Those tubes are a common thing in the bicycle work when not going/using tubeless (BMX, MTB, Road, etc.). Tubolito and Schwalbe are a few who produce them.
I remember coming across the company/bike and their website before they made their announcement.
The first Stark Future thread was made in December 2021:

Yea I put a deposit down on December the 14th, a day or 2 after I seen the bike on Facebook. I believe he got in before anything got to Facebook.
Cool, they have had a bit of data to prove they work then. 👍

@BCE wrote in the first Stark thread:
Wow very cool.
But I think the range is slightly exaggerated.
The battery is 6kWh.
I have an ALTA with 5.8kWh battery.
And i get only 20 minutes of MX riding and around 1 hour on the trail.
And I am nowhere near pro speed.
So to get 6 hours on the trail is probably at snail pace.
I haven't kept up with everything. Does anyone know if Stark is still holding on to their original claims?
-Charging Time: 1-2 hours depending on outlet and charger.
-Riding Time: Up to 6 hours at easy trail riding pace or 1 full MX moto at full race pace.
-Estimated Delivery: 2022-09-24
We know the last one is out the window.
Estimated delivery for new orders: 17 Oct 2024
You were on the shitter?
Beach races sometimes have a duty cycle like that, so will a deep, summer mudder.
ICE bikes are Dyno tested at full load, full power, over their race rev range on automated dynos for hours as part of durability testing. EVs with small batteries and powerful motors need very good control strategies to keep temperature under control and that means power has to be severely limited.
Even if the bike turns out somewhat decent, these guys are setting themselves up for failure with the relentless extreme hype. You are supposed to under promise and over deliver. Stark has basically promised perfection...........with no deliveries.
And I'm literally tired of hearing about this greatest bike of all time that doesn't exist. Just hang the turtleneck in the back of the closet, shut the fuck up and get the bike done.
But not for a simple plastic energizer bike
Bryan is likely getting a free bike for his relentless ass kissing
Are you buying it for me?
Just a side note : 2 nights ago, I had the TV on in my workshop, and a series about Elon Musk was on.
In between weld passes, I looked over and the then head of marketing ( I think he was previously one of the heads at either Microsoft or Apple, but had retired previous to going to Tesla), was talking over a variety of Tesla Displays / Promo events.
Well, he came out with what he, and his promo workers would say / ask of prospective buyers.
" If you pay $5000 today, you'll get your car in a couple of years. Or, if you pay, today, $40,000, you'll be in the first 1000 that get a car, in a couple of years".
And, apparently, they had a Lot of deposits made.
Makes the $100 deposit for the Stark Varg seem piddly, doesn't it?
For a fair few people waiting on a Varg, it may be close to a "couple of years", especially if you were a late depositer. It would be a bummer, but, if people thought , in these times, that there would not be substantial delays in production, well, they weren't aware of the fraught conditions for all manufacturers / suppliers.
But, I really do think Stark Varg could have / should have done a much better job of communicating the reasons for the delays.
They've given so much amunition to the haters, and, probably, much distress to those who have them on order.
Heck, I've got a few friends still waiting on various cars they ordered well over a year ago. And, some of them will not / cannot be delivered to the specs they have ordered and paid for. And a few will still be waiting on delivery for quite some time, yet. And these are cars that have been in series production for quite a few years - they are not completely new designs.
As I wrote earlier, it is certainly a bummer for those awaiting their Vargs, and, some will back out of their order, for whatever reasons, but, I am eagerly waiting to get a ride on some mates Vargs they have ordered.
And, I await the Big manufacturers response to the Vargs, that Will be coming.
My elecric lawnmover just did two motos at Lommel but it was mud and uphill both ways. It´s a Huusqvarna.
Nice try, but it wasn't the pro track.
I have built 5 to 6 houses before Stark has delivered a single bike, and I'm just a fuckin hippie.
Husqvarna is just a scam company that no ones knows anything about except that they take money for E-lawnmowers that can't go downhill at Lommel. Everybody knows that.
Well then, maybe you should build an electric motocross bike and show them how it's done? All kidding aside, those are beautiful houses, they really are. From one hippie to another - well played, sir, well played indeed.
