first moto there was a bad crash off the long Glen Helen start with many riders getting hurt. The red flag came out and they had to restart the event. Two of the riders were MXA’s, Josh Mosiman and Brian Medeiros. Josh is sore and decided not to race, but Brian dislocated his hip.”

I believe op is talking about the last lap crash on the hill in the open pro. I sure hope the rider is going to be ok.

I was apart of that happened so fast. Had nowhere to go and ran over Brian hard at tail end of crash. Feel horrible but it's part of the sport I hate. First time lineing back up behind a gate in 14 years right to big pile up. Wishing everyone a speedy recovery especially Brian its no one's fault but as a human have to say I'm sorry!

I saw it in the video but had no idea who that was. Were you able to stay up on 2 wheels? Definitely nothing you could have done about that one dude.

100% nothing you could do I watched it all happen it was like a light switch racing incident hope everybody has a speedy recovery! My kid hasn't raced in 4 years he decided to run my 150 in the Pasha Pro class instead of open Pro that spooked him and I'm sure a lot of people!

I missed the part where the op said the "start"!  My bad on that one.  There was also a nasty crash towards the end of the race, and because I only glanced at the post, I thought that's what they were talking about.  Sorry.

So Mosiman just kind of fell off his bike and knocked everyone into each other?

Here is the one that I was involved in (okay, more like started) in the Pasha +50 125 Pro Class. Sorry to all that got caught up in my mistake…

Healing up more day by day and lucky to come away without major league injuries. Some cuts, stitches, sprained joints, bruises and sore parts, but again very lucky and grateful that I will race again.

Shout out to MX Pol who shot this video and was collected in the mayhem, I hope that you are doing okay.

That was another brutal one!!! Alot of carnage off the start that day.. I have raced gh since I was a little kid and I can't remember that many pile ups off the start.  In early 2000s I was in a good one at a 4 stroke national there but none like the 2 stroke race.  Glad you ok nic been long time it's Shane smith by the way.

Great to hear your healing up Nick. That was a bad one. I scrolled it in slow mo. You had a great start going 3rd & had the inside on Brown & 126. It must hv been rough your back end started jumping to the side & didn’t settle down.  Strange & bad crashes with riders hitting & 1 goes  flying a long distance. You guys are in 6th wo correct ?  .

Me too buddy, (41) 125's started this race and I only got run over by a couple of them. That is my glass half full response! My poor bike also took a beating and is still in pieces.

Crazy and big wrecks on this day as the ambulance was super busy, multiple broken femurs in different crashes and I am just blessed that mine stayed together. I did get my femur filleted a bit from a footpeg that nearly took my pants completely off and more than two weeks later I still have yellow bruising from my ankle to my hip on the left side, nearly looked like I had Jaundice. This is finally starting to go away, the swelling is subsiding, and the movement is getting better every day.

As for the crash, I swore when I was in the ambulance that I was struck from behind and that caused me to swap but after looking at the video frame by frame I was able to see that my front end hit a buried rock and tucked causing the swap. The start straight was supper soft and deep from all of the sand and dirt washing down from the mountainsides with the crazy rains that we had the few weeks/months prior. The prep also seemed to remove some of the inside of the corner which looked to now be a bit more narrow with a much steeper incline on the inside compared to the outside of the first corner, along with some decent breaking bumps.

Sweet to see you riding again Shane, the bike looked and sounded great ripping up the hills of GH. Glad that you were able to get back up and ride, even though it is not a fun way to come back to racing, it is great to see you riding! Take care and I hope to see you around at another event soon.