Hippies RULE!!!
Nice looking homes.
Pit Row
Just ripped a moto on my Alta MXR for the first time after riding the Varg in Barcelona last week and.... damn, my MXR feels sort of slow now
. The Varg has so much more torque and HP. MXR feels like a 250f in comparison to the Varg now haha.
From what I remember on the Alta owners forum you run quite a tall gearing on your MXR.
Don't you think that mellows the bike a lot?
Or are you sure its that much better?
And what about the range? Did you had the change to drain a full battery completly?
the big mfg response to stark may be... none at all. If they dont compete, and strongarm the AMA into not allowing e bikes, why would they even bother? There's no need to build rides if there's no circus. Just one avenue this could travel.
Yeah, someone at Pala today passed me on what sounded like a bicycle
Pit Bierer rang the bell for the majors.
None of them will have a full size E MX bike until, or if ever, there is a step change in battery storage density and performance.
They value their reputations.
Not MX, but the world's premier E bike race series is Moto E, and it gives a view into the dystopic E racing future.
The 2022 Energica MotoE bikes weigh almost 600 lb (265 kg) without a rider, have a 21 kWh battery, a 145 hp motor and usually race over a 30 km distance for 10 to 12 minutes. They do not ride a sight lap, presumably because of range constraints.
Moto GP bikes have a minimum weight of 157 Kg, a 21 litre tank, up to 300 hp, and race for up to 140 km (with a sight lap). Join the dots:
Thanks man I do appreciate it, it's really simple if you know what you're doing.
If Chad wants to hire someone to get shit done, I'm the man for the job. All I ask is for a turtleneck with a cigarette pocket, and whatever product Chad uses to make his hair look cool.
I have only built 3 houses since the Stark launch
You‘ve already told us and nobody cared.. so why post it again? Even the dumbest vitard is smart enough to see the difference between road racing and moto.
If Stark is selling 18.000 MX bikes in the next 14 month, you’re going to see Pit magically changing his opinion on eMX.
Now all we need is some groupies.
Highly doubt it. Stefan Pierer talks a little about the subject in a 3-part interview.
Good read if you or anyone wants to read it.
https://www.motorcycle.com/features/interview-with-ktms-stefan-pierer-p…
The company seems to be set on ICE and synthetic fuels for the immediate future. At least for full size bikes. Electric for smaller bikes and commuter motorcycles.
Interesting fact: KTM sells 50k 2-stroke units a year.
Fair enough, but do you really ‚highly doubt it‘?
KTM is very successful in what they do and of course doesn’t want to change what’s working, just like most car manufacturers wanted to just keep producing ICE-cars before Tesla took off. If Stark can delivery a bike close to what they promise, demand will stay high and KTM has to react, just like the traditional car manufacturers are now.
They are nice houses, and you deserve a pat on the back for them, but....let's be realistic. All Stark did was form a company in 2019, incorporate in the EU, decide that they wanted to create a new category, whiteboard a new concept, proof that, research that, hire engineers, design it, prototype who knows how many times, revise it, hire staff, find a building, create tooling, find vendors, research, test, and price materials, set up a production line, build a marketing plan, hire some sort of sales force, set up dealers, do financial calculations, acquire an investor, build enough prototypes to do a successful PR event, finalize specs, make sure the bike is competitive because they have so much invested in it, go through what is probably a nightmare of EU regs, scale from prototype to production, deal with all the challenges that come up in the supply chain for every component, vendor, and shipper all at once, and get to the point where they are either bald faced liars, or on the verge of delivery. In 4 years. In other words, an enormous list of stuff that a company trying to launch global business for a new tech product in a mature industry has to do. Again, not to take away from what you have accomplished, if you know anything about industrializing a product, that is a far, far, bigger task than 6 houses.
For reference, some Honda people told me many years ago that it takes about 48 months start to finish to launch a new bike. It can be compressed sometimes, sometimes it can extend out if there are challenges. Stark formed in 2019, probably worked on the idea for a year or so prior, so they are doing fine.
Also, if you read thee Peirer interviews that were posted, he talks a lot about production delays, beauracratic challenges, and worker shortages, all which I am sure Stark
